I recently visited the Ulta here in Statesboro, Georgia, and the birthday rewards system was a…read morejoke. Both my sister and my little cousin had their apps ready to claim their birthday gifts, and neither of them could because the system wasn't working. A cashier said we might have it in our emails, but the emails also weren't working (that's completely not our fault). Ulta advertises birthday rewards as part of the customer experience, so if you're not going to honor them, it feels like a scam. Then when I went to check out, I was expecting to get my Benefit free gift since I purposely got more products to hit the requirement of money spent to redeem a gift. The cashier didn't even mention it. I only found out later--when my aunt tried to redeem hers--that they were "out of stock." And when I asked if I could redeem it later when they get back in stock since I paid the amount to receive a gift, the answer I got was that the gifts are "first come, first serve" and "limited quantities." Fine, if that was communicated beforehand. But it wasn't. We had a lot of help from multiple different staff members that had the chance to tell us they were out of stock or give us any kind of information at all, honestly. I wouldn't have picked out random things to hit the requirement if I had known there was no gift to redeem in the first place. At the very least, employees should tell customers upfront when rewards are out so we can make an informed decision, not find out after the fact when it's too late. On top of that, this is supposed to be a birthday perk--something fun and celebratory--and instead it ruined the whole experience. Ulta needs to fix this broken system and actually make it right for people who leave empty-handed. And let's be real--there's no way I'm the first customer this has happened to.

This is directed solely at the Brow Bar, located in Ulta. I went and received an eyebrow wax. A few…read moredays later I noticed a few bumps coming up and thought it was the normal breakout that appears after a wax. The wax was not hot and the girl did a fabulous job. A few days later my "bumps" became blisters and started to spread over my forehead to places that were not in area that had been waxed. I called and went back in to Ulta to see why this happened. I was told that the girl that waxed my eyebrows was not the most hygienic person. The only thing I can think of that she used was her makeup brushes that are used to show customers samples and such. I was told that it may be a fungus and that I should get Selsun Blue and that should clear it up...today almost a month later..I still have a few "bumps"..and I can honestly say that I will not be going back to Ulta.

This was my wife's first time to ever been there and the first time she has had a pedicures. She broke her leg at school and after being off my feet for several weeks I took her for her FIRST ever pedicures and she just loved it. Poor customer service by the owner, I presume. I was shopping and being helped by the woman on the…read morefloor. I made a phone call and was repeating out loud the items the person on the phone was telling me I should get. I remember one being an item the woman helping me said was kept behind the counter. I simply said "Ok" and continued to grab what was on the floor. The man at the counter heard me on the phone repeating what I was told to get and took it upon himself to ring up the item that was behind the counter. (I was wondering why my total was so high but I didn't take the time to look in the bag or ask him to run to through everything. Big mistake.) When I got home and looked at the receipt I noticed a $36.99 item on it. Looked in the bag and saw a tiny bottle of product (Bold Hold) and realized it was what the lady said was behind the counter. I took the item back, as I did not ask for it, and was told I could not return or exchange it. The man told me "I heard you on the phone over there say you needed it" and asked how could he ring it up if I didn't tell him to do so. That's my question, sir! I said I don't even know what it is. He briefly explained what it was. Nothing I needed or wanted. I asked to exchange it for something I would actually use, totally giving up on the refund. No. He refused to break his policy (which he the pointed out on a top shelf, near the ceiling, behind the counter and merchandise, on a handwritten faded sign) and said that it would cause too many problems. I kindly asked how as it wasn't even opened. He was visibly irritated/annoyed. He refused to accept my plea. $36.99 for a product the company themselves sells for $19.99. By the way, he said it's none of his business what that company does and it was wrong for me to even ask why they mark theirs up so high. I told him he lost a customer. Be mindful of what is being rung up and look high up to your left behind the counter for their return policy.
