So I've been trying to figure out how to word what I am about to post, I am a manager (was) a…read moremanager at the local Shop-n-Go in Clare. I work for an Indian owner (owners) dad is supposed to own it , however it's in the son's name? Ya we all know how that works. I started in April of this year. Have completely dedicated myself to my position and for this family (owner) (owners) since I have started due to the fact 3 employees that worked there when I started walked out at the same time. I was the only one left to help carry this store. I worked hrs I did not want to , and shifts for months where I did not get to see my family. Just to help them and show my dedication. I started out at $12.50 an hr, proved my loyalty & had a raise over time to equal out to $14.50 an hr. (At this time). They had me hiring & firing & doing all the ordering for this pay! I stood up for this family when the community degraded them, undermined them. I have litterly put my all into this position not only for the store but for the family. I've helped cover for the son to other employees and put not only my integrity but also my concious on the back burner to make them happy. I have watched them over these last few months hire people train and tell them we will get ahold of you & never hire them or pay them for their training. (Which is beyond wrong). I started to see what was going on , it became a pattern. I was always told by the son & father these wonderful amazing things I am getting a promotion without ever receiving it. By January I was supposed to be in charge of the store with full commissions from it. ( ya that was a lie). This past weekend my entire septic failed, backed up my entire house while the entire plumbing to my house went as well. It was an entire plumbing septic fail. It has been a disaster & not cheap! I called into work for my ABSOLUTELY FIRST TIME EVER !!!!!! THIS IS WHAT I RECEIVED from the son: ( You can take the whole week off -- don't come in. Your pay will be in an envelope for pickup. Since you're "cleaning" and handling your septic, take your time. I've got people to cover, so it's not a problem. I'll let you know next week if you're working.) !!!! Like WTF just happened !!!!! I thought I was imagining the txt from him! I knew instantly what was going on. I've seen it done to other employees. Then the father calls me, (don't bother to come in, I hired an Indian he wants 65 hrs a week. He has his green card). At this point I'm like am I insane , am I hearing correctly? Like no way this is happening. Come to find out (allegedly) I was being used till this said person got their green card finished to take over. I was just too dumb to realize what was going on even after the community and regulars warned me. I gave the owner (owners) the benefit of the doubt. Trusted them. Never would I have thought they would have done this to me with as loyal as I've been! I've kept quiet about them paying the Indian employees under the table, I've kept quiet about the illegal vapes, I've kept quiet to them selling to under age kids & Amish. I've done everything for them and this is how I was treated. (I REFUSED TO SELL TO UNDERAGE)! Yes they kind of argued with me said (it's money). The son even asked if I sold to a certain person daughter because he does. Like what! Well no sirs, I'm not going to jail! The one thing I refused to do. I asked why am I being punished and retaliated against because I had an emergency at my house? I even sent pictures (ones i would never share that gross of)! and told him to come to my house if he did not believe me! I got my hrs yesterday and was sick to my stomach. Two days! Two days! Sat & Sun opening a couple hrs only ! From my normal 40! That is clearly retaliation! I know what they are doing I've seen it done, they are doing it to a girl now , have her scheduled one day a week from her normal 30-35hrs , because she chooses not to come in on her days off. Well that's her right not to! It's her day off! They will not fire you because they don't want you to draw unemployment. The father just built a million dollar mc Donald's in India , they own the shell station on gratiot in Saginaw & the kawkawlin liquor store , & currently in the process of buying the Party Dock in Harrison. Trying to get their hands on Reds Oakridge as well. (So glad Jodi won't budge on that) Same thing is going on in the other stores. They are in my opinion (very wealthy) , and I'm sorry I am not! I can't just pay people , throw money at someone and say fix it. I physically have to get estimates , multiple people through my home. I am a NORMAL STRUGGLING AMERICAN! This entire situation has fucked me up. I'm hurt, sad, have cried , disappointed I didn't listen to people, and extremely pissed at the same time. I am not sure what route at this point I am going to take , but I do know I have every right to go after them for retaliation.

The minute you walk in you're going to be hungry, even if you just ate. The house smoked and cured meats can literally be smelled in the parking lot. DGS has everything from local North Michigan specialities to fresh produce and an array of MI butchery products. The star of the show however is all their house made meats... Sausages, brats, jerky, etc., DSG has it all. Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful... Some of the friendliest people we've met in a while. When we're in the Cadillac area again, we will no doubt make a point to get back to DGS to stock up... Two thumbs up.

The place facility was clean. Well lit smelled great. The layout of the displays were aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I was greeted with a smile and welcomed right as I entered. The bathroom was clean tidy. The soap, toilet paper and hand paper towels filled. I really enjoyed the alcohol selection of both beer and wine. What I was most shocked about was judging them from the parking lot. So happy I went in and am writing this review. If you get a chance to stop for gas, snack and alcohol please do.

So on our way back, in this pandemic, I needed an out of the way gas station and found it at M55 on the West end of Cadillac: Thirsty's! I rushed in the door doing the pee per dance but I was overwhelmed by the smell of ice cream and waffle cones. I asked where the commode was and what ice cream they carried (Ashby's, Hudsonville?) and the man answered "Homemade!" I'm like homemade? After relieving myself in the clean bathroom, I sauntered toward the parlor area and WOW! So many flavors.....basics like chocolate and vanilla bean, butter pecan, but some interesting ones like Kat Nip, which is a malt flavored ice cream with bits of Kit Kat bars in it, Creme Brûlée which is my absolute favorite, and much more! The waffle cones are their own recipe and they curl up the ends so the cone won't dribble too early. The service was EPIC, the social distancing and mask wearing was spot on and I truly feel like this experience is what has been missing from my life for the past 56 years. I'm sold and will make the effort to drive the extra couple of miles here from downtown Cadillac when I go shopping. Can't recommend this enough! Oh, and they sell quarts of the ice cream to take home too!

I…read moreunderstand the next penny rounding is confusing to some but since when does 1 penny round into 5 cents?This is also illegal to round everything up! When I politely mention 1 cent is supposed to round down he got extremely rude. When I handed him a penny after he started cashing out he got even more rude. Told me I was wrong and thats how the rounding works. All I said was then the registers are programmed wrong told me to get gas somewhere else. Dont worry I will never spend another dime here. Be rude with me and I will be just as rude!
