For the pharmacy only. This is NOT a review of the rest of the store. So, I absolutely had to contact Walgreens today, because I am leaving town and have to get my meds before I leave. The meds cannot be transferred. I started holding just after 4 p.m. and there were more than three callers ahead of me. At 7 p.m., I was still holding and yelling at the phone that "No, my phone call must not be THAT important to you." You know, you've been on too long to hang up now? That was me. I was supposedly the next person in line. Finally, my husband called the regular store and managed to get someone who said, "Oh, they didn't have a pharmacist this afternoon and had to shut down early.". EXCUSE ME??!! WHY WAS THIS NOT ON THE PHONE LINE WHEN YOU CALLED IN?? Information that would have been helpful THREE HOURS AGO!! I understand an emergency. Truly, I do. But when you don't put it up front and center when people call in, that is maddening! I am currently looking for a new pharmacy that's neither Walgreens, CVS, nor Walmart. read more

Walgreens - An "early" snapshot of my time waiting on the phone - Drugstores Near Me - Asheville, North Carolina

Since the pharmacy manager left this location has gone downhill dramatically. I just waited a half hour for a fill and was then told they were out of stock. They refused to transfer it for me to another Walgreens. I drove across town to another location only to arrive just before lunch break. They could not fill it because Merrimon still had it in their fill cue. So driving back over laster today. read more

We were told one price for a prescription over the phone and were charged 50% more for the prescription when we arrived to pick it up. I asked the nice clerk if I could speak to the pharmacist. The pharmacist didn't understand why I was upset about the price difference and wouldn't talk to me because she didn't like my "tone". I did not yell at her and did not swear at her. She just didn't like the fact that I was upset because we were charged significantly more than we were told over the phone. read more

They give you a 12:30 pick up time for prescriptions and then change it to we have no idea. Terrible service.

Scarlet card sold by Walgreens is a RIP OFF! AVOID BUYING SCARLET CARD! Very misleading. Card costs $1.95, then charges buyer $7.95 to access YOUR money before you even use it, that's after a big runaround just trying to access YOUR money!! Manager no help, cannot refund-just told me to call Walgreens corporate office and complain. DO NOT BUY THIS NIGHTMARE card! they have a low yelp rating because of the store not the pharmacy! by far the best pharmacy I have ever been to in my life. this isn't just a one time thing either. they have been so friendly and helping and caring and try so hard to work with you and get you what works for you and what you need as a human not just another face or customer. max and his staff are the best group I ever ran into. they really care and help you save money. very professional while being friendly and helpful. highly highly recommend this pharmacy to anyone in asheville. they treat this place like a private practice. The pharmacy at this Walgreens is completely lacking in competence, efficiency, and customer service. I have never had a completely smooth and easy experience getting my prescriptions or refills, and I often have a downright terrible experience. This seems to be a brand-wide issue, since I also had trouble with Walgreens in Texas; however, this particular one on merrimon ave seems especially bad. I currently have the flu and just got yelled at by pharmacy staff for pointing out that I am really sick and had to go to bed without my medicine last night even though the doc sent the prescription in at noon yesterday. If your insurance will cover ANY other pharmacy, Do It. Trust me. read more

Recently went to fill a prescription, it was an opiod pain killer. I was told it had the wrong date on it. This was the only time I didn't bring all my prescriptions with me. I felt put upon and embarrassed ( was not told in a quiet or private location) as there is so many issues with drug abusers... and felt I was being treated as such. I feel with my two year use of this pharmacy, this should of been handled with more kindness. I do not use these drugs to get high, I never have come in the store "out of it" and this pharmacy has especially one person -the fat girl with the constant puss on her face... Sorry but I don't know her name and am sure if you visit this store you know of whom I speak... SHE has the attitude. I am changing locations as I do feel that recently there has been issues, especially with these drugs ( and pharmacies should be more professional) and I hope the new location at least deals with there customers with respect... I see that this Walgreens has a history of screwing with people with pain prescriptions. If I'd known, I wouldn't have given them several years of business while treating myself to as much run-around and disrespect. I've been a chronic pain patient for many years, and anyone familiar with the concept knows the outright abuse that you already have to fight through just to get to a respectful doctor-patient relationship. Pharmacists are human, but if they're going to have issues with filling certain prescriptions, then they should pick another profession. Simple. I've been a customer at this location for years, and during these years, I've had several monthly scripts that have never changed. Missing days of these, I'd encounter not only pain but also withdrawal, something that pharmacy personnel darn well knows. You'd think that they'd have the scripts in stock every month, knowing I'll be back, considering ALL of our other scripts are there. But no. I've repeatedly turned in scripts up to a week ahead of time, only to be told ON the due date that it's not in stock and will need to be ordered, taking 1-3 additional days. I've also been told to call 4-7 days in advance to make sure that it's in stock on time, doing *their* job for them. And apparently they cannot put these paper scripts into the computer (which is ludicrous), so they're just in some file somewhere, waiting until it's time to fill them. They've actually (momentarily) lost a few! I could go on but really, what's the point? I'm finally pulling out of withdrawal from their latest "not in stock" nonsense, so maybe I'm just exhausted. As soon as we pick another pharmacy, we're moving our business outta there. From the hints they've been sending, I imagine they'll be just as happy to see us leave. read more

