I really like this place. They have the store separated out into two sections: wine in one section, and beer and liquor in the other. Both sections have a great selection. They have a great scotch selection, including several Lowland and Islay scotches. The wine section is also pretty good, as long as you're staying within popular varietals. They carry my favorite bargains, Chateau Ste Michelle, and Rodney Strong. I wish they would expand on some of the more unique stuff, though. Their selection of ice wine, mead, ports, sherries, and nihonshu (sake) has actually shrank over the years. They also used to carry demi-sec champagne, but I haven't seen that there for years. It's all brut now (read: boring). Bring back more nihonshu, muy dulce sherries, and demi-sec champagnes! read more

This is a convenient liquor store in the middle of Wakefield's commercial area near the CVS, Belmont Market, Starbucks and Shaw's. My mother-in-law likes to get wine at this store since they carry her favorite brand. The prices are very competitive and the selection is very good....beer, vodka, rum, brandy, red and white wine, microbrews, specialty beer from all over the world, etc. The people working here are super friendly. My experience turned out great once a nice and respectful employee helped me out. At arrival I asked what appeared to be a stock employee where i could find some imported beers. He seemed annoyed at my question and said they are in no special area and could be anywhere. I explained I was buying for someone else and needed help picking out an assortment of single IPA and imported beers but again he did not at all want to help. I made my way over to the singles and picked an assortment of six different beers. As a last ditch effort to make sure I picked out some good ones I asked another employee. Wow! glad i did, he looked over every beer and informed me they were all great choices with the exception of one which he very eagerly swapped out for me for a better beer. I left happy. I noticed the first stock person watching as the other helped me and he smiled at me as I left. Hopefully he realized his treatment of me and will be kinder next time. read more

The young woman that works here was beyond rude to my entire family. our first time going and it will be our last time.

Disrespectful staff, didn't know anything about local beers. Watched a pregnant woman walk in with her husband purchasing two expensive bottles of vodka, and asked if his wife could use the restroom and they turned her away. Young kids who were more worried about their social life then helping customers. Will not ever return to this place! read more

Very disappointing experience today and frankly infuriating. Parked in the back as there was a lot of traffic in the front of the store. One of their employees comes out of nowhere telling me to leave because its only employee parking. Said if I didn't move the "Manager would come out and be a lot ruder". Really this is how you treat your loyal customer? Normally I don't take offense but I was flabbergasted as to how rude an employee could be. Will not be shopping here again and will ensure my family doesn't either. To be clear I saw NO SIGN - are we supposed to magically guess? Am I a clairvoyant? I don't go into the wine section, so I can't review on that. Some days I am more of a beer gal ... Well, over the summer they had Coors Lights on sale like ridiculously low price, so I would go in rather often. They have a very good selection for your drinking needs, don't get me wrong... What needs work is the customer service, they people behind the counter taking your $ are pretentious jerks, they never say thank you. I have had 1 in particular look at me & roll his fat little eyes in his fat little head when I asked for a pack of smokes. Seriously dude...get over yourself! read more

If you're a beer connoisseur, then this is the place for you. You name it, they probably carry it. What makes this place great is the ability to mix and match various beers in a six pack. Sure, you're going to pay high retail for that privilege, but it's better than buying a whole six pack of something that might not be to your liking. The only downside to this liquor store, and what keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars, are the somewhat haughty, elitist staff members who sometimes make you feel like they are doing you a favor when you ask for help. At first, I thought I was imagining this feeling, but after my wife mentioned the same reaction, I realized that I wasn't dreaming. I LOVE this place! Seriously, the beer selection is about as good as it gets, especially in RI. They have an astounding selection of brews, from American micro-brews, to mind-boggling Belgian imports. You can mix-a-six, which includes a 10% (I think) discount. When I go here, I always come out with some intriguing new thing to try along with some old favs. They sell wine and spirits too, but for me it's all about the beer. Yeah, it might be a little more pricey than other places, but there is no place nearby that compares for selection. I am not one who reviews often but... Who makes someone sign a form before buying a bottle of wine? I am writing this review just to warn people about this policy. What really upset me is that he just asked me to sign my signature in a book without informing me what it was for. I signed the book thinking it was my receipt at first and once I noticed I asked calmly what it was for but he became very defensive. I have NEVER had to sign a form at any other liquor store. Apparently, it's so they are not held responsible if I give alcohol to someone who is under 21. He told me it's their policy if someone buys enough alcohol for more than one person. I would maybe understand this policy if I had bought a keg but one bottle of wine? I doubt you would have made my 60 year old father sign this form. This was targeted because I look young. But I mostly feel like this guy was in a bad mood and felt like being rude to someone who was in a good mood. I really don't get why they couldn't have been kind about explaining this policy. I am buying wine not trying to sign legal documents. You lost a customer and I will continue to tell people about my experience with your odd policy and rudeness. read more

Five stars for excellent selection. One star for consistently snotty service. I spend a lot of money in this store and am not treated very well for it. I buy cases- not expensive wine, but cases nonetheless- and I still get cold-shouldered almost every time I walk into this place. If you love craft beer this is the place to go. Wakefield Liquors has an entire wall dedicated to singles of every type of beer you can think of. Sometimes I will buy a "mix a six" pack, or even just buy 2 or 3 singles to try. They have a lot of beer options, sometimes it is a bit hard to find a specific beer because there's a lot to look at. The wine section is unbelievable too. I wouldn't consider myself a "wine connoisseur" in any way, but like a good red every once in a while. Wakefield liquors has all the wine laid out nicely and easy to find exactly what you want. I would say Wakefield Liquors has the best selection for beer and wine in the area. read more

Looking for a wine from Chile, the person working in the wine section was not helpful, acted like I was a fool for even wanting to this wine. Even when I explained that a friend had brought it back from Chile and it was a wine many like he still was rude. The Wakefield liquor store is my go-to liquor when I'm in this area. The liquor store in Narragansett closes early and ups the prices on many of their products. At Wakefield liquors, there is a massive selection of alcohol at good prices. They have a large selection of craft beer as well as domestics and party beer. They also have tons of spirits to choose from. They have beer tastings on certain days, too, which is a good experience if you're looking to buy a new beer that you've never tried before. All of the staff members are very friendly and seem to enjoy working with beer. They are all very knowledgeable of their products and can answer almost any question you throw their way. When I bought a case of Narragansett tallboys, they gave me a free Gansett tie! It was very nice of them. I'd say that this liquor store is worth the drive to find some quality alcohol at very reasonable prices. read more

This is by far the BEST liquor store around. They have a wide selection of wines, beer, hard liquor. The prices are very reasonable and they always have wine on sale. I haven't met a grumpy worker yet. Everyone is very nice and helpful. The other thing that I love about them is when they don't have a wine in stock, you can request them to stock it and they do!
