Just randomly came here since I was in the area. Interesting little and small barber shop. The lady who cut my son's hair was sweet. Definitely a a cheap spot. Good spot if you're not picky with cutting your hair. The place smelt of incense and had some vegetables on the adjacent counter. There were also newspapers on the floor. It personally didn't bother me but it was just interesting lol. Three stars was for the price and for the sweet worker. I'm assuming she was the owner based on the other reviews. Husband and I go here all the time. Aunty is more on the old school side of cutting hair but love it! She's super sweet and always accommodating.. sometimes doesn't cut the top of his hair short enough but that's ok! For me she's the only one I'll go too. When switching and trying a different stylist for a couple cuts... my hair became more damaged and broken guess the technique they used is modern and fine for people who style their hair all the time.. but I prefer my natural hair. We went here and were so inconvenienced it's ridiculous. First off, this place is a mess with tools and magazines piled up everywhere. She did not do a good job on my husbands hair when he was just asking for a fade and trim on top. Then the worst part of this: we were surprised by finding out she takes cash only. There are no signs stating this and she doesn't say that until the end of the cut. So, I had to walk all the way to 7 eleven as that's the closest atm and walk all the way back to give her the cash. When I asked her why she doesn't have a sign, she got quiet and said she doesn't have a sign saying she does take card. I guess I expect to know before we get to payment. Most places have a sign but she does not and this was horribly inconvenient. Messy, bad hair cut, and she just wasn't very personable. Won't be going back and would not recommend. read more

My first visit and I entered the shop and asked if an appointment needed to be made. No social distance and no plastic shield in the shop. There were two stylists and I don't know ‍ who the owner was. Anyway, a customer and the stylist started to laugh at me. I fell hurt and left the shop going elsewhere to cut my hair. A sign should have been posted at the business if an appointment need to be made. With the Covid-19 and shops reopening I think this should be done. read more

I've been looking for a long time to be able to find a place that will cut my hair just the way I want it and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it. My friend used to do my hair since he's a barber but lately he's just been so occupied with fornite to do anything so here I am looking for a new barber. Lady who cut my hair I did not get her name but she was a Japanese short with glasses and black hair, she was really nice and she did a really good job. Prices are very fair was in and out very quickly too. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fast cheap haircut! read more

I'm writing this review for my husband who I somehow convinced to try out this barbershop. There wasn't any customer at the time so he didn't have to wait at all. He pointed at a picture of the haircut he wanted but the lady said no, pointed at a different picture and said "this is your hairstyle." He's not one to argue so he let her do her thing. She started snipping away. Haircut was done in 10 minutes. He was super surprised at how fast she was and was happy with the haircut. He said he's definitely coming back. :-) read more

2 stars cuz she seems nice. Driving around aiea looking and calling places who could take me in asap.i get to this place and walk in since it was my last option. Was told she's almost done with her customer so no biggie I wait. Maybe 10 min goes by and and she's done. I have 35 min left before I have to pick up my daughter. So anyways I'm walking to her chair and then she asks this other gentlemen if he was the one who called in. Of course he says yes. Then she looks at me and says sorry, I thought you mentioned that YOU called in. Um, no. You didn't say that. So anyways, i have to storm out of there cuz I can't wait for her to finish up that guy then cut my hair. So, whatever, shit happens but this was definitely not a good 1st experience for me which is why I'm only giving her 2 stars. Nice and clean place but asked for skin fade and barber kind of hard no idea. I wouldn't recommend if you want a military haircut. Had to correct barber several times on areas in where to fix. The haircut not worth the price they charge. read more

HORRIBLE. I MEAN HORRIBLE. friend and I walked into this place for a hair cut and I've came her once and had a good experience but this time is probably the worst hair cut of all century and to two of us. Nicest old ladies in the world but worst hair cut of all time I never ever would recommend. Friend and I bOTH went in for a skin medium fade and leave the top. My stylist. Cut me with her buzzer right over my right ear and burn marks all over from the buzzer and On top of that whatever I was growing out on top is now gone. My friend got more hair cut off his beard than his head which he asked not to. And there's no skin in the fade what so ever and my friend gets a rat bite right above his right ear where it is unfixable even with a high top fade. And then we get charged. Smh LET ME REPEAT AGAIN. HORRIBLE. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OOOOONNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEE FOR A HAIRCUT. Waimalu Barber Shop changed owners recently. The new owner is Sherry. She has one other hair stylist. The shop is kept nice and clean and haircuts are reasonably priced. Sherry is an experienced hair stylist so she knows what she's doing. She's also very nice and attentive to the kind of haircut that best fits the customer. read more
