Takes anyone a while to greet you and I dropped off a prescription on Thursday and let them know I could just pick it up Friday. Friday afternoon I called to see if it was ready and was told by the tech that it would be ready in 15min. I decided to wait until Saturday. Called multiple times with no answer. Drove up to drive thru at 1:00pm and no one was there so I went inside. Was told they didn't have enough and my prescription wasn't filled. He contacted the High street location and informed them I was on my way at 1:16. I asked if they would be open and he stated I could get my medication if I got there before 1:30 because that's when they take their break. I got to High street Walgreens at 1:27 and saw the windows closed and the last tech leaving. If the hours are posted for the public at 1:30 why is it closed before? So I rushed following the advice of Toby from this Walgreens only to be made to wait anyway. Just awful. Why do they not let customers know if they cannot fill the prescription or when it is ready? They rarely answer the phone which I attempted calling back to back for hours. It's a goose chase. I already don't like taking medication but should not be sent on a scavenger hunt to get a common prescription filled. read more

Absolutely the worst Pharmacy in Hampton Roads. There isn't one single person in the place who cares about what they are doing. The whole staff is sloppy in their acting and appearance. I'd rather buy my drugs off the corner of Fredrick Blvd. At least that dealer would smile while taking my money. I'm not even going to ask for a manager because this place is definitely NOT managed. This is the worse place to get your medicine. If you require medicine to live do not use this place if you can. They close randomly and you are unable to get your prescription. It is no better for the Walgreens on high street they do not answer their phone and hang up on you after a 22 min wait. I suggest a different drug store for a pharmacy. read more

Switching everything to another pharmacy. You get told to call the pharmacy about issues with your prescription and then NO ONE answers the phone! On my day off there was an issue with my prescription, and, just to test it out, I decided to stay on hold as long as possible as often as possible while doing other things. Needless to say; I am glad I'm not charged by the minute! I was on hold that day for over 4 hours total and I did not hang up ONCE! They would obviously pick up the phone (the hold music would stop and you could hear them in the background) and hang up on me! Btw: all they needed to tell me THAT time was they do not accept my insurance anymore! I had to go up there and wait in line for them to say those words to me! That was it! They couldn't give me a courtesy call or anything. I was without a VERY important medication for 2 weeks trying to get their mess cleaned up. I can NOT be the only person who feels this way about these large conglomerate pharmacies who trick you into thinking because a computerized VOICE takes your order, and affirms in advance that you have nothing to worry about, and your prescription WILL be filled. Yesterday I started to lose my temper, today I treated the pharmacist so badly, I'm embarrassed. But here's my point; I cannot think of one time that I've been able to walk into a Walgreens (CVS, Rite Aid, etc.) AFTER being told via text message, my prescription is ready, and have everything simply go smoothly. There's always a problem, it's NEVER ready, and the price is constantly changing. I have to take a drug that's extremely dangerous. In fact, if this medication is abruptly taken away from me (after using it for over 27 years), I could die. So, I assume any and all pharmacists ALSO know this. Yesterday I went to pick it up, dreading every second I waited until I was to pick it up. At the counter of Walgreens on Fredrickson Blvd. Portsmouth, a pharmacist actually looked me in the eye, and said they were completely out of stock. Not only was this Walgreens, but all the Walgreens in a 50 mile radius was also completely out. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED. My next thought was; 'I need to get to an emergency room. OMG how could this be happening?' She goes on to tell me that I should start calling pharmacies OTHER than Walgreens because as far as she knows it won't be until mid OCTOBER, that they will have this drug back in stock. In a daze, I'm completely outraged that I HAVE to call around, that I need to hunt my prescription down, by calling random drugstores, I think to myself, Why didn't they tell me this when they first ran out? Why did they put me in this dangerous situation. And when I say dangerous, I'm not exaggerating. So I remembered how much I love to use Mom & Pop businesses in my community, I flipped open my local YellowPages and the very first druggist I saw, (Drug Center Pharmacy),was still open and they had my medication . Wow, so I didn't have to expose myself to COVID-19 last night in some random emergency room. I was so relieved. I knew they were closing, and I didn't want to hassle them with the "Drug exchange " part. So today I called Walgreens and after waiting on hold for over 13 minutes, I told the pharmacist I found a drugstore and they have my Rx. I began to give the man the phone number and all my information, when suddenly he interrupted me and asks "WHAT'S THE DATE OF BIRTH?" I tell him. That's followed by, "Okay, if you can have THEM give us a call..." I lost my mind!! "YOU WANT ME TO CALL THEM BACK AND HAVE THEM CALL YOU, give me a break." "I can't give you a break ma'am, it's Virginia State law, blah blah blah" Wow, I'm not even a human being to this man. And when I really realized that, I told him he just lost a customer. But something tells me, he really didn't care. And he probably gets that A LOT! EERRRRR! Makes me so angry And I'm easy going, it takes a lot to push my buttons. So if anyone is STILL reading this, and feels anxious about these places like I do, I have some good news. In Portsmouth (a stone's throw away from that Walgreens) exists the sweetest Mom & Pop's true Drug Store, called, 'DRUG CENTER PHARMACY'. I promise you, you will be treated like a person. No lines, and no waiting. Oh and they also DELIVER!! That's right. Free delivery. A beautiful girl name Ariana, helped me. She even listened while I spilled my anger over what had just happened. This location has got to be the worse pickup process in the 757. How does a pickup turns into me getting out the car? When I called to share my experience the manager/cashier apologized and hung up on me. You don't hang up on a customer and I'm tired of hearing we short staffed. The staff in this store are fantastic. Frankly they are the reason the store stays open. Walgreens has the worst online service I have ever seen. My wife needed two shots and I needed one. My wife scheduled the appointments on line and the site was a disaster. When she had finished or so she thought, she waited to give her opinion and was greeted with a basic out of order. When we got there, they had an appointment for me, but not for her. None of the registration Information was there, so we had to fill out new paperwork. In addition, we were told that due to a four hour down time, the pharmacy was behind on prescriptions. read more

