Ok ok, so I was brought here on a purposely touristy stop by my friend who lived in Germany (Weisbaden) at the time with her air force hubby. It's not the most traditional of the German foods that I sampled on my two and a half week journey in 2012, but it was one of my favorite experiences for sure. The portions are horrifically large. I'm American, ok. This was insane even for me. And as always, standard German beer glasses are ginormous. Awesome!!! Staff here were super friendly and welcoming. We had a fairly decent sized group of 10, including children, and they were very accommodating. Definitely worth a visit if you have visitors in the area. This was one of our first outings after COVID restrictions lifted and we could dine outside. The serving sizes are laughably large. We did order the burger which was quite a novelty and a great photo op, but as an actual burger it is not what you would expect if you are American. I ordered the shrimp salad which was appropriately sized and quite good. We also got an appetizer plate which my son really enjoyed. If you are starving, this is the place! The food portions are enormus and I end up taking half of the smallest size home. If you can't finish your meal the waitress will hand you a roll of aluminum foil so you can wrap up the leftovers. Adam Richman from Man Vs. Food needs to make a visit here. I lived in Hofheim for three years and this was hands down, my favorite restaurant in all of Deutschland. Gigantic portions of the best German cuisine. I have never had a bad meal at this place. Even though the "XXXXL" portions might seem kind of gimmicky, the food itself is actually outstanding and can stand on it's own. Waldgeist has the best Schnitzel and Rumpsteaks that I have had anywhere. You can also order 1/4 sized portions, if gorging yourself isnt your style. The Waldgeist also happily supplies all the tables with tin foil to take your leftovers home with you. Service is generally quick and every server that I've ever encountered there speaks both English and German. English menus are also available. free on-site parking is also available. Reservations (or at least calling ahead) is recommended. read more

If you come to Germany you HAVE to visit Waldgeist. It's more of a tourist thing than an actual dining thing. I highly recommend it if you have a large group of friends that are visiting (especially guys, nothing against the women but extremely large portions of meat bordering on gluttony for no reason whatsoever is more of a guy thing.) and just want to have fun one night. Make sure you get a reservation, they say you need one but both times I've been there we just walked in. Within your group one person has to order a 5X something, you should all have a DD or take a cab because I recommend the huge jug of Jack and Coke they offer or the giant boot of beer. And as the host you definitely must make the entire group try the Viper sauce. Have fun. read more

It's a fun place, but the quality of the food is not the best. They cannot offer huge portions and quality for those prices. I don#t want to know where that meat came from For some reason the service was split among the gender line: women were ignoring us, the men were nice and made up for it.
