I'm not a professional cook (what Wandering Cooks is designed for. You can "rent" a commercial kitchen space by the hour) but I am a lover of food and funnily enough Wandering Cooks have a range of events involving this shared love. I attended an event at the space recently for Slow Food Brisbane and loved everything about it. As an event space, it sings! There's green walls surrounding you, book shelves full of inspiring cook books and freshly made bites direct from the kitchens. Plus, being a warehouse style shed it's a truly raw space to make of it what you will. Being located in South Brisbane it is easily accessible by public transport and there are some parks around the surrounding area for those of us who drive. Most of all I admire the owner, Angela's, ethos and determination. Wandering Cooks is a grand addition to our city and one I hope will continue to flourish. read more

I came to wandering cooks for a marketing talk and was completely surprised by the venue. Walking through the entrance space, I was unsure whether I was at the right place. I was surprised to be surrounded by open gardens and a couple of food trucks ago that seem to be pretty permanent. Sitting at the bar for a drink (Young Henry'a special), I was pulled in by their mini, warm chicken pastries. Chicken, eggs, cheese and pastry. I mean, whoever invented such a beautiful creation deserves all of the medals. The event I was attending was a marketing, panel style event and the space suited it to a tee. That being said, I had images of 50+ different events I could throw spinning through my mind as I practically licked the final pastry flecks off my plate. The opportunities for collaboration would be pretty much endless, plus their bar is pretty good. This is legitimately one of the most diverse and inclusive community based event spaces I've visited. read more

Highly recommend checking out this place on Thursdays for Thank Truck it's Thursday. Three to five food vans meet at this venue with sweet tunes and a cheap well stocked bar. Fridays just as awesome with Snackdown where two food vans play off against each other to win the title. Meals are a cheap $4 which means you can try all the tasty dishes. Love this place, highly recommend checking it out each week for new flavours and foodie ideas. read more

I attended this place for a UQ School of Medicine Function. It was set up as an essentially open courtyard with a partly covered area. The biggest problem was there weren't nearly enough bathrooms. They booked us knowing we'd have the better part of 300 people in attendance. There are two unisex bathrooms. That's it. It's otherwise a great venue, but it does have its limitations. read more
