If I had to give no stars I would, but he cut my hair exceptionally and the way I wanted to, no problem. But this review is a fair warning to all you new customers. This barber is way too uptight when it comes to his policy of having people wait outside, and in their car.
So, my appointment was scheduled at 11:15. I arrive 10 minutes before my appointment and text "arrived" to the specific phone number, as directed on his scheduling page. I did not get any reply within the first 5 minutes of texting, so I text arrived again. And yet again, no reply and it's been already about 10-12 minutes. Mind you I did not drive to my appointment (as I do not drive) and my brother was nice enough to take some time out of his day off to give me a ride. So I tell my brother I will just wait outside of the shop already hoping he will know that I am here. By the time I get upstairs I can see through the door that there is still a customer being serviced. In my head I'm like "Ok, no big deal, I understand he may have been late or little behind, but the least this barber could do is text back to let the next client know he is still with his previous one," at least out of common courtesy. And also the fact that I showed up early 10 minutes before.
Anyways, after the previous client walks out, (and I am still waiting outside), I finally get a text at "11:38" to come on in, sanitize, and check my temperature. I walk in maybe two minutes later and notice he is still sweeping the floor and trying to prep everything. He tells me to sit on the chair. He then asks me if I was the person waiting outside of the shop. I then reply, "oh yeah I was, I didn't know if you got my text or not that's why." He then says, "Oh well next time, you're going to have to wait in your car, you can't wait outside, I don't have a waiting room." I didn't think he was upset or anything so I jokingly said and with a smile under my mask, "Oh, why, Do they not allow people to wait outside here?" He then replied with an extremely STERN and ARROGANT tone of voice, "NO THAT'S MY POLICY." I then went on to apologize to him sincerely, and he had NO RESPONSE whatsoever. He then resumed to put on the barber cape on me and there was a sense of tension because he was putting it around my neck very swiftly and forcefully. I was extremely uncomfortable for a good 20-30 minutes into my haircut with this barber and not one word was coming out from his mouth since I had apologized to him.
All in all, I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this Barber TapatCutz if you want a barber that's kind and professional with the way that he talks to his clientele. I get that it's your business, but I really don't see your rationale for having people not wait outside when it's a public area. And to put it into perspective, what if your clients don't drive like me and they catch Public transportation or ride a bicycle to your shop? Now where will you have them wait! I have never been so uncomfortable with a barber in my life until I got my haircut here. I will be going back to my previous barber. read more
