They have a great scotch selection, including several Lowland and Islay scotches. The wine section is also pretty good, as long as you're staying within popular varietals. They carry my favorite bargains, Chateau Ste Michelle, and Rodney Strong. I wish they would expand on some of the more unique stuff, though. Their selection of ice wine, mead, ports, sherries, and nihonshu (sake) has actually shrank over the years. They also used to carry demi-sec champagne, but I haven't seen that there for years. It's all brut now (read: boring). Bring back more nihonshu, muy dulce sherries, and demi-sec champagnes!

She was carded, as she should be, but then the two guys working there started messing with her. She was alone.. they said her license was a fake and they were going to keep it. She called the police who came and ascertained that it was not a fake. They did not apologize. ( The policeman did.) And THEN, they told her they wouldn't sell to her. That sounds illegal, , right? They were clearly bullying and harassing a young woman who was all alone. It embarrassed her, and she arrived at her grandparents in tears. Frightening! We are so glad she called the police.

Wine & Spirits is a relatively small place but has a decent selection of beer, wines and other alcoholic stuff. You won't find the more exotic booze you'll find at Grapes & Gourmet, just a good inventory of domestic and the usual foreign beers. The keep a huge supply and never run out. That keeps the drunks happy. They also have ice, sodas, lottery crap and a ATM. The store next door is a little video place and can be reached from the inside of Wine & Spirits so it might by owned by the same guy. The owner is friendly and always smiles and asks how things are going or how the weather is on the water. Nothing profound but it is nice. One of the great things about this place is that it is only about a mile from Fort Getty, a very popular camping place. So the people getting plastered while camping don't have to drive but can walk or ride a bike to get more booze to get even more plastered. Convenient for everyone.

We stopped in and were looking to purchase some local wine to bring back to our resort. Looking around at their extensive selections, we finally asked someone for help. We were brought to the back of the store and shown the local selections. Then we were given a history of the wine, the more popular selections, the local wineries (and brewery), etc. He went above and beyond to help us out. We were grateful and impressed by his customer service. We purchased wine from the local vineyards and were pleased with our selection. p.s. They also carry decent-priced Jamestown logo merchandise.
