I found myself in northern Kentucky during my epic roadtrip (http://KananAcrossAmerica.blogspot.com) and after thousands of miles I REALLY needed an oil change. I chose Wal-Mart because I like to save money and live better, plus I was under an incredibly tight budget! During my visit I also decided to re-supply on road snacks and other essentials. On top of the fast service at the lube center, and the technician having an awesome Kentucky beard, there were 2 other things that make this Wal-Mart worth reviewing: a. It was surprisingly uncrowded for a Saturday and b. They sold strawberried peanut butter M&Ms! Anyone familiar with Wal-Mart knows that it is a nightmare during the weekends, so the fact that the store was navigable was a BIG plus! Secondly, Strawberried Peanut Butter M&Ms, 2nd greatest Ms behind the white chocolate ones, are damn near impossible to find, I had to stock up. Kudos to Kentucky Wal-Mart! read more

The floor customer service is bad. I asked for help with a cell phone protector. The sales person was rude and was not interested in helping me with my purchase. I asked an employee if they knew where a product might be, the answer "we don't have it". I ended up finding the product on my own. Don't even try to call this store. They hang up on you then they do apologize after 2 times then the phone rings off the hook. read more

Average Walmart, no more no less. It's clean and well-spaced out, but somewhat hard to get into (can't just pull straight into the parking lot from the main road). IT is very close to the I-275 entrance/exit though. I would suggest Kroger Marketplace or Meijer for one-stop shopping instead of here if possible. read more

If I could never go to a Wal-Mart again I would, but unfortunately that won't happen. They just so happen to be open at the crack of dawn when you need things like windshield wipers and the auto places aren't open yet. I went to Walmart before work for wiper blades I bought the wrong ones (that was my fault). I go to customer service no one was in line and there were 3 women behind the counter. I'm walking up trying to make eye contact with someone but that doesn't happen. I wait a couple seconds thinking someone will notice me just be patient. One woman goes into the office and there are two behind the counter not more than 5 feet away. They are turned towards each other talking about who knows what. I said "Hello"... I'm not acknowledged. Now I've worked in customer service for 10 years, I was taught the customer always comes first. No matter what you are doing no matter how important you think it is you always acknowledge the customer. You don't have to help them at that exact time but you do have to at least say something like "hello, I will be right with you. I didn't get anything. I said, "hello, I need to do a return (I thought this was kind of a stupid thing to say, obviously, why else would I be standing there but they didn't seem to notice I was there and I may as well say something because apparently they can't see me there). Then without looking up a woman said I'll be right with you. THANK YOU!!!! That's all you had to do from the beginning. She did my return and I was on my way. I don't care if you hate your job, 1. be glad u have one 2. You wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for paying customers like myself What is happening to our society that people who work at places in customer service somehow do not know how to be courteous and polite or how to SERVE the customer. Perhaps these women need to be put in a position like cleaning toilets where they don't have to serve customers since we customers are such an annoyance and inconvenience. read more

This has got to be the worst Walmart store ever built. The customer service is horrible. I went in to purchase an air conditioner and I found a whole skid listed for $18.84 now per their store policy they have to give you the product for what it is listed for. I spent over an hour arguing with the late night store manager about this. First, she was going to do it till she found out how much the air conditioner was then turned and said that's not our policy( LIE I use to work at Walmart also 1800walmart still stated it is their policy) I was told to call and speak with the store manager. I tried to call today and was given the run around then I was told he does not speak to customers. I have put a ticket in with corperate. Overall I will be skipping this store from now on and taking my business elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but Walmart isn't full of great deals like it was just ten years ago, even five years ago. Remember when they had everybody beat on everything? Not so much anymore. I find myself in Walmart, not so much for great deals, but for the fact that they have anything and everything. Anyway, about the Ft. Wright Walmart... It's located in just the right spot to attract rednecks AND people from the ghetto. I'm not here to knock anybody, but you will see quite the variety of humanoids here. The store itself is below average. This location in particular managed to look old and grimy as soon as they opened their doors just a few years ago. I have noticed that they have put up a new sign and claim to have remodeled. Honestly I didn't notice the remodel, but I did notice that they put up a new familiar blue and white Walmart sign in place of the red sign that had been there since this location opened. I never understood why this location had the red sign anyway. Another thing I noticed is that the front of the building doesn't say "super center" anymore. Not sure why. There's probably 100 checkout lanes but usually only 5 or 6 are open with hundreds of agitated customers waiting in never-ending lines. read more

