Cliff & Louise Wayenberg started Walking Holiday Ireland to share their love of hiking and trekking and indeed the history, mythology and legends of Ireland with you. Hillwalking and avid hiking and trekking enthusiasts they were both inspired by the local beauty and history and were amazed that the beautiful Cooley / Gullion and Mournes were overlooked by all but knowledgable Irish hill walkers that have known for a long time that this area provides some of the best hiking and trekking routes in the land. With the peace process firmly established it is about time that hillwalkers from around the world discover this amazing hiking area of natural outstanding beauty! Cliff Wayenberg is a Dutchman who has lived in Ireland for the past 17 years and together with his wife Louise and their children have settled in Blackrock, a small village on the coast just south of Dundalk. They are based in Blackrock, County Louth, just one hour from Dublin and Belfast.

Cliff Wayenberg is a Dutchman who has lived in Ireland for the past 17 years and together with his wife Louise and their children have settled in Blackrock, a small village on the coast just south of Dundalk. They are based in Blackrock, County Louth, just one hour from Dublin and Belfast and also known as 'The Land of Legends'. This is a hiking area steeped in myth, legend and history, going back to the pre-historical days of the Táin Bó Cúailnge (Cooley Cattle Raid) and Cú Chulainn. Later it saw the influence of the Vikings as seen in the name of Carlingford Lough.
