Mixed with the pleasure of weaving thru the endless shops for luxurious Italian linens and artfully crafted ceramics. The evening plans were filled with delicious fresh local fish and sinful carb-laden bread, pasta with famous Italian gelato for dessert. well, the eating was not a problem but the rain poured down! AND thank God it did as it forced us off the beach and into the charm of Italy. Meet Marco Predieri(see photo). Tour guide, artist, owner of the company Off The Beaten Path! (Side Note: think synonymously: As "the most interesting man in the world" is to Dos Equis, Marco would be the brand/face for Italy"s Peroni or Moretti!) When beaches and shopping seem to be just scratching the surface of the amazing Positano and you want more or something different... call Marco Predieri. He was a wonderful, knowledgable tour guide! He knows the Amalfi Coast inside and out! He speaks perfect English and he is a walking history book. He will take the time to understand your needs and help you custom plan your itinerary. We had the great surprise of engaging in a few tours he offered that were literally off the charts. We went on amazing hikes seeing ancient waterfalls thru acres of pristine lemon groves. We took a cooking class in the kitchen of a gorgeous restaurant-side by side with the master chef. We went on a private boat tour along the Amalfi Coast with detours to cave dive and eat in a hidden gem of a fishing town. My only regret was there was not enough time to see and do all the wonderful tours he recommended. Marco makes you feel like a friend who has come to visit Italy for the first time and he wants to show you what you may not otherwise get to see. We felt like we were being escorted thru the town with an old friend who introduced us to his home and friends. The experience was a dream come true!

He picked us up at the dock in Positano shortly before sunset. We had a short sunset cruise before dinner while he told us about some of the local area and we chatted about our lives. We were able to sit on the couch on the front deck of the boat (felt like celebrities!). We pulled up to the dock at Lo Scoglio as the sun went down and enjoyed a leisurely dinner there. Afterwards Roberto returned us to the dock in Positano. I would definitely recommend this experience!

Unbelievable. The M.A.R. museum offers tours that include two crypts under the main church, and the…read moreremains of a Roman Villa under the crypt. The crypts are very cool - the villa is unbelievable. Currently only one room of the villa has been excavated, but that includes two walls with the most spectacularly preserved frescos - way better than any of the walls in Pompeii. The details are so well preserved that there are still plaster reliefs of cherubs, sea horses, etc. on the walls. It was stunning. The whole tour is absolutely worthwhile - our tour guide was great and knew a lot about the site. She said they're currently working on excavating other sites in the vicinity - hopefully that's successful! Either way this is a can't-miss stop in Positano. The tour was quick, about 20 minutes, and worth every penny.

He recommended the absolute best places to eat and provided wonderful commentary about the region during transport. For those concerned about a language barrier, his English is great. He was easy to communicate with via email during the planning process: He always responded promptly and was very thorough. We just loved Lorenzo. He made the trip so relaxing and stress-free. He took care of us during our three days in Sorrento, and, as I said, his recommendations were always spot on. he is a very kind-hearted man who is genuinely eager to make everyone's vacation a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My wife and three…read morechildren decided to stay in Agerola which is great because where we stayed we were about as high up as you can for incredible views and had plenty of room for a great price, but being so high up in the hills we needed a reliable driver service. Valentina, Marco, and Giuseppe were all extremely knowledgeable of the areas, well connected and professional. We utilized Sami's services for pick up from the Naples Airport, an Amalfi coast day tour (Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello), a Pompeii historical/Vesuvius winery tour, a drop off/pick up Maiori beach day, and drop off at the Naples train terminal. For us this was the best way to vacation in Amalfi for overall value and safety. Amalfi is beautiful but difficult area to get around due to the winding narrow roads with extreme traffic, elevation, and lack of parking. I could not imagine a better driving service than Sami.

We waited at the bus stop where we were introduced to our host, Antonella. It was us and 3 other couples; 2 of them were also on their honeymoon and the other were on their babymoon. Antonella took us around Praiano where we foraged for our food. She also was very knowledgeable with the area and was telling us little stories. After about 1-2 hours, we then went up to the restaurant, M'Ama (I believe that was the name). It was beautiful -- had a great view of the water and mountains. We then met Antonio who also helped us during our cooking class. We had a beer tasting and then 2 wine tastings. We made our own pasta, we tasted a bunch of different cheeses, we made a salad, dessert, it was all so fun. The time FLEW. The food was DELICIOUS and the experience was so unique and cool. I highly recommend doing this if you are in the area -- well worth the money!