Being from Florida we had some nice wallmarts. Here so far not so much! No one in the pant and hard wear section of the store! For a while I thought I was going to have to mix my own paint. Said screw that and went to lows! Cost more but over all better paint. How ever i will say the people in the oil change / tire place were good. I've stopped in here 2x over the last year and it's pathetic. I walked past the grocery area and noticed how crazy expensive their food is compared to Kroger. Everything in produce is $1 more. The mac n Chz is 25% more expensive. Some produces could be less expensive but the majority are overpriced and poor quality. Be smart avoid this place. read more

The guy standing at the front door began yelling across the parking lot as soon as I exited my vehicle saying "we're closed" as I approached the front door of the building the guy stood in front of the door and attempted to physically stop me from entering the store. I called ahead, I asked for this item, they said they have it, I went and it would not check into the system, I drove thirty five minutes to get there, the first time it was a headache to get them on the phone but I finally did, then after it would not scan I left and did chores I called back after about two hours I wanted to ask if they got it fixed, I tried and tried for over an hour trying to get them to answer the phone, Now normally I dont bother them But this time they said they had it and told me to come on. I think if you run a business you should answer your phones, I had dogs with me they where driven me crazy, all they had to do with answer the phone, I think I am done with walmarts in what you save in money you lose in the value of time, My time is worth way more that day then what I would have saved getting that item from them. read more

This is a great Walmart in a great location for NKY. The produce and meat departments are "meh" and the rest of the store is clean.

First time in this Wal-Mart and defiantly my last. I brought by soda stream tank back for refill and they pointed me to Customer Service. There was a long line when I got there but I thought I would wait- Wrong decision! There was one girl behind the counter working as fast as she could. At least 6 associates of the store walked behind the counter and left. I stood there 33 minutes (yes I timed it) until it was my turn. Then I was told I needed to step to the side to wait while she checked with people to see where they were located. Finally after another six minutes waiting I was told they were out! Smh. Is it just me, or does customer service stink everywhere anymore.. I walked into auto department with intentions on spending upwards of 400 on new tires. Then employee left the counter as I was walking up and didn't say anything let alone smile. He cut the first corner he could get to and didn't look back. So I stood there for a couple minutes to look over and see a mechanic shaking his head... First assumption was that he was referring to what the other guy just did. Then he asked what I wanted. I told him and he looked at the clock and said we don't have the time we are about to close. Mind you it was 4 and online it said they close at 5. I recently ordered a couple of items on walmart.com and had them delivered to the Ft. Wright, Ky store for pick up. My experience with walmart.com was fine. Everything arrived when it was supposed to if not sooner. It was the pick up that stunk. First, my husband went out there to pick it up. For whatever reason, the sheet we printed out did not have his name on it. Walmart would not give him the items. Ok. Whatever. They said he could bring me out the same night and I could pick it up. So, he did. When I got to the customer service area for that service, they announced they closed at 10pm. Really? They couldn't have mentioned that 45 minutes ago when my husband was there? Long line to counter and she was told they could not find any internet orders right now,,, when do you think you might have the problem fixed... We don't know anything. Sorry last chance Wal-Mart... I bought a picture frame that held 12 pictures, but with 2 glasses broke. I did not have the receipt, so I called customer service and asked if I could exchange it. The lady on the phone was very nice, she told me I did not have to wait in line, and to just go exchange it up front. I waited at the front for some help when a lady in a turquoise button up with a bad boob job got an attitude with me- "why are you up front when these people have been waiting 15-20 minutes?" Uhm probably because your employee told me to?? And just to add, the whole place was a mess, they didn't have what I was exchanging, so I had to get back in line to get a store credit. I was waiting for 10 minutes when I decided to climb over the counter and retrieve my frame, and walk out regardless the dirty looks I was given by the employees. Each visit worst then the one before. Three times tried to get an oil change. Given three reasons why they couldn't. Tried to buy a fish, found dead fish in the tanks and could see tanks were not being maintained. Should not sell fish. tried to buy paint no one there to help. just a note at register that paint mixer is broke. Each and every time could not get help. Today one of the sale people ask how to find a product. I replied; I'm a customer your the sales person. His reply; This is not my department. This Walmart isn't anything special, but I've seen worse. I've also seen better. It's nice because it has self-checkout, so I appreciate that. But the store seems a bit rundown. I like the pharmacy a lot (a few of them have gone above & beyond the call of duty to help me through some difficult insurance issues), though occasionally I've gotten some people at the pharmacy register that are not as helpful as the rest of the team. They also seem to do a decent job keeping the grocery shelves stocked, though it seems to me that their prices are not as low as they once were in comparison to the competition. read more

