BEWARE of the tire center. We have observed Walmart running this routine in multiple states where customers order 4 tires, are billed then told to come in for installation but only 3 tires show up. What's the endgame? The angry customer cancels the order and leaves Walmart with an interest free micro loan guaranteed for 2 weeks. Multiply this by 10's or 100's of thousands of customers at ~ $500 a pop and you can cover a decent amount of payroll interest free while the customer pays daily interest on their card waiting for the refund to actualize. Tried buying some yarn but this old woman came up to me and took it all before I could even touch it. She called me several racial slurs, a few of which I have never heard in my life. I had to go home a google it. I didn't even talk to her as this was all happening. I went to the electronics section to report what happened but n one was there. I'm not a huge fan of this Walmart. Employees are friendly and the store is huge. However, the parking lot is always an issue and it seems there are always shady characters lurking. I've grown to enjoy the staff that I see in the mornings at Walmart. Always very cheery and generally happy to be there. One of the employees at the entrance is a hoot and a total joy to speak with when I visit in the mornings. The renovations they have made in the past 2 years or so have really improved the look of the store. When it comes to Pick Up In-Store (located at the back - in the entertainment area) they are very timely with getting your online order. My only gripe is the auto section. Poorly managed from my multiple visits there. They always underestimate the wait time for automotive work (average wait time has been 2-3 hours). Put that aside and the store is always very clean, organized and always stocked with product. It's one of the best maintained and stocked Walmarts that I've been too (better than Supercenter in Naugatuck). read more

Ugh, what to say. First the parking lot ..people are parking their cars behind cars that are in spots? I'm not getting that ... I know the lot was never big enough for this store/plaza but park in the lot over and walk. The store itself is dirty. You walk in and you notice it immediately. So crowded, you know that jammed lot is definitely being used by customers. Thinking they need to build a bigger store or two? The lines are down the aisles. I have always had good experiences in Naugatuck with staff being helpful and courteous. Things get funky when you try to return something to the store that was purchased through a third party, I get that. The approaching retirement age gentleman in Customer Service went above and beyond to help me navigate something that was a third party return. The New Haven store has a "perpetually broken" printer that conveniently prevents them from touching a third party return, all while there are new printers sitting in boxes 50 yards away. read more

Close the Auto Shop. Period. It took 3.5 hours for the boys to put 4 tires on my vehicle. i was there for a total of 4.5 hours. 3.5 hours, 4 "technicians" 1 price checker from the floor even showed up to "help". The boys were walking around, laughing, taking breaks, all while I watched and they gave 2 F@**s. 5 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursday night. I was never offered an apology or reasoning for there amateur antics. 1 of the boys got lippy when I asked him What The F@ck is taking so long. He says " its done now, so dont complain". There was only one lane open to pay for purchases, and there were already four people in that line when I arrived. Since we were buying many individual items, it would be inconvenient to use the self-check option, where there were three associates helping. After waiting for between twenty and thirty minutes, when my 78 year-old father asked to see a manager, he was at first ignored by the associate, then called a "nasty old man," and finally when a supervisor came over, threatened with a call to the police. My father, who is a Vietnam-era veteran, was then escorted out of the store, and it was only at that point that the supervisor said he had called for additional staff. To say the least, the management at this store need additional training. read more

