We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management. The guides were helpful, informative and efficient. The forest scenery was absolutely gorgeous with a light drizzle of rain. I have done several zip line tours and this one definitely had safety locked down. It required no athletic ability so it was easy for someone in their sixties and a child who barely weighed enough to be included. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Deception Pass State Park is a top tier gem of a state park. There's so much to see! This park…read morespans multiple islands, and of course is connected by a bunch of bridges that traverse sheer ocean cliffs with rocky beaches at the base. More inland, there are quiet old growth forests, lakes, and bluffs. I visited the tide pools at Rosario Head during one of the lowest tides of the year. From the parking lot, it's about a 10 minute walk to the tide pools, crossing a conveniently located washroom as well. Since it's so heavily trafficked, there are ropes strung about to keep visitors from trampling on recovering habitats, and also ropes that guide the way to see some tide pool critters. Some staff members were also there to answer any questions and give more information. I did a hike around Rosario Head after my tidepool visit-you get to stand on top of the bluffs and admire the bluest water and the most fluffy clouds for miles. Of course, it's among one of the most trafficked state parks in Washington, so come early if you want to easily snag a parking spot.

Those waterways are what make this place so amazing though. Beautiful state park. Lots of scenic trails. Hike down to the water or stay high and explore the views. You can go in through the whidbey island side or the fidalgo island side. We came in through the whidbey island side and it was pretty easy. Recommend checking out the bays too. It's a nice relaxing beach day with actual sand! We camped at bowman bay. During low tide, explore the rocks and you'll find a ton of crabs. Kids loved it! Pet friendly as well. We brought our huge bernedoodle and she loved it too. Dogs must be on leash but the trails were doable with her. Mostly dirt trails without many rocks or obstacles. Weather is always hit or miss in the PNW. It did rain on us the first night but it was actually very relaxing. Remember, no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear. So gear up, come prepared, and get ready to enjoy some beautiful exploration.

Seeing the artwork and easy link to via the QR codes to the biography of the artist made it all the more interesting. It is a 40 minute bicycle ride the Ferry land to/from Port Townsend. Coming from out of state, we easily purchased a $10 Discovery Pass day ticket and parked in the lot. Using our flashlight on our phone, we explored the actual fort, built during World War II as a coastal defense. The fort is preserved well and you can go inside all the rooms and tunnels. There are also trails along cliffs lined with meadows and forests, offering beautiful views of the water. There are public restrooms near the parking lot.

He died at the hand of Hatain native men. He was the first non native resident of the island. Today it is a great place to enjoy a picnic, stroll the beach, skip rocks, explore whatever is brought out by the tides, and just have a great time.

Along the way we saw numerous ospreys, eagles, harbor seals, arctic terns, etc. Although this wasn't advertised as a whale watching tour, we did see a small whale feeding that breached the water nearby at least a dozen times before we returned to La Conner! This was a wonderful two and a half hour boat ride and I highly recommend it.

While I have not actually taken their tour, I would like to suggest they improve the directions to…read moretheir boat. I live in La Conner and frequently walk my dog down first street around the time people are making their way to the tour. At least two days a week, I encounter customers that are totally lost. Some of them are waking East away from the water and others are walking towards the marina. I even encountered one group a half mile away at the North Basin of the La Conner Marina. I alway tell them how to get to the boat.
