I have NEVER written a review for any business before. But this was a horrible and frightening experience. And I hope they will read this review and retrain their employees to handle problems differently in the future, so that maybe another person won't have to go through the same thing I did.
I went to this station to fill up my car, and stopped at one of the many open pumps. I pulled out my phone to check my bank balance, and make sure I had enough money in checking to fill up my car. While I was doing that, my husband called, who was at home with our newborn, so I quickly answered to make sure everything was ok. That call lasted less than 2 minutes. During that time, a man pulled up behind me in a truck, and I didn't notice because I had been looking at my phone. Apparently, the other pumps had filled up during the 3 total minutes I had been sitting there, and instead of coming over and asking nicely if I could move, this man got out of his truck, came over to my car, and slammed his fists against my car window over and over again... HARD... screaming "why don't you Fu@&ing move?!? You're blocking the Fu@&ing pump!!!" Waving his arms at me, stomping around outside my car. The pump on the other side of mine opened up just then, so he jumped into his truck and pulled up to that pump, and then he continued to curse at me, calling me names and telling me to go back to California (I'm a Montana native and have lived in Idaho and Montana most of my life, and have never even been to California) and screamed that he knew I was from out of town because I was so rude (I was sitting there quietly crying while he cussed me out, so I certainly don't think I was the one being rude!) and that I had to be from out of town because I had a nice car (I worked my tail off to purchase this car, putting myself through a doctorate program while married to an abusive husband, and then raising our two children alone, and I don't think any of that makes me a bad person).
While this was happening, a lady pulled up behind me in an SUV, so the man started yelling that I was being rude to her by not moving my car. But by now I was crying too hard to drive, and my car was on empty, so I still needed gas... and I was terrified to get out of my car with this man cussing and screaming at me, and beating on my window. The gas station attendant FINALLY started to come over, just as I was about to call the police. When the man saw her coming, he jumped in his truck and sped away. The attendant came over to my window and saw me crying, and said in a rude tone "I need to know what the problem is here. I checked the last transaction on this pump, and it was 20 minutes ago." Remember that there were MANY open pumps when I pulled up to the station, and there was no one pulling away from the pump where I was sitting. So I have no idea how long ago the last person had left before I pulled up to that pump, but at this point I had been sitting there for about 3 minutes while I checked my phone, and then about another 5 or 6 minutes while a strange man hit my car and cussed at me, during which time I was afraid to leave my vehicle. I shakily told the attendant what had happened, and she responded, "yeah I know, I saw all of that, so what's your problem now? Are you going to get gas or not? I just need to know because the last transaction on this pump was 20 minutes ago." I repeated that I did need gas, and that I would be happy to pump my gas as long as the man who had been harassing me had left the area, and that I had been afraid to get out of my car with him there. I was still crying and shaking at this point. She said "well he sped away," still in a very irritated tone. And then she walked off in a huff. So I pumped my fuel and left.
I will NEVER go back to WalMart for fuel. How dare they allow a man to slam his fists into my car, cuss me out, scream at me, and then come out and basically tell me to get out of the way? The attendant never asked if my vehicle was ok, or if I was ok, or apologized for what had happened. All she cared about was the last transaction time on the pump I was at, even though she had several open pumps and even though I told her I had been afraid to leave my car to get gas. It should never be ok to beat on someone's car at a gas station and cuss them out and scream at them and insult them, the attendant should have called the police as soon as she saw what was happening. The safety of their customers while at their station should be their top priority.
I should have called the police anyway and reported the guy, and had him brought up on charges for harassment. But I didn't, because that's not the kind of person I am. I expect other people to treat me with respect and kindness, and I always try to do the same. But don't use this Walmart if your own safety is a priority, because they don't care about the safety of their customers... just how quickly they can get you in and out. read more
