I work for a program called Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) where Guard and Reserve military members do their "two weeks a year" within a community. It's a win-win as the community gets the benefit of the training - in this case dental, optometry, and medical care at no cost to them - while the military is able to train in a hands-on real-world mission that offers sustainable benefits to the community they're training in.
Once a Walmart finds out we have military members training and benefiting their local community, they want to donate. Water, supplies. Being the military we cannot accept donations, but our community partners can, and usually they'll donate to the community partner.
This Walmart donated a pallet of water which was gratefully used by the community to share with the people who were waiting for our services. Thank you Walmart! read more
