I love the reformer instructors here, they're fun and motivating. Facility here feels very modern and there's a very serene feel at the Health Club. Changing room offers lots of lockers, hair dryer and straightener ( very important for some). It's great that the Health club is located conveniently to lots of post workout food options too! Matt the membership instructor is very friendly and not pushy at all ( unlike other establishments I've been to) and I feel welcomed and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Lots of classes offered and the weekly membership fee is definitely worthwhile if you attend at least 2 classes per week. I am waiting for Kaya to open a branch for the northsiders and it would be a done deal for me!

The toilets, Pilates and other class floors, as well as the shower areas, often need more regular cleaning. Full disclosure: I'm approaching 40 years old and haven't been a member of a gym in my life…read more That's a lie. I was a member of a rival gym a couple of years ago. When I joined up I was given an introductory personal training session in which I was reminded how unfit I was and sent packing with a detailed report on my woeful state of health. Or that's how it felt. Totally demoralising and I never went back. That was the background to my contact with Virgin Active (Bourke St.), following a new determination to get fit. It loomed in the background as I perused their site and filled in the contact form. So much so that I shared it with them when they called me back the same day. And again when I had a tour. But my experience with Virgin was nothing like what I experienced elsewhere. It was positive, inclusive, accommodating. They looked to take their cues from me and support my goals rather than impose their own standards. I could talk about the equipment (loads of it), the space (masses of it), or the range of activities (pool/spa/sauna? Check. Indoor rock climbing? Check.) I could mention the cleanliness of the venue or friendliness of the staff. But what it comes down to here is care. Is this a warehouse full of keep fit stuff or does it house a culture of care? It's the latter. Virgin Active have my ongoing business because at each stage they have proven themselves to care about who I am, where I'm at and what I'm aiming for. And that's valuable.

Compared to other gyms out there it's a no frills operation, elevated by the dedication and enthusiasm of the trainers. They infect the club with the energy. It's best for weights and weight machines, everything being clean and well maintained and quickly attended to if something is broken. The only thing missing from my selfish perspective is a stair master. They don't run classes (such as pump, combat ect) but the trainers run their own version, with kettle bells and boxing on regular offer. Talk to the trainers - they know their stuff. The Jetts price model is absolutely reasonable and I think some of the best value out there. They also have reciprocal rights between all Jetts gyms, join one, join them all. With 24 hour access, it's pretty good value for money. Head down and see Jesse and his crew, they are always friendly and willing to show you the best way to do things.

I would strongly advise against joining this gym…read more My experience was marred with unfriendly, unprofessional receptionists, very limited yoga classes and highly inconvenient opening hours (even to simply use the gym area). I asked to cancel my membership during the peak of covid as I had lost my job. I was met with very little sympathy and a $300 cancellation fee. I could only commit to one calendar year of a membership, regardless of covid closures, but my membership was extended because apparently the closed months did not count - I did not sign up to have my membership delayed several months and should not be expected to pay for a gym I physically could not attend once the year had passed.

I've been training with Piotr for over a year and have seen tremendous growth. The workout is always changing and challenging which has helped to keep me focused and heading in there day after day. Piotr's personal athletics history has definitely help me to find that drive as well, to push it further than I thought possible...all while remaining injury free! Unlike a lot of larger gym's that lose that personal connection, Hurl's been a great way to stay fit and feel part of the team that trains there. Get off your bum and get fit!!

I'll start by saying that I really like the concept of barre body & it's a great workout. The…read morereason for the lackluster score is twofold- 1. I think the price is utterly ridiculous & 2. There's no good 'beginner class' options which means people are more prone to injuring themselves due to lack of knowledge or technique. I did about 3 weeks of classes (and intro 2 week deal and a week afterwards) and went probably 9 times so I got a great overall view of the classes. The teachers were really lovely but a few moved far too quickly through the yoga components of the classes & I could see people struggling to keep up & rushing their poses to do so (which will lead to injury eventually). There was no explanation to newbies about the poses and no real extra attention paid to them. For those in the know the workout is excellent - it's quite lower limb heavy but different classes are varied and it is hard work- my butt & legs were killing me for days after each class!! The price. Woah. It's so expensive. Over $200 a month for unlimited classes! That's too much by anyone's standards. Their overheads are not that excessive. So what's my summary - eh, if you can afford it, do some yoga classes somewhere else first so you get to know the poses and then go nuts. You'll get a great workout with lovely teachers in a truly gorgeous space.

After some friends and my Pilates teacher filled me in on what REALLY goes on here, I thought I'd bite the bullet and give it a try with the two week $50 pass as a way to shake up my exercise regime. I'm really glad I did and can confirm a few things for anyone else wondering if they should take the plunge. 1) There's women of all shapes and sizes here. I once also saw a guy, but usually it's a women only affair. 2) Apart from the Barre that you use for some exercises and a couple of ballet terms, it's not very ballet/dancy at all. 3) The teachers are very kind and super lovely. There's none of that "look at me I'm so great" attitude you might get elsewhere. 4) The Barre Tone classes will make you sweat and work muscles in small but excruciating ways. 5) Your arms, legs and bum will look and feel better in just a month! I'm now attending two or three classes a week (mostly Barre Tone and Barre Body ones) and really love how it has improved my fitness, flexibility and strength in just a couple of months. The online booking system is very easy to use, though I wish you could book more than a week in advance as I like having my schedule organised a fortnight at a time. I also really like that I can use class credits in any of the Barre Body studios around Melbourne and Sydney as this gives me more flexibility when travelling.

I was gifted a corporate gym membership; of which sadly had to be returned after six months of use. Although in saying this, I was fortunate to enjoy two casual classes two weeks ago as the company I used to work for had failed to cancel my membership here. An abundant bonus. The classes are exceptional, and so are the instructors - especially Brandon on a Friday afternoon when you join him at 5:30pm for Body Attack, and with him again at 6:30pm for Body Balance - two fantastic Les Mills workouts, and he is a great start to the weekend. The reception staff defy the service you would normally receive from chain stores - they actually know your name and thus greet you by your name the moment they see you before handing in your membership card to be swiped. And when you misplace your card; it is usually immediately ready to re-collect. The launch classes of new releases on the Les Mills workouts are always so much fun. There is a different theme for each new release where you might have to dress up in halloween clothes for instance, and sometimes instructors run special classes for fundraising purposes where you cannot get in without a gold coin donation. Something Brandon did on one of his Friday afternoon Body Attack classes which went for a marathon 90 minutes once; instead of the normal 60 minutes which is intense enough.
