I went to the store for the first time in a while and interacted with the rudest manager, watched her completely ignore her employee who talked to her and then heard another manager on a walkie talkie be incredibly rude while the check out person was helping me. What happened?? They used to have a happy go lucky kind of guy who was so nice and welcoming rather than scolding and biting managers who degrade their employees. There are still great people who work here, but the managers and the vibe of the store and customer care went from the best in town to the worst. I was so sad to see miserable employees who used to be happier. There were piles of stuff around the store blocking displays, Black Friday prep I imagine? It was not like that in years prior. I ordered at Starbucks and it took a pretty long time to get a tall latte, I really don't think I'll be back to the store as a customer -- the managers are driving people online and killing the store. I might as well go to Walmart with lower prices.

I come in, smoke half a blunt, am friendly and don't cause issues. I'm quiet. I sit on the couch and listen to music or go on my computer. Some people like me, but one employee has had an issue with me since I met him. I've done nothing to him - I don't even talk to him. I've never seen someone have so much hate, anger, and aggressiveness in their eyes every time they see me. It's very very weird and makes no sense. Today one of their employees was hitting himself in the head 'trying to get the devil out' '(his words.) He was all around the shop kicking and jumping and acting so oddly that I was extremely uncomfortable. I went up to the employee that hates me and said 'hey he's honestly making me uncomfortable.' As soon as I said those words he was angry triggered defensive, accusatory. He instantly gaslighted me to such a high degree bc I said those words. He told me I'm seeing things and that im just trying to cause problems along with a host of other things that didn't make sense. He was the victim as soon as I was vulnerable and said he's making me uncomfortable. When I first moved here one of the owners gave me death stares so often and was so intensely unwelcoming that I just stopped going bc it freaked me out so much and I honestly felt unsafe. Ive never even talked to that owner. Some just decided to hate me and give me the dirtiest looks. Ive never in my life gone into a store where I am a loyal customer and been treated like that. Ive supported them constantly, asking about shows they do, praising them. I decided to try going back to the store less than a month ago and things were good but they got worse and here's a prime example of why i don't come back. It's like they keep trying to get me to stop coming to the store even if they lose money. I am gay btw - and dress very masculinity. I can't think of why else they would have such a weird aggressive hateful attitude towards me. I have no idea. The footage in the store will prove the employees erratic behavior but I'm not holding my breath for anyone to apologize and tell me the employee shouldn't have done it. Im still the problem. Saving an employees ass sometimes comes before the customer for them. Like in this case. Some often find a way to just make you an enemy. When you're so high that you can't even function and are thinking and seeing things and saying that aren't there (has happened there before to me and many of my friends) and you chase off a customer so badly to the point they will never come back over saying something in the store is making me uncomfortable in a very calm voice then I honestly just feel sorry and worried and embarrassed for this guy. Very interesting hire. Lastly, when I came in awhile ago to ask about a vape and couldn't buy it because it was too expensive he was angry with me, had a huge attitude, and wouldn't stop trying to sell me stuff I had told him over and over I don't want to buy. He was shocked that i didn't get the vape - as if I did something horrible - and was judgmental and annoyed when i said i had to leave. Hopefully they don't choose you as someone they hate bc it is creepy as hell.

I was immediately drawn to the jewelry. She has a case full of gold-plated necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Another case houses more colorful jewelry pieces and bracelets with animal designs (lots of elephant detailed jewelry for the Delta women). Then she has a wall full of unique African-inspired earrings and necklaces, including some lavish, hand made pieces, complete with cowrie shells. Some of the jewelry came in sets, others had matching pieces that you could purchase separately. I went a little overboard on the jewelry purchases, but I knew that these were one of a kind finds. I was specifically looking for a dress or skirt. She has an entire area dedicated to clothing and fabric. I fell in love with the skirts. The colors and prints were lovely, and the material was top notch, not that cheap polyester material that some places sell. To boot, they are machine washable AND they have pockets!! (I LOVE pockets!) The skirts were $65 each. She also sells African foods, drinks, and skin care products. The 100% all natural butter (made from mangoes, almonds, and coconut; no animal products) is amazing. I bought a jar for $20; it makes my skin so soft, and it smells good. I spent a lot of moolah in this store, but I honestly feel that the prices are reasonable for the quality of the products. The owner was very friendly and helpful as I browsed for what felt like hours. I would definitely visit again on my next trip to the Madison area.
