    Hunan chicken

4.5 Stars - Lunch at Wan's was a delicious reminder of why this longtime South Florida favorite continues to draw a loyal following. It's located in a shopping center anchored by Winn-Dixie, making it easy to stop in for lunch, with ample parking available right outside. They start you off with a bowl of their crunchy noodles accompanied with some duck sauce and mustard. I tried their Hunan chicken lunch combo which came with a spring roll and choice of soup. The dish was the highlight for me featuring tender chicken and a generous mix of fresh vegetables tossed in a flavorful spicy garlic sauce. It delivered just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dish. The vegetables were crisp, the portions were satisfying, and everything tasted freshly prepared. I was able to get brown rice for no additional cost. Wan's is known for its traditional Cantonese and Chinese cuisine, and the quality really shines through. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, the combination of good, and easy access makes this a spot worth revisiting if you are in the area.

I had a pick up order for Shrimp Lo Mein, Chicken Fried rice and Veggie spring rolls. I went on a weekday for dinner and the service was pretty quick. I loved the chicken fried rice. It was non greasy and had a decent portion. Even for a weeknight dinner, the place had a lot of customers. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant.

I was craving some beef Lo mein so I decided to stop here. I was able to place a to go order rather quickly. And my food was ready in about 15 mins. I ordered the Lo mein and some crab Rangoon. While the Rangoon was very disappointing it had maybe 3 slivers of crab and some just only had cheese. I would never order them again. The lo mein was exactly what I hoped it would be. The beef was tender the noodles had the right amount of sauce. That's something I can get behind.

    Wans - 12/31/25 - Delivery - Combo Sweet & Sour Chicken

1 star Extremely disappointing order from Wins Chinese in Fort Lauderdale. The chicken wings were a complete miss. No flavor at all, just bland, under-seasoned pieces that tasted like nothing. Horrible selection of wings. Skip the combos entirely. They arrive with the sauce already poured on everything, which turns the food soggy and unappetizing. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo and the sauce made it a soggy mess. Texture and taste both suffered. Even worse, I ordered a regular (non-combo) portion of the orange chicken specifically so it wouldn't come drowning in sauce. They still put the sauce on it. Same soggy result, same lack of flavor. When I brought it up they told me I should have asked for sauce on the side, except the website has zero options for that and no comment or special request box. There's no way to actually request it when ordering online. They also forgot the spring rolls I paid for. The fried pork dumplings were the only thing that was halfway decent. They're not hard to make, and the flavor was just okay, noticeably lacking in seasoning. This whole experience reminded me of the old Christina Wans: overrated and not worth the money. I'll try one more time in a few months, only one more time. If they mess that up, never again.

I remember when this was Christina Wan's which also did catering and the club, Out Boating, had many of her fine meals. Though Christina is still around she retired and a sold to a relative so the restaurant still bares the Wan name and still has the best in Chinese food. What so much sets Wan's apart from other area Chinese restaurants is that it is maintained impeccable clean. Others in the area are notoriously known for being dirty and a quick check of Dirty Dining proves that. Also, Wan's tends to be more authentic Chinese, whereas others are more New York Chinese; hello General Tao's Chicken. LOL! Wan's is also one of the very few places you can get a real Peking Duck without advanced ordering, which is what I had. It came with the duck totally debone with great marination flavors accompanied by a delicious Hoisin sauce and the most delicate of pancakes. For Chinese food I can definitely recommend Wan's.

Everyone says there isn't good Chinese food in Florida and I agreed until I came here! I LOVE this restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is excellent! I have ordered 5 different things and loved it all. Really great place!!

Wan's has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try since hearing many great reviews about the food. There is a lunch and dinner time-frame so I recommend looking up their hours prior to arriving. When arriving, you are welcomed right away by the hostess that makes sure to get you sat quickly. Take in the decor as you are walking to your seat because it is very unique and symbolizes the cuisine you are about to enjoy. The menu contains many options depending your pallet but enjoy the fresh wonton chip that are provide with some duck sauce. I ended up getting the Grandma's Combo plate to try a little of everything. I choose a vegetable spring roll, wonton soup, vegetable fried rice and honey garlic chicken. The wonton soup was so delicious that you get to wonton dumplings, which is rare. The vegetable spring roll had a great crunch to it and was not socking in grease. The vegetable fried rice was super flavorful and a generous portion. Lastly, the honey garlic chicken was not overly coated in batter, perfectly sauced and the not soaking in grease. Surprisingly, I had enough room in my stomach to try one of their desserts that they had for the month. For someone who does not like chocolate that much, the chocolate cheesecake with caramel moose was super delicious, creamy and addicting for another bite. With a very attentive, funny staff and delicious food, finding a Chinese spot can be hard but I think I found mine.

