A drug store is a drug store. I don't know anyone that ever really finds them convenient. You're usually at one if you're sick, or you're trying to prevent yourself from becoming sick. In a place like this your staff will make or break your store.
The person who I was dealing with was very......small town. There was an obvious preferential treatment toward the locals. They got great service. Myself and several other people who were very obviously not the neighbors ended up waiting 45-60 minutes to get routine types of prescriptions filled. This was very frustrating especially considering that two of the local families came in from the urgent care across the street, both from behind me at the urgent care, and on arrival at Walgreens. To their benefit, they and the younger kids were out sooner than myself. Being a parent, I appreciate this, and I would've asked for them to be helped first anyway. The line I did not appreciate was that "the prescription hasn't not been received yet" knowing very well that it had been sent prior to me leaving the doctors office.
The redeeming quality of this place was again its staff. With my extended time in the store, I witnessed a scene that is seldom seen in today's world. An elderly woman was there trying to fill a prescription for her husband. Her husband was not there with her and based on her telephone conversation with him was in dire need of his medicine. After trying to get the medicine names, all kinds of pertinent information off of the bottles and finally getting it, the poor woman couldn't find her insurance information which was new for the year. She got to the point where she was just going to drive the 40 minutes back home to her house to return again. The managing pharmacist stepped up and did the right thing. He jotted down some notes, and punched some things into the computer, and simply gave her the meds, "marked down to zero," and sent her on her way to be with her husband and to get him the treatment that he was in need of.
