I hit over 5,000 words on my Disneyland Paris Yelp review and spent a good chunk of time cutting it down to 5,000 words (it was SO HARD to do so). So most of the general content is over there, but I'll add the Walt Disney Studios Park specific stuff here.
Until I did research, I really thought there was only one Disney park in Paris - Disneyland Paris. No idea Walt Disney Studios Park (WDSP) existed. I think of it as a Disney California Adventure 1.0. You can do everything in this park in a day and the operating hours reflect that: 10am - 8pm. On our 3 day Disney Paris visit, we hit WDSP on Day 2 - the day it rained. Here are my thoughts and highlights, as I can usually write volumes on anything Disney:
1. The attractions with the longest lines and justifiably so are the ones (so far!) exclusive to the Paris park: Crush's Coaster and Ratatouille: the Adventure. Crush has no Fastpass, so definitely hit that up first at rope drop. There's a game you can play on your phone while in queue to help pass the time. Ratatouille has Fastpass, so use that when possible. Both attractions are unique and super fun! Crush is mainly indoors with 5 seconds of outdoor time (interesting feeling when it's raining), so it's hard to see what goes on if you've never been. It's a 4-seater roller coaster filled with inversions, backwards motion, and practically nothing you've felt before. Your ride ends, and you leave wishing it was longer. Ratatouille is all indoors and theming inside the queue immerses you in "Paris" (as if you don't feel it since you're outside of Paris =p). Love the trackless system that's similar to Tokyo's Pooh attraction but I can see the use of screens causing some motion sickness.
2. This is the last place where Tower of Terror is still untouched and not supporting Mission Breakout. Lines tend to get long here too and Fastpass runs out by early afternoon/late morning.
3. The Studio Tour is nothing like the Universal Studios Hollywood Tour. Skippable.
4. We haven't been to Florida yet so our loopy Disney roller coaster experiences have been pretty limited. Rock n Roller Coaster was pretty fun. Love the loops and inversions. Late in the day it was rainy, so we were able to ride it 3x straight.
5. 2 Cars attractions and a mini land for Toy Story. Nothing particular stood out. We did go on the Army Men Parachute attraction.
6. Was told not to expect much for food. Ate lunch at Blockbuster Café - food and order area is Ironman themed and seating area is Pirates (movie, not the attraction) themed. Got the set meal where you pick the main course, side, dessert and drink for €14.99.
7. Some Star Wars presence with a show/processional with Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, and Chewbacca. A little bit of Marvel presence with Spiderman meet and greet and the Ironman theme in the Blockbuster Café. I have heard there are plans to expand that in the coming years.
8. Stitch was closed, I think, due to rain. That area was quiet. Not too much shelter for rain.
Since park closed at 8 pm, we went over to Disneyland around 7ish (DLP closed at 11 pm). If you truly have 1 day, get a parkhopper ticket and hit up Crush and Ratatouille and spend the rest of the time at DLP. See DLP post on my comments on ticket buying.
Because the Ratatouille attraction and restaurant are in this park, I believe I saw a little more Ratatouille merchandise here. However, I think the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney carries all the same items. Phooey. I was hoping for more cuter Ratatouille stuff in Paris.
I definitely prefer Disneyland Park over the Studios Park and would give them more stars than Studios Park. However, not everything in the Studios Park is a dud and the 4th star is for the excellent Crush and Ratatouille attractions and the very entertaining Mickey and the Magician magic show they have going on in the Toon Studio section. read more
