The shop is well stocked and laid out with fresh counted for fish, meat, cheese and cakes. They have an excellent wine section with a specialist roaming around nearby :) As a regular I have come to know the people that work there so it makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The quick pay service and the free newspaper for myWaitrose members is an added bonus. I go shopping on my motorbike so it helps that I can pack my rucksack and saddle bags as I go rather than all at the end of my shop at the checkout. Enjoy :)

If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! Even the halva section appears to be never ending! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter. As Susan mentions, Abu Bakar is aimed at the Aisian community, but for anyone like me with boringly British culinary habits it is a fascinating and exciting place of endless possibilities and obscure and intriguing ingredients.

Many people are put off by the price, but you get what you pay for, and if you can afford it then it really is worth paying the extra. They price match Tesco on a wide range of items, and they also sell a selection of John Lewis home furnishing items. They do a reserve and collect service which is separate to the Ocado home delivery service - look at their website. This particular branch is nice, clean, spacious and friendly. It's well located just off the northern side of the outer ring road, just off the A46. It has a petrol station but it can be dearer than others in the area, and there is rarely any problem parking. If you haven't been, give it a try - especially in the evening when there are always fabulous bargains to be had on short-dated items.

It's pretty much a typical Tesco Extra in terms of the look/feel of the store, which still felt familiar to a first-time visitor to this store like myself, the opening hours between 6 am and midnight appear to be in line with other Tesco Extra's store, which unfortunately seemed to ditch 24-7 opening in the post-pandemic era. Handheld scanners are available at the front of the store, where you can scan and bag items as you shop before going to the checkout to finish up. I did have difficulty unlocking scanners and had to enter my Clubcard number on multiple occasions. I much prefer the Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer approach, of using their app on your phone to scan, rather than relying on an in-store scanner. I did find the selection of food and drink in the to-go fridge section to be quite poor, I couldn't find a standard 500 ml iced tea in the entire store, and in the end, I had to opt for a large 1.25 litre bottle. I did find it to be rather odd how the milk was divided up into two different sections, and I had to ask a staff member for help finding my preferred brand of milk, it's a big enough store and there's no reason they can't keep it all together. 3* - A nice supermarket sure, has some improvements to make, but no better or worse than the average Tesco.

Morrisons 'market place' is a unique set out for a supermarket and you can find fresh fruit and veg along side a fish monger and butchers where just like the advert shows you, the staff will be more than happy to talk you through whatever cut of meat you require or even fillet your fish for you. There is also a bakery and rotisserie offering yummy treats such as pork pies and sausage rolls as well as hot roast chickens. Another good point worth mentioning about Morrisons is that they do from time to time do brilliant offers. It's worth looking out for them on the internet or in your local paper.

This store is also on the same site as a large Homebase store and Frankie & Benny's restaurant!

The food in the cafe is ok but for weeks and weeks one of the coffee machines has been out of order the other coffee machine is painfully slow. There always seems to be a dire shortage of staff and the staff that are there look so stressed. Tables are often full of dirty pots. It's such a shame as it could be a great place. The customer toilets however are smelly and more often than not dirty. Sunday 27th ladies toilet no toilet roll, bits of paper all over the floor, end toilet seat covered in skid marks, wash basins dirty. there are sheets on the back of the door for toilet monitoring and at 11.30 the sheet had already been signed off for 11am, 12pm and 1pm which is really not good enough. Bearing in mind COVID is still around the toilets should be clean. Who ever had falsified this sheet needs to be reprimanded .
