Absolutely unacceptable…read more We brought in a mower and a rear tine tiller for repair. The mechanic who worked on the mower was excellent. Professional, helpful, and did good work. If this review were about him alone, it would be a very different review. Unfortunately, this review is about the tiller, the service department, and the fact that Kinkaid's allowed its service manager to lie to us and then try to charge us twice for the same labor. When we brought the tiller in, **we told them we suspected the chain had snapped inside the transmission case**. Before any work started, we were told the labor charge of **$150** would cover **both teardown and reassembly**. Any parts would be separate. That was the agreement. After they tore it down, we were told the **ground shaft was broken** and that the part could not be replaced. Based on that diagnosis, and trying to save them time, we told them not to bother putting it back together. Then we got the parts back. The **ground shaft was not broken**. There was wear. There was damage to the sprocket from the snapped chain. But the part they claimed was broken was **not broken**. To make it worse, one of their own mechanics later looked at it and agreed it appeared repairable and needed about a **$10 chain**. But when my husband spoke to the service manager, the manager doubled down on the false diagnosis and tried to say we would have to pay labor **all over again** to finish the work. Read that again: we already paid **$150** for teardown and reassembly, and after giving us a diagnosis that did not match the actual condition of the part, they tried to make us pay a second labor charge anyway. That is outrageous. That is either incompetence, dishonesty, or both. Either way, it is completely unacceptable customer service. Kinkaid's lost us as customers for life over this. We will drive out of our way, go to another town, and spend our money literally anywhere else before we give this business another cent. And to anyone considering using their service department: **double-check your repair ticket. Double-check the diagnosis. Ask to see the parts. Ask questions.** If they were willing to do this to us, I would not trust them to be upfront with anyone else either.