I wasted $13.00 on a empty dvd box... Today I bought a movie from Wal-Mart in ft. Wright, got it home and there was no disc inside. When I called to talk to a manager the person disconnected the call twice while I was on "hold". The manager asked if the disc was sealed, I told her that it looked sealed but I hadn't paid attention, so there may have been tampering. They refused to replace it, told me to look on the package for the manufacturer and contact them. Wow. DON'T SHOP AT WAL-MATT FOR DVDS. read more

I only shop here because of location and prices. I have a small mason jar home decor business. I purchase my mason jars at my local walmart because they always have them and they are cost efficient. I went in the other night and I asked an employee where I could find the mason jar side cap they usually have out. She replied with "I don't know". She walked off and as she walked off, I asked her what aisle the mason jars where in. I knew where they were, I just wanted to hear her response. She pointed to the aisle. I said thank you. I then found a group of walmart employees discussing a side cap and I kindly asked if they had Ball Mason Jars. There was a gentlement who was extremely helpful and guided me in the right direction. He went in the back and pulled out 2 cases for me. I found myself discussing my experience at this walmart with my roommate and then a manager came around the corner and asked me if I needed anything. She was polite and directed me to the SIDE CAP of mason jars. If that young lady didn't know, wouldn' the correct response be ... "I'm not to sure, but let me go find out". You should never point, it's always hand out. Or even better, take the customer to the desired item. I wish Target had lower prices because I would be there in a heart beat. read more

What to even say? This Wal-Mart is horrible. The isles are always a mess and missing common products, checkout is literally hell on earth, cashiers are slower than snails, self checkout always has multiple broken lanes so it's always backed up.... The restrooms are always a little nasty as well. They need to have more lanes open not 2 at a time and those cashiers need to have some speed to them. Because with only 2 lanes open and slow cashiers you get lines backed up pretty far. It's a pretty easy fix and doesn't take much. And for self checkout always being backed up.. I don't get how there's 6-7 checkouts up there and it's normally only 2-3 working? So no matter what check out option you pick you end up waiting 10-30 mins sometimes just to get the heck out of there. I used to work retail and seeing a store with so many issues drives me nuts! Management at this location clearly is lacking. read more

The customer service is awful. I go there regularly to get craft supplies and on a good day it takes 30 min for them to finally get someone to come cut fabric. Staff members will see me standing there and don't bother to ask if in need someone paged or anything. The only helpful person has been a lady named Billy. I see her often and she's always quick to help if she sees me. But as far as everyone else... forget it. They need to staff more people. It's absolutely ridiculous having to wait so long. They'll even page multiple times but still no one comes. I have to seek out someone and beg them to help me. read more

I recently mounted and balanced 4 tires here. The price was right and I had an estimate of 45 minutes to complete. After listening to the corporate cheerleader near the tire center I waited two hours before complaining to the manager. The end result was 4 tires mounted and balanced after 2 hours 45 minutes. When driving on the highway I immediately noticed vibration. Took the car to tire discounter and three tire were improperly balanced with 1 having no balance weights at all. The manager was nice but this place is the worst. read more

This Walmart is in pure anarchy. Honestly I think the only way to save this cluster gaggle is having multiple police officers stationed here. But who would volunteer to be at a store that has no security or management? It's a joke, honestly. I didn't feel safe walking in, I didn't feel safe being in the store and I didn't feel safe leaving. I digress, I did feel much needed relief while leaving the store. I'm not reacting emotionally by any means. One kind of feels compelled to take action and write a honest review when the second you and your buddy leave his car, a gentleman in clashing red camo starts looking into his car saying and I quote "nah it's too nice." There's zero employees dedicated to retrieving carts or stocking items. It's a sad day when you can honestly say "I am too classy for this Walmart." I can usually get in and out pretty fast by using the self checkout or express lane. It's well stocked and I can usually find what I need without having to ask. If you do need to ask, good luck finding someone. They are good about returns too. Overall, I like this Wal-Mart more than the other few located in NKY. read more