Finally came back after it became Wan's. Overall good experience. The egg rolls were perfect. The dumplings left something to be desired. Good consistency but lacked flavor overall. Sezchuan beef was delicious. The gingered Asian pear martini was so unique and crave-able. The sesame old fashioned was perfect. We will return!

We had heard so much about this restaurant and how good it was that we were dying to try it. Unfortunately, we went on a Saturday at around 6:00 p.m. And the line was way too long. So we left and went elsewhere. A few days later, on a Monday afternoon, we decided to get takeout. We ordered the pan fried dumplings, an order of spare ribs, and the crispy tofu with orange sauce. The dumplings were delicious but we only got six small dumplings for $10. While the sauce on the tofu was zesty, it did not soak through. And so once you got through the first layer, you were eating flavorless tofu. The ribs also had a nice sauce, but they were a bit chewy. We were disappointed with this meal. But because of all we'd read and heard about this restaurant, we decided we would give it another try. So about 3 weeks later, again on a Monday at lunch time, we got takeout. This time we got the hot and sour soup, the Hunan beef, and the Singapore noodles. Hot and sour soup is one of my favorites, and I haven't found many here that I like. This is the best one I've had in South Florida. The Hunan beef was very good. (I would have loved a little bit more mushrooms in it. I had to hunt for them.) But the beef was tender and flavorful, and the dish had lots of broccoli, my favorite. The Singapore noodles also were very good with three different types of meat and veggies, and of course it was curried. Thank goodness we decided to give this place a second chance. Now, we are looking forward to trying a few other dishes on the menu. Each meal (with an appetizer and two entrees) was about $50.

    Bok choy, Seasonal Chinese Greens

I really enjoyed my experience at Wan's. It was my first time here. I ordered the seasonal Chinese greens, the salt and pepper shrimp, and a snow pea mocktail. They were all delicious. The bok choy was garlicky and cooked to perfection. The salt and pepper shrimp was crispy and juicy. Although, I do with the plate came with more shrimp than it did. I will be back for sure. The service was great. My server was very attentive and the owner came by to speak to me; they both were very welcoming. The ambiance was great. It was a clean restaurant and the layout/seating was comfortable.

    Wonton Soup
    Ariella V.

Had dinner at WAN's the other night and it was good! We started with spring rolls and a wonton soup. I have to say the wonton soup did not have much flavor at all. The dumplings in the wonton were okay though. Spring rolls were good and we continued to order the pepper steak and veggie lo mein. Pepper steak fed me, my husband, and 2 kids. Big portion but we wished it was cooked a little more because it was on the chewier side. Veggie lo mein was so good and what I appreciate is our server letting us know if we made it into a combination dinner she could include the wonton soup since it's part of the combination dinner entrees. Saves you a few bucks but that goes a long way when a server is considerate. I definitely think we will be back soon because I want to try other items on the menu.

Met a friend for lunch here. We'd both been excited to learn that WAN's had reopened and stayed "in the family". This was an opportunity to catch up and to try the new incarnation of the restaurant. We both got their combination lunches as they seemed the better deal. They included soup and a spring roll and in some cases a choice of rice. She got the egg drop soup and cashew chicken. She upgraded to an egg roll. I got their won ton soup and Singapore rice noodles. I also got the egg roll. The soup was just okay. There were 2 won tons in the soup and some scallions. It would have been nice to have a few slivers of pork as well. I liked my traditional egg roll (she did not). The Singapore rice noodles were heavy with curry and good. I took some of my entree home. It was actually better the second time around reheated and served piping hot. I don't care for spring rolls which come with the combos here, but I'm not sure I'd pay a $1.50 extra for this upgrade in the future. In fact, I think I'd skip the combos altogether. This is not the place to come for an inexpensive meal. Get the spare ribs and some of the more exotic (non Americanized) fare on their regular menu and you'll be happier. Just bring your credit cards and a sense of adventure.

Parking was easy, with a metered lot conveniently located across the street. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and requested outdoor seating so we could enjoy the waterfront views and watch the boats pass by. The atmosphere was relaxing, scenic, and definitely one of the highlights of the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. Table snacks was a small bowl of popcorn. To start, we ordered a Pearl Bourbon Smash and a Dragon Margarita. The Bourbon Smash was so good that we ordered a second one. The Margarita wasn't my favorite, but I finished it and followed it up with a Sensei Old Fashioned. For our entrees, we ordered the Korean BBQ Bulgogi and the Korean Steak Chimicurri (spelled that way on the menu, so I'm not sure if it was intentional). The Bulgogi portion was generous, and we really wanted to love it, but unfortunately the meat arrived cold. That was disappointing, especially after being told that everything is made from scratch. My husband's entree was served about 10 minutes before mine, which wasn't ideal. Generally, guests dining together should be served at the same time. I encouraged him to start eating so his meal wouldn't get cold, but unfortunately it already was. My steak arrived hot and was cooked slightly more than the medium temperature I requested, leaning closer to medium-well. Despite that, I still enjoyed it. It was served with jasmine rice and maduros, which complemented the dish nicely. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience. The waterfront setting, pleasant service, and enjoyable cocktails made for a great outing. We would definitely consider returning, especially to combine dinner with one of the boat tours. To top it off, our server gave us a bag of cotton candy. I felt like a kid. I haven't eaten cotton candy in years

