If you're here to learn who you can trust to protect your home from termites, read this review,…read morebecause I rarely ever write them, but when I do it's for good reason. I had to this time because finding someone you can trust these days is sadly very very hard -- and you CAN trust Carolina Exterminating. I moved to North Charleston in October 2025 and I love the house I bought. So I wanted to protect it. First order of business, termites, since SC is second only to Louisiana in severity. I approached the hunt for a termite company by calling more than half a dozen companies and getting quotes in person and hearing their plans. Only Carolina Exterminating had a holistic approach. The others said they would put in bait traps and they did not commit to repair if the house was damaged. How is that standing behind your work? Carolina trenched my entire house -- they dug out the whole outside perimeter and drilled holes across my large patio and double driveway so there were no gaps for the termites to sneak through. Then they went into the crawlspace (which is very tight and tough to work in) and drilled all 25 brick pillars. Then they pumped everything full of Fipronil. This method is the GOLD STANDARD for termite protection. Just ask AI. Andrew Daily from Carolina Exterminating oversaw it all and did the vast majority of the work. He's incredible. I know him pretty well now because he came back multiple times...till the work was PERFECT. Amazing person. And their contract covers Eastern Subterranean termites AND FORMOSAN TERMITES. People say "Formosan termites' heads are shaped like a teardrop and that's because if they get into your house, you're going to cry." Therefore nobody warranties you against them. Carolina Exterminating DOES. Good luck getting that kind of confidence from any other vendor out there. They do it, because they actually DO THE WORK. So that's it. Your hunt is over. Carolina Exterminating is the only call you need to make. And Andrew Dailey is the only person you need to trust with your precious home. Thank you Andrew. Thank you Carolina Exterminating. Good luck y'all.

Price point was reasonable and I was set up with just a quarterly maintenance. Chris was a great technician. Responsive and explained what he saw in details and answered my questions. He was even very understanding when I goofed with saying the wrong apartment number. Looking forward to continuing to work with Carolina Exterminator as needed (hopefully not needed often :P ).

Termite inspection by another company found termite infestation and profound damage which was not detected by The Lightning company for years. They admitted their fault, sent the claim to their insurance company somewhere in New Jersey which was denied. We ended up with $50K repairs of the half of the first floor thanks to the The lightning termite and pest control crooked company.

Horrible company, Larry's/ Lightning whatever. Ask Clemson Exchange or google search for past…read morehistory. Heard his daughter just bought Dads business Larry's and renamed it as I understand. Larry denied my Belle Hall claim after looking at a glance and gave no support on why the bond I paid for over a decade was denied. They never looked under my porch because the technician was too large and he simply said 'that's what the bond if for'. I thought they were out of business but was told today they were still under new management/ name so I'm posting this in hopes nobody else is being treated this way. Several other 1 star reviews. Never let Larry do the inspection, evidently he is still working there doing the exact same thing but again, it was renamed after the controversy. If an issue arises, only get another inspector or another company. Larry did not help me and was rude and blunt and negative.

You will be so engrossed in the storys and information and amazed by the birds that the time will be over before you know it. Make sure to walk all around to see all the birds and owls. (Yes, owls are birds, but they have lots of owls!) There is a tiny little gift shop and my spouse couldn't help getting a t-shirt and I couldn't help giving a little donation. When I arrived just over an hour before closing, I was told that their various exhibitions of bird-related activity were already done for the day. Nonetheless, I was charged full price if I wanted to come in, an eye-watering $25. I've seen other places charge less under such circumstances, but that's a lot for an attraction regardless. The main reason I said yes was the veterinary clinic I passed on the way in; I have a soft spot for both medicine and owls. Having arrived, I meandered through several sets of cages where birds sat awaiting to be observed. Some of the birds were on the mend from various injuries. A wide variety of species were present; not just those local to the immediate surroundings. You couldn't expect to find more and more interesting birds in a place of this sort. The wiring around the birds does interfere with viewing, but given the size of the claws on some of those birds you definitely wouldn't want to have lax security. Overall the place was clean with well-maintained facilities; at least I could see the money was actually being spent. I was told that also had a plan for a massive bird evacuation in the (entirely likely) event that a hurricane might threaten this coastal facility. I did happen upon a smallish raptor of some sort getting some early falconry training while on a rope leash. Apparently some of their birds are bred and trained specifically for "educational purposes". Large birds are charismatic and interesting wildlife, and the sounds and sights were worthwhile. I wish I could have learned a bit more about the veterinary operations (as a human doctor, it is not entirely clear to me what you could realistically do for a bird).
