I had an awesome experience with Matt and his team members. I live in California and the father of my child lives in Texas. The FOB had the nerves to file for custody in Texas when I have lived in California this whole time (and my daughter!). It's a pretty crazy situation, but Matt handled it!!! The MOST important thing was making sure the SOB paid for my attorney's fees since I was having to pay for the firm and sadly JUST got laid off the same week the SOB served me papers -in California. It was a bit nerve wracking looking for an attorney to deal with it over the phone because I was limited on time and there are a cadrillion lawyers in Houston, but luckily, I went to high school with someone who was now a family lawyer at a high priced firm. I had asked her about Matt and she highly recommended him. She told me he was aggressive so I went ahead and bit the bullet and hired Matt. Matt won our case... AND got sanctions (i.e. lawyer's fees of almost $4k). Yippeeeeee! I realized that I like boutique law firms. You get better service and you're not shuffled around. p.s. I had a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Everyone in the office was kind, patient and understanding. From the paralegal work to the actual hearing i felt like every aspect of my case was as important to them as it was to me. This was not the experience i had had with other attorneys and it was a pleasant new feeling. They truly went above and beyond for me and helped me get through this difficult situation with grace and dignity. I had a divorce and a legal name change handled by the firm and both were handled quickly and professionally with very little i had to do on my own and even the things i did need to handle myself (background check for name change), i was walked through what i needed to do and that helped ease my anxiety about the situation. Being estranged (abandoned really) at the time, my funds were very tight, but they worked with me on a fair price. We came up easily with something i could afford, there was no haggling with me and again, even though i was not in a great financial situation at the time, i was treated with dignity. Having dealt with other divorce attorneys for this case and in the past I was happy to find the Waldrop Law Firm. I think Matt and his staff were the best equipped to deal with my case. I would absolutely not recommend this law firm. My experience was excruciatingly painful. Matt often acted like a bully and was rude to me, other members of my family, and just about everyone he laid his eyes on. He thinks by pushing people around he will get his way and his staff goes along with his intimidation methods. Because he allegedly knows the judicial system and how it works, we felt we were basically at his mercy the entire time. His charges were completely blown out of proportion. When we questioned some charges on his bill, he immediately blew up and threatened to drop the case. Unfortunately for us, we had already spent so many thousands of dollars, it made no sense to find another lawyer and start over again. read more

This is an excellent law firm. Everyone is professional and nice. My case was kind of a difficult case, but Matt was always there at every turn.