We went for breakfast which has a small but amazing menu. As a vegan myself I had to order off the "sides" portion of the menu and I ordered an English muffin and a sliced avocado - very affordable ($5 total). I also ordered the fruit platter ($10) which came with an array of yummy fruits including pear, melons, pineapple, oranges, grapes and strawberries. There was more than enough for our table of three! My daughter had the pancakes which came with a warmed jam, syrup, and whipped cream. She said they were very fluffy. My husband had the chaffles which are croissants pressed in a waffle maker. They came with the same sides as the pancakes. And again he said they were so light and fluffy. We rounded off our meal with iced lattes - mine made with oat milk - and they were outstanding. I usually do not like iced drinks but the weather called for it and I was not disappointed! Overall Takato's breakfast is A+ and the view takes it over the edge of greatness! I hope you get a chance to enjoy it as much as we did! We returned to Takato for dinner and what an amazing meal we had. My one warning is to ask about portion size as many dishes are worthy of sharing size. We ordered an array of food. My son loved the kimchi short rib tacos (2 to an order). My daughter had the duck bao and California roll - both received two thumbs up! My husband had the wagyu sliders which he thought were an appetizer but ended up being a good sized meal served with french fries. He said the burger roll was a bit dry and could have used a sauce. The fries received rave reviews. We also had the mushroom gyoza (5 to an order) and these were delicious. I had the Takato salad without cheese and it did not disappoint. It came in a big bowl with crispy tofu. And I also enjoyed the vegetable sushi which provided a light fragrant taste with a crunchy texture. Takato hits the mark on all fronts and will definitely be a place to which we return whenever we come to Ft. Lauderdale!

This is absolutely going to be a part of our rotation for top asian-fusion eats in Fort Lauderdale. In fact, our female friend actually said while most asian restaurants we've introduced them to were very good, this place is by far the BEST of all! We started with 2 orders of grilled chicken skewers - perfectly charred, tender, and lightly sweet from the marinade, that came with a bright cucumber-tomato salad and the creamy peanut sauce that tied everything together. The Bangkok Wings topped with crunchy onions was a standout--so juicy inside. The Tom Kha soup with chicken was comfort in a bowl. Velvety coconut broth, mildly spicy with fresh herbs and mushrooms that soaked up all that flavor. For mains, the Mixed Seafood Pad Thai was just out-of-this world! That was super delish - it had the classic balance of sweet, tangy, and savory. Loved the thin, glossy and well-coated rice noodles. The Dynamite mussels was innovative. Creamy, lightly torched, topped with crispy tempura flakes, and beautifully presented. Loved the different textures in each bite. We also ordered a Four Seasons Specialty Roll which came with shrimp tempura, salmon, tuna and some type of white fish with asparagus and eel sauce. Yummo! The menu is huge and we will definitely be back to try more items. Check them out - absolutely worth a visit.

I really love this location of Phat Boy Sushi…read more It's very beautiful on the inside and the environment and ambiance is so so nice. Food: I really enjoyed my Trio roll it was full of yellow tail, tuna, and salmon, and I ordered eel sauce on the side. Service: The food came out quick, but I didn't like our waitress. She didn't speak English really well and couldn't understand us when we had questions for her. My friend ordered a side of noodles for her dish and it was literally just butter noddles and when she asked for a sauce to put on them (which she wanted in the first place) she said it was going to be an extra charge and she also didn't list any options of sauce so my friend had to come up with it off the top of her head.

We recently ate at Phat Boy Sushi and unfortunately both of us got really sick afterward…read more We shared our entrées. We ordered beef fried rice, gyoza, and pork ramen. Because we shared, it's hard to pinpoint which specific dish may have caused the issue. However, within hours of eating, we both experienced significant gastrointestinal symptoms. I personally started burping up the taste of pork ramen around 1am and have been dealing with ongoing severe stomach issues since about 2am. It's understandable that foodborne illness can sometimes be difficult to trace to one specific item, but since we shared everything and both became ill the same night, it felt important to share our experience. We hope the restaurant reviews food handling and preparation practices to prevent this from happening to others. Unfortunately, this was a very uncomfortable experience for us and we wont ever eat at this location again.
