I couldn't find a website appointment system or social media so I just went in crossing my fingers it wasn't that busy and luckily it wasn't at all and I was easily helped. My barber was super friendly and turns out we had mutual friends so it was a nice throwback to baby days at school. I'd easily say he was the best fade I got since I got into cleaning my mop in high school. Shit looks immaculate and he took his time after fine tuning it for my and my chia pet hair. Thanks guys for all the laughs you'll be seeing me again as long as I'm here!

I like it there because they have reserved parking spots for you. My issue with my health requires me to test my blood once or twice a month. One day I went to my favorite lab but there was no open space, so I decided to park on the side. Actually, you can park anywhere and they have reserved parking. I saw this hair salon for guys. Ace of Fades Hawaii. My son always wanted to try those salons, but I always took him to a barber shop. lol As he is getting older, the barber shop he goes to does a wonderful job, but you know when they are teenagers they like to try different places. I know I was like that when I was his age. But I never did go in -- until one day I went to my lab and my son was with me. I told him, "Let's check it out." After my lab appointment, we stopped at the hair shop. As we entered, they greeted us like we were their regular customers. I asked if I needed to make an appointment or if they accepted walk-ins. The guy I was talking to was Ken, and he said they accept both walk-ins and appointments. Their shop looks like a man cave. lol So Ken took my son, and they started talking. I wanted my son to express how he liked his haircut, so I just sat in my chair. While I was there, I noticed they had regular customers. I heard the stylists calling customers by name. That's so great because when they know you, they also know the texture of your hair, which means you'll always get a great haircut. My son showed Ken a picture of the haircut he wanted, and Ken cut it exactly like the picture. He was super happy with his haircut! I pointed out the difference in service between his barber shop and this place. He said he only showed Ken the picture one time and Ken duplicated the haircut perfectly. His barber shop is good, but they tend to do the same kinds of haircuts and have pictures with numbers that you choose from. That's how barber shops are -- but this shop goes for a more defined, personalized style. I asked my son where he wanted to get his haircut next. He wanted to come back to this shop and have Ken cut his hair again. While I was there, they had a lot of customers, so I didn't want to ask to take pictures of the shop because most people don't like to be in photos. That's why I went back another day to get the pictures. For those of you who live on the west side, come try the fade haircuts here. The stylists are very cool, they have a big TV just like a man cave, and they definitely know how to cut your hair exactly the way you want it. And I saw a champion belt.. I asked about the belt and they won the competition.

We spent time searching Yelp to narrow down our top choices, and 79 Barber Shop immediately caught our eye based on everything we were looking for. The first time we visited, we walked in without appointments for three of us. Even though they were busy, the wait wasn't that bad. We made sure to take note of their popularity, though, and used their online booking system for our next visit which was clear, smooth, and easy to use. The shop itself is super cute, modern, and spotlessly clean. They even have comfortable waiting areas both inside and outside so you can relax comfortably while you wait. They have very affordable prices, but the quality of the haircuts definitely doesn't reflect the price. The entire team, Vy, Nancy, and Sandy are all incredibly experienced and skilled. They truly listened to each of our specific requests and you can visibly see the level of detail and care they pour into every single cut. We are officially regulars now!

Rude, unwelcoming, and completely unprofessional. This was…read moreone of the most unpleasant barber experiences I've had. The barber was unfriendly, cold, and not the least bit welcoming. He made zero effort to connect or communicate clearly -- no consultation, no basic customer service, just a rushed and awkward experience. He spoke in technical haircut terms without explaining anything, as if every customer should already know. To make it worse, he didn't even offer the eyebrow service that's advertised on his own website. Nothing about the visit was enjoyable or professional. I won't be coming back and definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.Quality is important but customer service would make a returning business..by the way the haircut is just ok

Okay, weird, but whatever--do you have one? Nope! The owner directs me to the shop right next door to get one. I walk next door, and they are charging $1 per mask. At this point, I was on the verge of hysterical laughter. Requiring a mask in 2026 is hilarious enough on its own, but refusing to provide a 5-cent paper mask while sending customers on a paid errand next door is top-tier comedy. 1 star for the laugh, 0 stars for business logic. My cutter (her name being Chau Chau) worked at Supercuts Waikele. My brother who also goes there…read moretold me that the Waikele shop was going to close down at the end of February 2023. Told myself oh no, as I wondered where my cutter will go? to another Supercuts location, or worse go to another hair stylist shop and where??? My brother's cutter who also worked at the Waikele shop transitioned to another Supercuts but informed my brother as I asked him to ask where Chau Chau went to. She said to T's Hair Salon in Waipahu. I didn't know where this shop was so I looked at Yelp for the info. Great, I saw it was just to the right of Pacific Supermarket in the Waipahu Shopping Plaza. I called and spoke to Chau Chau and set up an appointment. Went there about 10 minutes before my appointment, and someone within the busy shop told me Chau Chau works at T's Barber Shop (under the same ownership as the hair salon/pedicure/manicure shop) and walked me out and pointed to the building where it was located in the same parking lot) --- building G, which if you are coming in from Farrington Highway, it would be the building at the Ewa end directly upon entering the large main parking lot. Ok, first time there and I see it is quite busy with about 6 cutters working at the 8 seat shop. There were only waiting room for three people due to the limited size of the barber shop. But right outside of the shop, there was a concrete bench to sit down if the wait area was full. The cutter whose work station is closest to the cash register assisted me and I told her I had an appointment with Chau Chau, who has barber's chair 2nd from the back end on the right side (4 seats on left side and 4 seats on right side). As I wait for my haircut, I see and hear the friendliness and comraderie amongst the cutters --- quite friendly and inviting compared to the sterile work conditions at Supercut where normally there is only 1 or at most 2 cutters working during the shift. There were two male cutters that did not appear to be from Hawaii but from out of the state, but their conversations with the other female cutters were kind and loving --- like everyone just 'jelled' working together ! Chau Chau finally cuts my hair and I find out more things about what happened at Supercuts and how she liked working there at T's Barber Shop. She mentioned that the lease for the Supercuts Waikele shop was going to expire at the end of February 2023, so the four cutters were set to transfer to either the Kunia or the Pearl City/Kuala St shops. Chau Chau however chose to work elsewhere and so ended up at the shop. Cuts for men starts at $20 and goes up. Sure, kinda objective as to how much the cut would cost, but being that I hadn't had a haircut in five months, she said the haircut was $25 (which was less than Supercuts). She tells me that she doesn't have to answer phone calls like while at Supercuts, as the phone calls are handled also by that cutter nearest the front register. We had a good time talking and when it was all over, I had my great haircut as usual, and before leaving she told me her work hours and schedule and also gave me her cell phone for which she then texted me her work hours. She works five days a week from 9am to 6pm and said that Sundays she can only accept walk-ins (not by appointments). I am so grateful that she moved to a shop that was near where I lived... roughly the same drive time to Waikele or to here in Waipahu ! You can add your tip while paying at the register by telling the cutter/cashier how much one wanted to tip that cutter... It will be listed on the receipt as a separate entry line 'TIP'...
