I don't understand their reputation among developers. They are horrible…read more 1. Overpriced. Their lawyers do not have the pedigree and credential but they believe they do. But, I don't believe from what law school you graduated from as an indicator of your worth. It's your work product. It's hard to tell if you're not a lawyer but after a couple of years of reading their work product, you start to see who the smart ones are and if they are truly dilligent. Unfortunately, Rosenberg's laweyers' work product is nowhere near what they get paid. I am honest when I say this as someone who's knows the legal field, I genuinely believe that their hourly rate is double than what they are worth compared to their peers. 2. Technical Ability is Mediocre. Real estate lawyers can be really spotty. In other words, it can be really difficult to find competent ones among the incompetent. So, you need to be careful and initially micro-manage. From what I experienced, I didn't find any lawyers that struck me as very good. I wouldn't feel safe leaving a case in their hands to make the correct decision. Make sure to make the decisions. There are much cheaper places that produce much better quality. Seriously. 3. A very important trait to look for in a lawyer is whether the lawyer is more concerned about protecting themselves or you. If you are a lawyer or have dealt with a lot of lawyers, you know exactly what I mean. These are lawyer that are not only concerned about themselves, but also their pocketbook. It's so blatant that I'm surprised more people don't say something. Well, all law firms do this, you say. They are all concerned about themselves first and try to push the hours as most as they can get away with. But this firm really pushes the line. If you're a whale, they are going to fleece you. If you are too small for them, they are going to take all your money and then say goodbye. I'm sure everyone knows this if you are looking for a law firm like Rosenberg but make sure to: 1. Always go over each line item on their bill. I do and there is nothing to be shameful about it. It's shameful that they try to get away with such ridiculous numbers. Remember they can't charge you for this. 2. Ask for everything they submit to the court and read it and see if it sounds like a 2nd grader wrote it. 3.
