May 19 2026 at 12:30 pm I went to shop at Lowes in Plattsburgh NY for r he last time. The people…read morethat "work" for this store are some of the rudest dismissive clowns I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Long story shortened, I was trying to get directed to an item I wanted to purchase. Some confusion on the associates end made him think I was being rude and loud with his 2 fellow associates up front. I understand there is always 2 sides to every story, but in this case this is it. I tried telling the associate, who I will say was in his 70s maybe?, there was no issue i tend to speak loud as I was a veteran that was around loud artillery in the Army. This old creep plainly said, I dont care about you or whoever claims to be a vet.... Well alrighty, thats fine, but is being at work a good place to let us know that. I did call and report the issue to management, she apologized and asked for the names of the associates involved, which I didnt know. She said that makes it difficult, I agreed. But, it isn't hard to look back at the security cams and go from there. Im not looking to get anybody wrongfully fired, but in this case I think I would fire the involved participants. This guy is about 5 ft 5, skinny, shortened gray to darker hair looks like he is in his late 70s and has an anger issue. I see these nasty attitudes more and more in stores with these associates. They aren't helpful, they are dismissive, rude, nasty attitudes and I feel they just want to collect a check for doing very, very little. No, not everyone is like that, but for these people, right on.the nose a accurate. I would not so readily sign up to serve my country again if these are the types I protect. Yeah, might sound like I am rambling, but if it was you or you saw this situation happen, you may look at it differently. No wonder these stores are going to online delivery services. These stores do not deserve our patronage.

From the owner: T.C. Murphy Lumber Company can be proud to be selling the worlds most renewable resource, lumber,…read moreat one end of its business and generating its electrical needs by using another renewable resource, water, at the other end. Adirondack ingenuity, hard work and a true respect for the environment can be used to sum up these real life historical events that have taken place at the mill creek dam. The mill was powered by a 21″ S. Morgan Smith Turbine that with a 17-foot head developed 59 horsepower. The water was brought into the mill through a large wood flume and pen stock. The flume was unusual in that four or five logs could be floated in and lifted at the same time with a jack rig, putting the logs onto the skids and ready to roll on to the carriage. In 1958, the wood flume and pen stock were very rotten. The turbine was worn out, and estimates for replacing it were over $6,000 for materials alone. This brought about the decision to pour a concrete wall that would seal off the flume and shut down the Saw Mill. For the first time in 131 years the land on the east side of the mill creek dam did not use the power of the water to operate machinery. This changed with George Van Voorhis III’s vision to use the energy from the dam to produce electricity for the Lumber Company. In 1979 the vision became a reality with the purchase of a 1933 S. Morgan Smith hydroelectric turbine that produces 95 horsepower.
