The four of us were grateful to be squeezed in early on a Saturday night. I am not one for plain emulsioned walls and laminate floors, Lasan can get away with it, here can't. The decor needs a lift, they didn't over spend on the Newly Refurbished WHT. It is licensed but you can take your own and we did. It was a busy night with a broad mix of customers & families. A couple of tables were loud, too loud, made worse by the acoustics. I'm no kill joy but this is second on my list of noisiest restaurants. It could be different next time, God forbid it be worse.
The service was ok and staff pleasant although a bit pushy with the drinks.
The meal was nearly very good but unusually it was let down by the rice.
I ordered Fried Rice but Special Rice came with the meal, it was too late to put it right as the curry was already on the plate, please note I (& perhaps others) prefer to serve myself. The special rice was very poor, dry & tasteless and unfortunately it spoilt the meal. I did tell them and they were apologetic.
Finally the bill, it came as a bit of a shock, taking your own alcohol doesn't seem to soften the damage. I then understood while many were even taking in their own soft drinks. At these prices they'll be providing their own poppadoms & chips next. I was also disappointed that no credit was offered for the rice error, sorry Tom that credit would have been your tip.
Overall 4 Star food (or 3 Star with rice) but 2 Star VFM. read more
