It was completely worth the wait because his work is incredible, painstakingly detail-oriented and gorgeous. He won't start the ink until you're 100% comfortable with the design and placement, and won't finish until he knows it's exactly perfect. He is a true artist and professional, with a chill demeanor and cool vibe. He made our ideas come alive in ways we could never have imagined. The shop is clean and all the artists are friendly. They also require you to sign a consent letter. Your encounter would be in a private room. One to one. It's really a nice setup. Nice comfortable chair. Reminds me of the dentist chair. Katie knew what I wanted and she made things pleasant. We had a good conversation. Next thing I knew she was finished. My appointment time was for one hour. It took less time for that because of what I wanted. They give you aftercare instructions. Which is also explained to you. This was my first tattoo with colored ink. So I had several questions which she responded to very well. I would highly recommend her. Also there is alot of parking available. Just be sure to let them ring you in. They share the space with the lower level. Which is a different business. The tattoo shop is on the upper level. They also have to open the door for you and you definitely have to have an appointment. I would return when I'm feeling another tattoo experience. Which I'm sure I will.

To:dr: I will return due to the quality of the work, the vision and artistry he brings to his tattoos, and the consultation he does to make sure the final products are what you want them to be. Full backstory: I've had a tattoo for over 15 years that I hated. An ill conceived Japanese dragon had been made worse when I gave a different artist free reign to rework the design, and the resulting concept just wasn't me Finally went in to consult with Bill and he asked what I was looking for. I told him that, knowing how hard coverups can be, I was considering maybe an armor, biotech, or solar system tat could fix it. He looked at it and said he could fix it a lot of ways... what had a wanted if I could do it from scratch? So I told him I'd always loved the idea of a full Harry Potter themed sleeve or half sleeve. He asked me to put together some ideas and send them over for him to put together and make it art. So I did 7 months later and four sittings in, and my upper half sleeve is complete and the lower half is in design. His work ethic is phenomenal, he takes great pride, and his finished projects are stunning. Thanks so much! Hell, when we have to move away from the east coast we will undoubtedly make trips back to Wilmington to get tatted up again because we just don't trust anyone else now! While we've gotten tiny easy tattoos on vacation at other places, we will NOT go anywhere else for our more complicated and detailed tattoos. The artists we've used (Verb & J-Rock) just understand their clients. We explain what we want, we provide pictures, and they give us back a masterpiece. It's obvious they understand their clients' unique personalities and tailor their work to accentuate the vibe you give off (or try to give off.) The final product is always infinitely more amazing than we are able to picture in our minds beforehand. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Some might say it's "pricey" here; we always expect to pay talented artists well as they deserve it and the finished product is more than worth it. If you're nervous about your new piece of art and want to ensure you're getting exactly what you've envisioned (actually better), go nowhere else other than Northern Lights.

I got my lip pierced here, and it was awful. Not only did I get an infection because the stud was…read moretoo short, but the piercer also upcharged me with a larger gauge. I had to go to a different shop to get a longer stud because it was embedded in my lip, which led to the infection. At this other shop, they were appalled that Triple Crown gave me a 14-gauge 8mm stud for the healing period, informing me they had likely upcharged me for the gauge size. The piercer also did not tell me a lot about the healing process; she only handed me their booklet on it, telling me to keep it clean. Not worth the money, which was about $80 for the service and stud. If you want to get your ears pierced, that is fine, but do not come here for facial piercings.

The transfer was good, spacing looked nice, etc. But when I was laying on the table, something was off. I could feel the artist repeatedly going over a section they had already done. (I could feel the letters as they spelled it out and I knew they should have been finished.) All the words were complete. But the gun was still going. When I asked the artist what was going on, he cleared his throat and hesitated before saying "uhh, umm, yeah. It's done." When I looked in the mirror, I noticed that the word "PAIN" seemed bold compared to the rest of the wording. I thought maybe it was the initial swelling of the tattoo. But even after it healed, the lines word "PAIN" were thicker than the rest of the tattoo. It's been years, and I'm thankful it never blew out. But I'm still disappointed by it and I'm glad I can't see it on a daily basis because it's hidden under my bra. Most days I try to forget it's there because it's truly disappointing.