Absolutely horrific experience getting medication refills. The staff are inexperienced, inattentive, and lack compassion. It's very difficult to get medication refills in a timely manner, and takes an hour to get to a Pharmacy representative for questions about prescriptions. This has been going on for years! read more

Finally DONE! They keep screwing up the refills or forget to refill them. The staff is not attentive and do not seem to like customers. I called since they left a message to call them. This is the worst pharmacy in the world!! You use the automated system to refill your prescriptions and they are never ready when promised. WHY? Everyone has placed a great deal of blame on COVID so I suppose it is to blame for the lackadaisical manner that attention is given to prescription refills. This is a nice Walgreens the pharmacy and floor staff are always very professional and friendly.

After being told to come back in two hours for my prescription filled, I came back and they didn't have it. It would have been nice for them to just tell me up front they couldn't help me. It was near the end of the day and my daughter was extremely sick. They told me to wait until Monday. I told them she would be dead by Monday. I had the "pleasure" of dealing with three different ladies in the drive through and all were condescending and rude, so it wasn't a single person but the whole staff. I watched as several people came to the window and drove off after not being helped. They would hit the call button and after several minutes someone would walk over pick up the phone and say "just a moment" without listening to them for a moment. I watched one poor lady with shaking hands try to open her door to hit the call button. After what seemed like 10 minutes she drive away too. I'm guessing the chain is so well known they don't have to try to be kind to customers. Go a block away to the Health Mart on Airline where they actually care about people. read more

I love this Walgreens. Their pharmacist know what's up and if they can help you they will recommend you to someone that can. Which is actually unheard of with today's retail system. Open up 24 hours can't beat that. They have a great selection of a variety of items. I actually take house guests here when people come from out of town and visit. If you're used to Duane Reade from up north then this is the only equivalent in the area. read more

The Walgreens on Frederick Blvd in Portsmouth VA has an attitude problem in the pharmacy. My husband wanted to change back to Walgreens when we changed to another when the Portsmouth Blvd store closed. It only took one time calling in refills to see this store still has issues and has for the last ten years. We called to get a prescription filled and gave her both insurance cards that my husband uses. They claim only one of them billed and we were left with a copay. We sent the prescription back to the other pharmacy and they ran it through both cards and we were left with a zero balance just like we have so far this year. I do NOT recommend this store. read more

If you are familiar with different Walgreen's, you'll notice that they are generally all set up the same way and are very uniform in fashion. Same up front parking, clean parking lot, employees have the same blue smocks and some have the same plastic smiles plastered on to their faces. Except for this one. This Walgreens is in an urban neighborhood (corner of Frederick and Airline) and employees a variety of different ethnicities. I have witnessed a total lack of respect for customers at this location by the employees and forget a smock and a smile, you'll be doing good if you get a clean shirt and a snarl. Since this is a urban location, I come to this Walgreens when I'm looking for a particular item that could be defined as urban in nature (certain makeup brands/items/shades). This is the ONLY time I come to this particular Walgreens. Even if I needed another item and this Walgreens was convenient, I wouldn't stop here. The parking lot is dirty, trash cans overflowing, derelicts hanging out in the parking lot harassing you and begging for money - who in the world wants to come here?! I only get out of my car if the coast is clear and I'm in and OUT in a flash. I do not pass go, nor collect $200. I haul tail back to my car as fast as these knees will let me. read more
