I love the employees, and they have always tried to right by me, but they are clearly overworked beyond any reasonable measure. This leads to mistakes sometimes, and there are always crazy delays. When I call I am usually placed on hold two or three times before I get someone. When I go in person the line is often more than 7 or 8 people and moves slowly because many of the customers are not all that "together". I can't get mad at the staff because I can see how hard they are working, but still avoid this pharmacy if at all possible. They already have more customers than they can handle. read more

DO NOT USE WALGREENS FOR PRE-TRAVEL COVID TESTING!!! I took the RapidID testing on a Thursday for a Saturday cruise. it was supposed to be a 24 hour turn around, until I called to get test results. At that time I was told (by a recording) 72 hours. They billed my insurance company, but I never heard from them at all. That was three weeks ago. I had to pay $150 to get tested at the cruise dock. My friends who went to other providers had no such issues. read more

I visited the Walgreens at 9430 Blue Ridge in Kansas City, MO. I had a terrible experience. The clerk at the photo department was very helpful but overwhelmed. After waiting 45 minutes for my password picture, despite being the only customer there upon arrival, I approached the manager and asked if she could assist me because the clerk had gotten sidetracked while helping me with my passport. She didn't even bother to look at me while walking by me telling she was busy. Another customer commented about how rude that was. This was shameful because the other workers were so courteous. Utterly despicable experience. Times three. I'm going to have to waste one of those 10 Xanax I had prescribed to me for my upcoming 7 flights to relive what I've had to endure over the past week in order to write this review. Holy hell, it's time for my 10th one-star review. 10 out of 609 are one star. So, you know it's bad. Walgreens on Broadway/39th St. is without a doubt the absolute worst pharmacy I've ever encountered in my life. Know that I'm hardly the most sheltered person, having had to travel to all parts of NYC, thanks to working in Social Services, and thanks to accompanying my clients to pick up their own prescriptions in various pharmacies all over the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Walgreens on 39th makes Lawrence's Dirty Dillons, aka meth head mecca, seem like CO Bigalows in Greenwich Village. To begin with, if you don't accidentally kill one of the folks that make the parking lot their HQ for god knows what nefarious activity, you will want to kill yourself as soon as you step up to the line at the pharmacy to pick up your prescription. Getting back to the parking lot (and surrounding streets): these people WILL WALK IN FRONT OF YOUR CAR ON PURPOSE. You don't have to wonder why. Doctors are you reading this? DO NOT RECOMMEND that your patients use this place. DO NOT call in prescriptions here. I think all St Lukes affiliates are the most likely to do so (ie, my new doctor). UGH UGH. Can I get another UGH. Although the employees at the regular check out counter are rather kind, I think that in order to work the registers at the pharmacy you have to be either: inarticulate severely mentally challenged too lazy to bother thinking or an asshole Why did it take an entire THREE attempts to get a prescription filled? Read on. Each attempt had one employee who would start to "help" me and then get distracted by some other mysterious "important thing" thus requiring someone to come over to me behind the counter and start the whole process again. Seriously. BOTH TIMES!! I was trying to pick up one measly prescription. You may recall that I mentioned three attempts at the beginning of this review. That first attempt had me walking right out after I saw the GIANT LINE at 4:30 in the afternoon. I really really needed that anxiety medication by the next day. Attempt #2 had them claiming that my doctor had never called it in. Meanwhile the next gal to help me told me it had in fact been called in and was ready for me, only they couldn't apply my insurance because "the machine is down. You'll have to come back later." *scream* Two days later, I mustered up the strength to go back. When I explained to the guy behind the counterthat the last time I was there that the insurance "machine" was "down" and this caused a bit of an uproar from the guys hanging out on the chairs behind me. "Sounds familiar," one of them said, and I turned around to kind of be on the inside joke with them, and realized he was leering at me. Actually he and his friend both were leering and I noticed they were both missing teeth and at least one of them was missing a limb. I turned back around, desperate to get out of there, retreating to the comfort zone of my inner self, repeating the following chant in my head, "Dear God, please turn me into a bird so I can fly far, far away." I might have even started rocking. I will never return here. I don't care how desperate I am for tampons, Halloween candy or to get Vicroprofen to relieve me from the pain of a wisdom tooth extraction. I don't care if I have to drive great distances... in the path of a tornado... to reach a different pharmacy that's open. This place doesn't need me to tell it to go to hell. It IS hell. read more

