Inside is a fab building which I can only image our new Library of Birmingham will be like. I have never seen so many computers in use in one place, the building is light airy, there is a wide choice of books and reference area. The rich history of the library was captivating, and the stunning architecture of the buildings was not to miss. Natasha, our tour guide, was an absolute gem! She guided us through the majestic halls and took us behind the scenes, explaining the lavish history along the way, always with a warm smile. Her enthusiasm for the library was palpable, and her extensive knowledge made the tour even more fascinating. One of the highlights was seeing the Duke Humfrey's library. Such a beautiful and historic building with crests of the University of Oxford covering the ceiling, and Kings, Queens, and Bishops along the aisles. The Radcliffe Camera and The Divinity Schools were not to miss as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oxford.

It was raining outside and I was looking for a place to duck in. I tried to look in the window to see what seating was like when I noticed that they had some souvenirs for purchase... including some items with the Magic Roundabout on it. I went in and there was quite a bit going on. It looked like there were a couple groups in and there were lots of people wandering the collection. I didn't get the chance to go upstairs, but it looks like they have quite a large collection and they have interlibrary loan (I overheard a librarian talking with a patron). There are computers around the wall of the library so people can use the internet or look up books. To the left of the entrance, there is the Tourist Information desk including a large collection of brochures and magazines for tourists for each part of the UK. There was a local section as well. Of course they had the selection of souvenirs that I saw from the outside... Swindon Monopoly, t-shirts, key chains, and coffee mugs with the Magic Roundabout, post cards, and various items for children. It is a lovely facility and seems to be well used by the public!

what a great library - i used to come here every saturday back in the day before i had a computer…read moreat home with internet access! there were only a few computers, but you could call or go on the internet to book the use of one. that was a really easy booking system. the library and museum are great - they have lots of things always going on - went to a talk about stars recently which was very interesting. the place is clean, and there are always lots of staff milling around. the updated book checking in/out system is great, the staff are very helpful if you don't know quite how to use it. they have a great selection of books, and luckily if they dont have something themselves they do get things in from surrounding libraries quite quickly. the fiction section is good, but they could do with more books in other areas. there are a few seating areas if you want to have a read of something. good childrens reading area too, always looks full and fun! i hear that this is the most used library in the whole of the uk, i can believe it, it's a great treasure in the heart of rugby.

Inside i am always suprised as to just how quiet it is. But due to its vast size im sure any sounds just dissipate. Some of the lighting if i remember correctly is very orangy, weird becasue it doesnt actually affect your reading. They also offer computers which you can use for a small aount of money. They also offer rental of some cd's and dvd's too which is a great addtion. If your into books or need to do research this is the place for you!

Based across two floors, the library offers a dozen or so Internet connected workstations for use by the public, but sadly doesn't offer Wi-Fi. Never the less, I find upstairs in the library a good place to sit quietly and get on with research and other work on my laptop. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is often themed displays drawing attention to specific books. For instance, when The Hobbit movie was released the library had a section on JRR Tolkien including a collage of facts and artwork. As local libraries go, Weoley Castle Library is bright and modern and a welcome place to visit on Weoley Castle Square!

If they don't provide what you are looking for you can always ask and enquire with a member of staff about the books and items that are in your search criteria and they will pleasantly assist you with ordering the books from other libraries across Birmingham and they will notify and let you know when you can expect the arrival of your item and when to pick it up. The librarians, volunteer workers and members of staff are all very helpful, warming and inviting and they don't hesitate in any way to assist you and your local library experience.
