I then called Hot Shot Electric. A cool, professional guy named Justin came out, and fixed the issue faster than the Sparky's guy took just looking at things. (Justin also went above and beyond and spent a small amount of time by identifying that the Sparky's kid was lying about the breaker box and showed me why). He saved me somewhere between $7.8k to $24.8k (that I wasn't going to spend, for everyone's reference) amount of BS money by identifying the real problem and fixing it right away. He also offered options that I learned about previously from friends of the AL/Cu wire nut conversion, which they could do at a ball park of $2k. I highly recommend these guys in a world where you take your car in for a broken tail light and the mechanic says he's gonna have to rebuild your whole car to fix it.

I was doing a search for electricians in the Tulsa area as I was having some trouble in my house…read more My internet was cutting out and some lights would flash when I was running my washing machine. I found Vanguard Electric; they had good reviews and I hired them to help me out. The first guy who came over said that he couldn't guarantee that his work would help the issue with the lights flashing. My boyfriend became very pessimistic about this guy, so I sent a message to the company asking for help. Someone else from the company came and gave advice to the first guy and they did some work. It cost less than I expected, around $3,000 instead of around $4,000. The flashing of my lights stoped and the internet became much more reliable. Awesome. A week or so after they left I noticed that some light fixtures that were previously working just find stopped working. Initially I thought the light bulbs had burned out, so we bought new ones. That didn't solve the problem thogh. When I had some free time I contacted the company again. They came back and looked around. They seemed to have decided that I did something to make the fixtures stop working. I have no experence with wiring and had done nothing to cause an outage. They wanted me to pay them more money to investigate a problem they caused. I don't know about other people, but $3,000 is a lot of money for me and I had already paid that. I mentioned that they had a one year warrenty and they said it was just for the work they did. When they said they needed more money to do the work I told them I would let them know. I got back on the chat to see if anybody get provide additional assistance. This is the message I got from the company. What a way to treat a customer! "The scope of work that you paid for previously covered: new service install on exterior of house (replacing undersized main panel on exterior of house), replacing service loop (existing loop was resting on metal car port), and replacing inner receptacles to solve a grounding issue. A service change costs $3,000 alone. We did *not* upgrade, or even touch, any of the existing wiring, therefore we are not responsible for the issue you are currently having. Sometimes that happens. The wiring in your house is old. That doesn't make it our fault. That doesn't make it your fault either. At this point you have not been billed for the investigation we began into the problem. Also at this point we have given you a verbal estimate of $100 if we can solve the issue within an hour (which means we have lost 3 hours of time finding the issue that we won't be able to recoup). We have tried to work with you, and gave you an *excellent* price for the work we performed, in order to help you guys out. "

I just had the most hateful experience with Randy Self. He is the owner of Handymen Inc out of…read moreBroken Arrow, Ok. He is a man that was recommended to us by our realtor for repairs that needed to be made to the home we are selling. He had done repairs for us twice previously, and there were no issues with his services those times. Today, he made time to go to our home to do repairs that I expected would cost between $400-$750 at the most. So, when he texted an invoice for $2,270 I was shocked. I called to ask him what cost so much, when he jumped down my throat! He went for the jugular and said he would not be questioned and that if I didn't like it, he could just take down all they had done today. I was now thoroughly perplexed because I hadn't been unkind, I was just calling to ask why and how it had gotten so expensive. The repairs were pretty minor. He never gave me a quote, so I really didn't know what to expect. But I was definitely not expecting $2,270. Randy had been very nice previously, so I was so shocked at how he was speaking to me, that I wondered if he had had a bad day or if something awful had happened to him that put him in such a bad mood because no professional should ever speak to a client in such a way, just for asking what caused the bill to be that high. I even told him that he had never been unkind before so why was he behaving this way now, and he just continued to rip me apart to the point that I just hung up! No one deserves to be spoken to that way, and nothing productive was happening in the conversation. So I called the agent and reported his behavior to her who was shocked as well. The total cost for the products he purchased for us was $370, so $1900 was just labor I guess?? So for one day of work that is $237.50/hour. Not sure how many people he had working with him as we are out of state and this was just for final tiny things needed to finish the sale. So the question really should not be a surprise. I never said anything about not paying or anything like that, I just started by asking what was all included in his price, and he went off! So rude!! While I would have given him 4.5 stars before for his 2 previous repairs, today I would give a negative star if I could. And while his work is good, no one deserves to be treated so poorly for asking a question on pricing.