So I've decided that this Walgreens is definitely not worth three stars. In fact, it's really pushing it to give it two. This is probably because I've started filling my prescriptions here. The pharmacy staff are by far some of the most consistently rude people I've ever dealt with. The cashiers in the pharmacy part (but not the front lines) act like they are totally put out of their way to assist you in getting your medication. Excuse me, I know you're busy, but that IS your job. This is also the *slowest* Walgreens I've ever been to. During peak hours, don't be surprised if their is only one pharmacy tech available to cash out a line of 15 or so people. The only saving grace of this place is that it is open 24 hours, and you can find bizarre items, like glitter batons, in the check-out lines. read more

This is by far the worst Walgreens in all of Kansas City. There is always a wait in the pharmacy & they are always under staffed. We made an appointment for flu shots, got there 10 minutes early as instructed in the confirmation email & waited in line for 40 minutes only to find out they are under staffed & we'd have to wait another 45 minutes for the next pharmacist to come in. Keep in mind this is on a busy Saturday afternoon. Why would the store not be fully staffed?? This place must be run by a child. Do yourself a favor & go to a different pharmacy. My normal doctor is like a 30 minute drive and a wait and when I just need an easy and quick diagnosis, this place hasn't been too bad. I made an appointment this morning on my phone and came in about 5 mins early and was helped right away. The nurse is very receptive to issues and was thorough in what treatment to give me. And I didn't have to wait long at all for the prescriptions. The thing that swayed my visit was the awesome hoodrat in a gold car outside who pulled up next to me and said "I'm not gonna bother you... but you're real pretty...." Me: "Thank you" Him: "You help me out with some gas money to get to Grandview?" Me: "Sorry, don't have anything on me" Him: "Okay, see ya." I've been on hold over an hour and still nothing. I drove to the store and waited another 48 minutes in line before they answered me on the phoneXD worst pharmacy ever. It's kinda laughable, this place is quite literally everything you wouldn't want in a pharmacy. They're rude. They take a long time. There's people smoking crack as you walk inside. When I called my first time I was transferring to this location so after an hour and 48 minutes of waiting the operator I finally answered. She ended up being sooo rude and didn't take any of my information. Just to make sure I was safe (because my medicine helps keep me alive) I called ANOTHER location and asked what they needed to get a script transferred and sure enough THE LADY AT THIS LOCATION COMPLETELY BLEW ME OFF, SHE DIDNT TAKE ANY OF MY INFORMATION!!!!! I stopped by this Walgreen's specifically to participate in Kansas City Care Clinic's free HIV testing for National HIV Testing Day which I am a strong advocate of knowing your status because of the loss of a loved one to AIDS related illnesses and practice what I preach by stepping up and getting tested every year. This worked out perfectly for me because I needed to get a couple of prescriptions filled and pick up a couple of things. This allowed me to get every thing at once and not have to sit and wait or go back later for my prescriptions. The store appeared to be like every other Walgreens. Clean, good lighting, one cashier and a pile of people in the pharmacy. The pharmacy was very efficient having my prescriptions ready in about 20 minutes. The gentleman in the pharmacy that took my prescriptions and checked me out was very nice. I was able to pay for my other stuff there instead of having to wait in line for the one register up front. This probably wouldn't be a location I would visit often because it is not near my home at all. There are vagrants that roam around the area, which is not a problem for me, but make sure you lock up your vehicle and as you always should, stay aware of your surroundings. Also, be ready to feel like a criminal with a lot of items when you have to track someone down to unlock a case to get it for you instead of just being able to pick it up off a shelf like other stores. Huge kudos to the area Walgreens that partnered with Kansas City Care Clinic to offer the free HIV testing this year. By offering the testing at different locations, it will help more people to get tested. read more

