I began my morning by waking up at 9, after I was ready I stumbled across to Stricklandgate and waited a full 30 mins in the line to get in. Dead on 12 the door swung open to a "new paint" smell and to 3 members of staff eager to let us in. We all ran to be first in line but then stopped to admire the fine architecture from the tiled walls to the sandy oak wood floor, I felt welcome and the staff seemed to enjoy serving me too. Now... on to the food. I ordered the big tasty burger and I have to say it impressed me a lot, the bacon was crispy yet not over cooked, the lettuce had a distinct crunch which complemented the onions ever so well and the patty was so big I could not eat all of it and so I took some home for the dog. My one gripe with the food however was the fact that the fries lacked the crunch that I have became a custom to, but I think that may be because the oil in the fryer had been changed. I believe that McDonald's are leading the fast food industry into the future and this restaurant is one of the best I have seen so far

If you find yourself in the English countryside but have had your fill of pubs this restaurant…read moremight make its way on to your list. The ambiance is tourist chic and the service, while generally good, is a little uneven (no big surprise for Britain). The food is reasonable although if you're familiar with Thai food you may find it a bit lacking. The Pad Thai is a bit dry and lacks the sharpness of flavours you'd expect (lime, coriander, peanut, etc.). The green curry is warm and nice but the use of courgettes is a little odd. All in all, not a bad place - just manage your expectations before heading in.

I recently moved here to the island from the US, where fried chicken is one the hottest food in…read moredining circles. To be blunt, by US standards we are looking at probably three stars (at best) and they would have trouble surviving. On the island, fried chicken is one of the great foods that is lacking and the best is probably what you can get from a late night kebab house. By island standards, it probably earns a Michelin star, or at least four stars. The chicken itself is more KFC original recipe style, breaded and tasty but not crispy (which is my preference). The chicken is actually pretty high quality and meaty and the breading is nice if you are not looking for crispy (and good otherwise, hence I ate four pieces). Chips are typical fast food frozen fries, they won't make you forgot McDonalds but you'll finish them. The restaurant itself is clean and bright though with limited seating, so much nicer than the KFC around the corner. Overall, a good place to get your fried chicken fix and a nice place to have a meal.
