Mr. Waldron was hired to replace our manual generator transfer switch with our new automatic switch. All wiring had been previously run to the site. This is a relatively simplistic one-person operation. Yet, Mr. Waldron brought an assistant. He took 4 hours and 45 minutes to complete the task, taking a break for lunch during this time. In the end, he charged for 10 hours of labor, 5 for himself and 5 for his assistant, though this was a one-person job. After he left, we obtained an estimate for this job from an experienced licensed electrician, who estimated that the job was AT MOST, a four hour operation for a single person. When Mr. Waldron completed the job, we caught him loading up our old switch to take with him. We had purchased this switch just a few years ago at a cost of over $300. Needless to say, we did not let him take it. In the end, we feel that we were grossly overcharged for the job that was performed. We have requested a refund for some of the labor charge, but have not been contacted by Mr. Waldron. A final note; we had scheduled an appointment for Mr. Waldron to evaluate the job on the previous day, but he failed to make the appointment. Our big mistake was not asking for an estimate ahead of time, though he told us before starting that our power would be out for "a couple of hours". In the end, it was 4 hours and 45 minutes! Mr. Waldron may have some good employees, but we would not recommend his services. read more