This Walgreens Pharmacy has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I have been waiting in the drive through, boxed in, for 20 minutes now and have still not seen someone come to talk to/give the person in front of me their drugs. When I dropped off my prescription I chose to skip the drive through knowing this was a problem, and ran inside hoping it would be faster. The pharmacist, among what seemed like 10 other employees working seemed to be busy, but simply ignored me for a good 10 minutes before even acknowledging my presence. I've been frequenting this Walgreens for about 2 years. Its close to work so if I need something they usually have just the right combination of weird stuff from a hammer and broom to chips and soda, toothpaste, makeup, prescriptions and mineral oil. The store itself is great, its clean, I've had great interactions with everyone who works there and they are always in good moods and provide really great help if I'm looking for something. If you've never been to Midtown and don't know what to expect then read on. Midtown residents are quite unique. You'll find everything from well dress business folk, a group of teenagers and some guy dressed like flavor flav. You might get asked for change by someone outside as you go in or out. And there is likely a group of people hanging out on the steps in the parking lot just chillin eating Mcdonald's. Its great for people watching and I've never had any issues or confrontations but just keep in mind that you might run into some interesting people here. I've never felt unsafe just more like 'hmmm, that guy...' type of thing. And checkout is sometimes slow but you can use any of the checkout places in the store, not just the one up front. read more

I've always been creeped out by this location, ever since some random guy at a bar tried to pick me up by commenting that he processed my film and thought my pictures were cute - and yes, that really happened. But even though I'm sure that stalker is long gone (and who processes film these days, anyhow?), I still don't much like going here. Sure, they have the stuff that I need, but there are just a lot of sketch things about this location. - I am hassled for change on the regular here. I don't know why the street folk are more aggressive here than they are downtown, but they are. - It seems like everything is under lock and key. I guess they might have to deal with a lot of shoplifting (considering the aforementioned street folk) but I hate having to jump through hoops to get merchandise. - I don't know if I've ever seen more than one register open, and it always takes a long time to check out. Plus it seems that their computer systems crash all the time. I'll come in without much hesitation, but it's always kind of a pain to shop at this Walgreens. read more

Looking around, this place looks like last stop before your hit your death bed, cash your government check or maybe it is just a convenient place to hide out when the cops drive by. One time I went with my boyfriend to get quick outpatient service. He couldn't get into the doctor for weeks and the nurse here can write perscriptions. It was full on heebie jeebies as people walked by hacking up lungs and wiping their nose on their sleeves. I literally used my shirt as a make shift mask to filter out flying germs. On my next trip I needed to pick up a prescription. My thinking was that I would avoid all the above by using the drive-thru. Of course, still awful. I got in the clusterf*ck line where this lady debated whether to pick up a $10 prescription because it wasn't covered by insurance. While the debate went on, I Iooked across the parking where the iron fence had been pulled apart and bums were walking through the hole in the fence. One of the bums (a dude) was carrying a giant purse and I watched him sit down, dump it out and go through the contents. Obviously someone is missing a white patent leather purse with gold hardware. 15 minutes later after changing lanes, I have my prescription. Unfortunately, it wasn't for Xanax. read more

24-Hour Walgreens? Usually a good deal, right? Not in this instance. On Saturday night, I was experiencing some severe back pain - the kind that wakes you from a dead sleep. So, my awesome boyfriend went out to find me some Aleve - because that's the only thing I could think of that is OTC and might be able to help me... Silly me, I left my good stuff at home. In any case, he went out of our hotel room at about 3am and stopped at the first 24-Hour anything he could find. It was the Walgreens on 38th & Broadway. When he got to the door, a hand-written sign was posted for customers saying that the store wouldn't be open until 6:30am. What the heck?!?!?! I used to work for Walgreens! I would have NEVER anticipated something like this happening. I know that crap happens and you have to just roll with it. Where was the manager? The Walgreens I worked for would have had a manager come out - the Store Manager would have come out - to cover the shift. That's 3.5 hours that the store was down and they would have made at least $20 off of me and my boyfriend had they been opened when we got there... Disappointing, but true. Instead, my boyfriend went to the nearest gas station to get something to help me sleep without pain... read more

