As Walmarts go, I think this is the best one I have experienced. It is clean, orderly, and seems to have anything I need when I visit Colby.

We were stranded in Colby for 48 hours due to car trouble. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, Walmart Pharmacy was in walking distance. We needed an emergency refill on a prescription. The pharmacist was extremely helpful. read more

Do NOT!! Do NOT!! Get your passport photos done here!!! The County Clerk, when she saw the Walmart Photo envelope said, "Oh no, you didn't get your pictures taken at Walmart did you?" They were unacceptable, too close up and the top of my head was cut off, and would have been returned by the passport agency causing delays in my travel plans. She said Walgreens in Hays is the only place that knows what they are doing. Does anyone know how to do their job anymore? read more

Today The Rolling Romantics stop by the Walmart @ 115 W Willow ST in COLBY, KS 67701. This is one our main Walmart's that we frequently stop at for our monthly needs..Today May 29th , 2017 approximately 16:00 I went to Guest Service because I wanted to return a money order I had purchased 05/21/17 @ 17:01. Receipt in hand and unmarked money order. I explained to Chris that I no longer needed the money order for purchase intended. Chris proceeded to tell me he had to treat like a check and he needed to see my ID. I asked him why would you treat it like a check when I am only wanting to return it as is and he could place the return on my Walmart card but I was not paying to cash it when I already paid to purchase it. That to me was not logical so he proceeded to read the rules from a guide he had and said it has to be treated like a check. I told him I wanted to see management because you obviously don't know for sure and I want to be sure. Because if that is the case I will wait till I get 231 miles down the road and just deposit it into my Chase account and not be charged twice.. Chris requested a manager and while waiting told me they are going to tell You the same thing. Supposedly Brett is a Manger here at this location and approached me with a look on his face as if I had bothered him from his break. I immediately said to him , this is my question why would I be charged to return a money order I purchased at this location and never used and only want to return it to make a purchase and the rest of the money added to my Walmart Card ( now mind you I didn't have to put it on my card I could've just got all the cash back). I never used it for purchase intended so I would like to return it but while I begin explain to Brett, Chris choose to interrupt and I politely asked him to let me explain he had an opportunity to help me.. but then Brett rudely stood at stance and said no I have to listen to him you can't explain it. I was upset at is unprofessional behavior at this point and walked out... Once I return to the truck I explained to my man I wanted to just wait till we get to Chase and I never want to stop here ever again in life. I decided to call back to the store to get the name of the clerk in customer service that needs to be retrained and become more knowledgeable of the department he is offering customer service in. Also to let Brett know you should never treat any customer like you did me and offer a better approach to customers when offering your services. Also to Krissy that informed me when I called back that she couldn't give me Chris's name because that's against companies policy. I am pretty sure hanging up on a customer is also against companies policy. Once I called back I did get a young lady on the phone which stated her name was Kris and she worked in the office and was kind enough to apologize for the others behavior and stated that she wished she had the opportunity to assist me but was dealing with officers at the time. I do appreciate You. This is not my first incident at this particular store but this is the worse and I will choose to stop where our dollars are respected and appreciated.. P.S. I walk in wasn't greeted but the couple ahead of me was then I go to the back they don't have the tv so I stop by nail aisle because I need circle oil and loss prevention is pretend shopping ummm ok . Not 24 hours like it says on iPhone. Good place to overnight if you need. Limited selections but has nearly everything you could need.

Even though this is considered a Super Walmart the size of the store is about the same of the non super stores. Despite that it has about anything else that it's other locations would offer. Different stores carry different things as I found out and while I did not find a screen graphic t-shirt that I saw at another Walmart they still have the basics covered despite the size. read more

I wanted to purchase something from the sporting goods department the other day and I waited no less than 35 minutes for someone to finally show up to help me. Actually, I waited 5 minutes without seeing a soul, went to electronics and asked them to page someone, waited another 10 minutes (not a living person in sight), walked to the customer service desk and asked them to page someone, and waited another 15 minutes for someone to show up. FINALLY, someone did show up and I got he license, so I guess there's something to be said for eventual service. If you need to go to the bathroom during your visit if suggest planning ahead because the bathrooms look like they are cleaned once a week, at best. Toilet paper in the floor, dirty floors, no soap in the dispenser. I'd chalk this all up to one bad visit except that it's like this every visit. God help your soul if you ever have to return something. Guaranteed there will be 15 people in line and only one customer service rep working. I know it's tough when stores are short staffed, but this place is really in sorry shape. read more

I've never written a review for a Walmart store, who does? Answer: mostly only people who are angry and want to complain. On 12/9/18 my husband was on a business trip as a wide load pilot car driver. He was experiencing the van not starting and we needed help. Pilot car drivers (cars with all the lights/signs behind lane and a half wide semi trucks) have to follow specific routes & travel only during non-curfew hours, so he doesn't have the choice to just stop anywhere, anytime. I called from Michigan, he was in Kansas and this Colby store was nearest to where he thought they would stop for the day. The lady who answered the phone, Cheryl, was so polite and helpful--let me explain the whole car issue, and so on. They don't have an auto service area but do have auto parts so she transferred me to Kendall, who was helping another customer but picked up the phone quite quickly. He checked for me, and they had a heavy duty battery at a great price to fit our 2002 (yes, 2002) Astro van. He told me how far away the next Walmart was in case they didn't stop for the day in Oakley, and was SO helpful and polite! And this was just me on the phone, not in the store standing in front of him. These service people couldn't have done more or been more pleasant! Neither rushed me nor made me feel unwelcome to call. Don't accept all the reviews on here as an every day example of this store--they're great! Thank you! read more

This Walmart is like all others but it has a smaller selection of items. The one nice thing is their clearance section can be very awesome and save a ton of money. I love going to this place. read more

The store was great, but customer service was awful. An employee named Shelby was checking us out when the machine was malfunctioning. She tried over ten times until her coworker came over and finally did it manually (what a concept). I wouldn't mind the inconvenience, but every time we tried to help, she would immediately respond being extremely rude and patronizing. Not cute Shelby, not cute. read more

This WalMart is something else! The biggest problem is the employees--it must be a requirement to work there that they be completely incompetent or just freaking weirdos. The Hays and Goodland stores employee normal people so it's just not the company. This is the only WalMart I've been to that the employees are sketchier than the customers! LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG. lines at the checkout, and expect the checkers to make strange comments about the items in your cart. read more