I have found the Walgreens staff to be quick, thoughtful and helpful. I get my prescriptions, Sunday paper and various drug store items regularly. I am surprised at the bad reviews. I only stumbled on the reviews as I was checking that they were open after they were closed last Sunday because of a glitch in their systems. Maybe many of us loyal customers don't do yelp reviews often. ‍ read more

I am so livid I hope the hell this doesn't cause another heart attack. Before I can actually get my medications. I had 2 heart attacks a year and a half ago , have been on clopodogril 75 mg since. I have had it filled through Asheville Cardiology Todd Hansen since then. This past Christmas I was going out of town and was already out of my med for a week but had n way of getting to Walgreens. I started to request refills b4 i left on vacation. Three times i requested it. Never got a refill. However, the Atvortistaton was filled correctly by my doc. I went to Morganton for the holidays, again tried twice to have it refilled. No luck. I kept calling the pharmacist and all they said was that my doctor had to fill out more paperwork. It is now 6 weeks that I have not had the absolute most important med i take to keep my alive and I still havent gotten it yet. Yesterday, I called them again. And they finally figured out they were sending the refill to my surgeon that performed my heart surgery 15 months ago. At Charlotte Meckl. Hospital. So yesterday, I call my cardiologist and they gave me another confirmation that they had sent it. However, today today i call Walgreens again....and the woman I talked to was very, as all have been, unconcerned to say the least. She said well whats my doctors phone number? Really? You dont have that? So I give it to her while I'm on hold. While waiting for her to speak to my cardiologist, my phone starts beeping, i ignore it as it was too important not to chance getting a lost call. Then I realize that it is her calling ME!!!!!!! Not my cardiologist. I've had my neighbor 2ce take the bus to Walgreens in this bad weather only to be told they dont know. Oh and the lady I spoke to earlier Tina Hudgens, had asked me if I would mind her calling the cardiologist today. Really? Ya THINK?????? And she was non plussed also. And her excuse was that the doctor never sent the dosage amount or quantity to her, that's why she needed to call him. So apperently she never did as the call i made tonight still had no idea what was going on. read more

I went into this Walgreens to buy my friend gifts for her 21st birthday. While checking out, I saw cigar wraps which I thought would be a perfect fun and funny little addition to her gift. I asked the woman behind the counter if I could purchase one, to which she immediately changed her attitude toward me and refused, saying "we don't sell wraps for dope here". I then pointed and ask for "the purple one". Excuse me? How dare a Walgreens cashier accuse me of using "dope". Old woman, I should have gotten your name. I work in retail and never would I ever consider making a comment like that to anybody, no matter what they are purchasing. I made a $130 purchase that day-you should treat me with respect and be thanking me. Instead, I was misjudged and accused--and YES, I am highly offended. I have been shopping at this Walgreens for years and I will NEVER be returning. Other than that, yeah it's a clean Walgreens and their products and pharmacy are usually stocked well. read more

The pharmacists at this location, as well as the technicians, are knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. I was concerned about drug interactions when taking over the counter medications with prescription medications, and each time I called the pharmacist was able to offer helpful advice. On several occasions, it was suggested I take a different over the counter medication because it would be more effective. read more

The worst... go to the CVS down the street. I went in to get my passport photo and the staff was really short with me, kind of rude, and two of the employees were snapping gum. The woman took my photo so fast with no lighting so it looks horrible. Never going there again. read more

Disorganized and brusque! Horrible customer service! Unfortunately the Rite Aide I used for over 20 years went out of business and Walgreens bought them out. I was told that my insurance would be valid at Walgreens and all I had to do was pickup my medication. Yesterday, I went to get a prescription that usually costs $30 for three months and was charged $216. They looked at me like I had two heads when I questioned the price. It took them over 24 hours and conversations with 7 people to find out that Walgreens does not accept my insurance. Luckily Ingles on Merrimon takes my insurance and they were very nice. If you don't have to use Walgreens go to Ingles or CVS. Save yourself the headache! read more