this goes out to the old white lady who works here. y'all wanna know how walgreens lets their employee treat customers like garbage? today i was there, and i was waiting in line, there was a woman and her sick child trying to check out and buy medicine, but the barcode wasn't working. old white lady told them to get the code. and as im waiting, old white lady decides she wants to gossip not only about her co-workers but about the mother and her sick child...ope and get this... she was talking all this crap to the wannabe "cop" that was "working" in the front. old white lady was mad because she couldnt go on her lunch break on time... so, the mother finally gets the barcode and old white lady decides to say to them "come on! hurry up!" the mother responded "look, my daughter is sick and i cannot force her to rush! if this was such an emergency for you, you should have called someone to get the code!" and she was right!!! there were at least 4-5 workers just lingering around. the mom was trying to help her sick kid who could barey walk and all this old white lady could do was treat them worse than what they already feel. she has been working here for years and i dont understand why she is still there!!!!! she treats customers like they dont matter. she talks stuff about her own co-workers right there in front of whoever is there. i dont understand how you can have someone so mean, disrespectful, insipid and just ugh of person working there!!!! i respect my elders, but this old white lady doesnt get shit from me. she never shows respect for others, so why should we? i cant even tell you how many rude and just mean encounters i with this old white lady and i have had it. i always try to be nice to her, but im done. if that old white lady is reading this, i hope you realize that you treated a sick child and her worried mother like shit. you had no feelings. you were so cold. you made a worried mother cry in front of her sick kid. read more

I'm not really sure why this Walgreen's is rated so lowly. I guess i am one of those people that think once you've been to Walgreen's, you've been to them all. I guess my only complaint about this location is service. They rarely have both registers open, and there is usually a long line. But that just gives you the chance to look at all the weirdos coming in out, so appreciate it!!! The take care clinic is not my favorite place, but they get the job done. And they get it done cheap. I have heard rumors that this clinic was misdiagnosing people to have them come back for repeat visits and whatnot to make more money. I do believe that is all rumor, but I guess we'll never know. read more

When I first discovered this Walgreens I was grateful. It's conveniently located near my apartment and it's open 24 hours a day. While this location has never been the quickest when it comes to service, something has happened in the last couple of months to slow them down even more. It does not matter what time of day or night I go there to pick up a pre-ordered refill prescription, it takes no less than 20 minutes (that's on a good day) to pick up said order. I don't mind saying and spelling my name, but when the teller can't get it right after 3 tries and they already have my debit card in hand with the name spelled on it, I start to lose my cool. I have slowly lost my patience with this location and will be moving my prescriptions to another pharmacy. I've never had to fill prescriptions here, so I can't really comment about their pharmacy service, but yeahhh this Walgreens is pretty much like any other 24 hour store in an urban core. All of us have pretty much experienced better, but I haven't had service so awful here that I'd never come back. The most annoying thing about this location is the inability of the staff to open up a second register when one register is obviously overloaded. I mean, help each other guys! I've had great service here (I'm looking at you, Photo Center staff!) and I've had crappy service here... and then been panhandled as I head out to my car. Comes with the territory! read more

I went for the Take Care Clinic because I was feeling crummy. There was an interesting check-in kiosk and two patients behind me. I had ~20min wait. I first saw a person that took my vitals and asked me what was going on, then she sent me to the nurse practitioner. The nurse practitioner took nearly 50min with me. (and ran a Strep test) Meanwhile, I learned all about her life and family and grandkids and the state of medicine...and ... ..... ... You get the idea. She wrote me a prescription that I asked to be written out because I wanted to take it to my own pharmacy. She sent it electronically to their own pharmacy, and I had to remind her that I needed a paper one. So she printed it out for me. And when I was about to go, I realized that she hadn't signed it...and so I reminded her and she signed it. Three days later, the pharmacy called and told me to pick up the prescription. :shakes head:: It was ~$80 for my visit. I could have gone seen a walk-in acute center clinic to see a doctor for $50 in Independence. read more