First let me say that we shop here a lot, as this is the closest Walmart to our house. Merchandise wise, this Walmart is not too bad. Its a fairly large Walmart, and they have a tire and lube center. They usually have most stuff in stock (unlike some of the Walmarts around here, which have lots of empty spots on their shelves cause they seem to run out of everything I want). The staff for the most part is friendly and helpful, except for the people at the service desk. No complaints with any of the other employees at this store. The problem with this Walmart is the place is never clean inside. Even when it was first put up, the place always seemed grimy and dirty to me. The floors are never clean, there is dust on the merchandise, and the walls look like people wiped mud and black tar along them. The restroom cleanliness is a joke. I wouldn't pee there if you paid me to. There is always crumpled papers and wrappers and dirt that needs to be swept up on the floors, and the parking lot is never much cleaner. Another problem is that their parking lot is always 3/4 full. There are never any spots anywhere near the entrance. This is the only Walmart in Waterbury, but they have 3 Stop And Shops? They definitely need another one in Waterbury, and they need to keep this one cleaner. There are also always long check out times. Never enough lanes open. The place is full of customers and the lines stretch out from the 3 or 4 registers they have open. They have like 20 registers up front, why don't they ever open more of them? Another big problem here is the customer service desk. I'm sure its because they are in Waterbury, but there is always a long line at the service desk, just full of people getting western union or check cashing or trying to return stuff they either can't or shouldn't be. And by the time you get your turn the people behind the desk are looking at your return like you did something wrong by daring to bring it back...They look over the simplest cheapest returns like its a gold rolex, and are suspicious when you want a refund on almost anything...I get it guys, but I have MY receipt, and My package isn't even opened, so give me a break, and process the return without giving me an attitude and acting like I'm some criminal... So if you want to most likely find what you're looking for on the first trip, and if you have questions that you want answered politely and efficiently, then this is a good Walmart to go to... as long as you don't mind the cleanliness of the place, don't mind parking a half mile from the front door, and taking it to a different Walmart if you want to return it... read more

While the store itself is a good place to save money, their debit card reeks of fraud. I had one of their cards and in a matter of 2 months I had $650 of fraudulent charges made on the card in 4 different installments. All within days of receiving deposits in my account. I luckily got the 1st $200 back but 3 days later another $200 was charged off of my card. Not even 24 hours of receiving February's direct deposit a charge for $50 and a Charge of $200 was made to the card. I contacted the card's fraud department and started a dispute over the stolen money. While they were all nicey nicey on the phone, they were covering up for their buddy who stole the money and basically just went through the motions of a shoddy investigation. Not even a week after I sent them solid proof of the theft, I received a letter stating basically that I was lying about the charges that I maintain I never made. 1 I don't fly, haven't flown since 1995, 2 I don't shop online at Lands end. I buy my clothes at Wal-Mart. And I have never heard of the other merchant listed as the recipient of the last $200. Their letter was flawed from the beginning because I only disputed $450 In unauthorized purchases not the $952.50 that they claim my dispute was over. read more

The woman who answered the phone (Nakyda from the dressing room) said yes they did, she then went to see if they had the size I needed. She let me know they had one to small and another that would be way to big. She not only saved me the trip but at least $40.00 that it would have costed for the Uber ride. I go to this Walmart just because it's convenient. Nothing's ever stocked, things are disorganized, there isn't a self checkout (as expected in Waterbury), it's hard to find an employee (when you do they are miserables), and the checkout lines are always long. I prefer to drive the extra 30 minutes and go to the Walmart in Naugatuck. read more

The Ast Managers are usually very helpful, I think Walmart pays them well to make it worth having to put up with all the customer complaints over what I just mentioned. The aisles were so cluttered, you couldn't even get down some of them, I had to detour around aisles that were blocked to get to the dept I needed to go to. But the worst thing about this Walmart is that every time I go here, there's some organization collecting money outside. I don't mind so much when it's a local school sports team and it's kids collecting. But today it was some ministry -the guy asked me on the way IN the store and on the way OUT. Enough already, he's not from around here, they get dropped off in a big van (I've seen it) at different stores from N.Carolina or somewhere down south, and don't belong outside Walmart bothering shoppers. I'm not really a fan of Walmart, probably because the stores are usually busy and don't always have what you are looking for. The week before I came in for some dressy black shoelaces. I must of had the I have no clue where to find it look. This nice woman who had dark hair and an unusual name, (I think it was Lowelita, or close to it), asked me if she could help find something. I told her I was looking for laces. She gave me very specific directions on how to find them. I had no trouble finding where they were. I got them and went back to the front of the store. The same friendly lady greeted me and had me come to her register to check out. She was happy I found what I was looking for. When I got home, we discovered they were dark brown not black. It was a week later I managed to come back to return them. I saw the line at the front service desk and thought I would have a long wait, but was pleasantly surprised to see the line move fast. The associates at the desk were friendly and efficient. All in all two pleasant experiences even though I couldn't find the right shade both times. I minused 1 star because the shoelace rack wasn't very organized read more