This Walgreens is a great store run by an awesome pharmacist Max who tries to personalize every customer's and employees' relationship with the pharmacy. Yes, they can be overwhelmingly busy at times, but most successful pharmacies are busy. All of the one star ratings I feel are likely due to the way the person was acting, not necessarily the employee. When a customer becomes agitated and mad that their script isn't ready, the tech is also frustrated. Everyone that I know who works there is kind and does their best to suit everyone's needs. read more

I have been using this pharmacy since it opened. Several years ago, I contracted a rare cancer. I would get conflicting info from triage nurses late night and would rely on Max Bible, the pharmacy manager, to give me the right information. I could also rely on him to go above and beyond on customer service, when I was too disabled to actually enter the store, but only come to the window. I am dismayed to read all the negative reviews here. I only know that this ole gal would probably not be here without his assistance. Max knows his meds better than most doctors....like those old pharmacists did. And he knows what really works on OTC. I am always having to help my other older friends with prescription information and I get it from Max. They ask me how do they get access to him if they live in Georgia, New York or California. I remember once, a few years ago, after a serious surgery, I called the after hours nurse with a problem. What she told me to do sounded off. I drove to Walgreen's before it opened and waited in my car for Max to come in...I told him what the nurse said and he said."no way with the surgery you just had...go to emergency...tell them to get the surgeon!' I did. The surgeon wanted to know how I knew to get him....I told him Max. He said good catch! Is he a doctor? I said no....my pharmacist! Thanks, Max!!!! Cissy Dendy read more

Had a less than professional experience at this Walgreens. Your employees aren't on the website just the pharmacist manager so I can't give specifics at this time. To start I'm on a a low dose of tramadol and my doctor and myself have found it to be a imperative that I take it regularly for my bone spurs, dengerative disc disease, and of course pain after a car wreck left me permanently impaired and with hardware. I recently visited my doctor for a routine physical and also explained that I had taken 4 xtra pills of my prescription after being in pain from a red eye flight cross country. No problem, he understood and wrote me a new prescription that I could fill that very day. Clearly this didn't translate to the pharmacist at Wal Greens and so when I arrived for pick up I was rudely denied my the prescription. Why couldn't they have just called to inform me of this instead of wasting half my morning? WalGreens is a half an hour and so is my doctor, I try to combine the two on the same day when in town. I asked why I wasn't called to be informed of this before I traveled back? She seemed put off and responded that they had "been busy". Next came the insurance factor as to why they couldn't follow through. I declared that I understood that insurance wouldn't pay for the prescription before 30 days and I would be happy to pay out of pocket. This was refused and I was told that it wasn't even possible. I was very perplexed at this point and they began to completely neglect me as I stood there in confusion. Finally I spoke up again inquiring about what the solution could be? To which the pharmacist reluctantly answered that she would need to speak to my doctor. So even though the pharmacist had the signed prescription from my doctor (same day mind you), my cash payment, and all the other information necessary, she insisted that she speak with him. I'm not a shady character either, I'm a 37 year old businessman. Needless to say after more wasted time attempting to contact my doctor via my cell phone (because the pharmacist certainly wasn't going to nor did she offer) I finally got the nurse on the line. The nurse was as equally perplexed and dare I say irritated when I explained the situation. She immediately began calling the pharmacy from her other line while I was on hold. I literally sat and watched them blatantly neglect the incoming call at least 6 or 7 times. They were not busy, there was no line, and they're were 3-4 of them. Finally I spoke up and said, I think that's my doctor calling you, to which the response was "we're really busy right now and can't take calls". So after doing exactly as asked by them, this is how the situation is treated?!?! Very very poor customer service. Finally the call was eventually taken and I eavesdropped, despite the pharmacists continued argument about the insurance angle she ultimately gave in. I was then approached by her in such a cold manner when she delivered my prescription and took payment that it will definitely be the last time my family or I ever get our prescriptions filled at this location. In closing, I also tried to contact the store manager after I left to inform them of my unpleasant experience. Seems that's not possible and my call was directed to a major customer support center. I assume notes were perhaps taken during my complaint but my request to have that particular store pharmacist manager contact me never unfolded....and that was strike two. Out of respect I would encourage Walgreens to make an effort after receiving this message. read more
