The vibe of the studio was very clean and very quiet. All the artists use really quiet tattoo machines so you don't have the constant buzzing throughout your appointment. This was the most comfortable I've ever felt in a tattoo shop. Between the people, the cleanliness and the overall vibe, I would happily travel back (I live out of state) to get more work done here.

Sometimes inspiration comes, and you just run with it. So I scoured the web for possible shops to get some work done and I eventually found Gypsy Rose. I was a little wary because I had found the shop on the internet, rather than being referred to by word of mouth after meeting someone with work done by an artist. But James Ann was great. In addition to the piece of art she gave me, she also taught me the difference between real artists and guys just tattooing out of their basement. The two are extremes that should not be compared. Also, as proof of James Ann's awesomeness I have transcribed the following conversation I had with a random run-in in South Dakota. Me: Whoa, those are some pretty dope tattoos! Do you mind if I touch? (I don't know why but I really like touching other people's tattoos). Lady Barber: Thanks and no, I don't mind at all! Me: I'm actually planning on getting a tattoo while passing through South Dakota. Lady Barber: Oh, yeah? Which Shop? Me: Gypsy Rose. Have you heard of it? Lady Barber: Heard of it? I go there! The front desk customer service in Spearfish was very nice. Rapid not so much. On numerous occasions, they messed up my appointments and what I was being seen for. Keep in mind I was driving 3 hours for my appointments, and I received numerous calls stating I had missed or late for appointments for things that weren't even related to why I was being treated. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS they sent my biopsies out of network that cost me upwards of $2300 AND to top it off, not only did I pay it but in error ON THERE BILLING department side ran duplicate payments through my bank. Not only did I have to get my lead supervisor of my bank involved, but I had to block Blackhills Dermatologist from continuing to pull duplicate payments out my account. Given my experience, I have found a different dermatologist.
