Antique Photo Parlour

When I was a kid, I wished my family could get an antique portrait done. Then again, I was a…read more12-year-old girl who loved to play dress-up, wished she was Laura Ingels from "Little House on the Prairie" and who wished my family were as cool as the one on the show "Family Ties." So I'm not how sure an antique portrait would have made me. By the way, I realized later my family was WAY cooler These antique photos used to be super cool. That special effect, sepia, made all the old props and clothing work. It was something old-fashioned and novel. But now, the sepia effect is easily achieved on your personal home computer and can be applied to any photo you take. Photography has transformed as an industry, and people will sooner spend their money on glamour shots of themselves or Anne Geddes' style baby portraits. Needless to say, the Antique Photo Parlour isn't very busy. Afterall, I'd rather get dolled up like a movie star or famous historical figure like Cleopatra or Joan of Arc or a pop star like Christina Anguilera or Madonna then dress like a conservative, stuffy old woman from the Victorian era. Bor-ring. And the photos are really kind of cheese.

Just had photos done, not impressed with the photographer, (young blonde girl). She didn't…read morepostition us very well, nor did she check to see how our clothing was fitting us. She was too busy rushing through the shot so she could go on her coffee break. She didn't allow you time to get ready, she would just say smile and click. The shop is awkwardly put together. Curtains do not conseal the change room entirely, no full length mirror for customer to check themselves, thus however the picture turns out is what you get. The owner, Fay was polite enough to offer us a retake, but we decline as we were running out of time in the day. ... I would suggest if you do go and get photos done, make sure you check each other before the picture is shot.....and keep in mind, if you get photo shop done, make sure it is all done all at once, otherwise, there is a hefty fee of $10. On the plus side, the activity was still fun.
