Price is very budget friendly for a really good looking mens haircut. Pretty sure it was cash only (didn't bother with taking out my normal card payment). My hair was even even/symmetrical all around. Person cutting my hair was very friendly and took her time. Lots of parking (but very tight) at the Pearl Kai Shopping center depending on what time you go. Located on the ewa end of the center. There seemed to be a steady stream of people getting their hair cut. The only thing I would do next time (especially if you don't go there often) is bring a picture(s) of what haircut you want. There was a difference of interpretation in short hair. For me, my hair was cut shorter than what I wanted (no fault of anyone, maybe mine because i suck at explaining). Now my hair is short enough that it sticks up easily when I want it down and now my forehead got exposed more turning it into a sixhead. My other hair stylist (separate place but no longer in business) was able to identify these things on day one. He did a great job with his haircut except he was a little rough around the neckline which made it really irritated after the cut. We decided to switch for our son since he has fine hair and prefers to keep his bangs longer in length. $22 for regular haircut. $21 for regular haircut with valid military ID from service members and spouses. Inquire with staff regarding questions. Our son got his Easter grooming with Thao. He went from having Beatles hairstyle to two inches clipper, some buzz in certain areas, with hair shears at the bangs. We observed his stylist along with a few others offer clean, precise and thorough cuts and styles based on various hair types. There are photos of various haircuts with styles posted throughout the shop if you're in need of inspiration. A week after his hair is growing back nicely. We love his haircut and style! I paid $21 after presenting a valid spouse military ID and gave a generous tip. Three ladies in the front and I started a conversation. His stylist stated she noticed my son prefers to have longer hair, thanked me for patience. I said, "Thank you for providing excellent haircut and style. I love it!" We cordially exchanged Happy Easter greetings. Unspoken language observed in the barbershop. This place only accepts cash or use their ATM in their shop. Just got a haircut from Phuong. She did a great job. Clippers on the side for a fade and scissors on top for a slight trim. Listened to what I said, was friendly and it was obvious she knew what's she was doing. If I lived here, this would be my go to spot. No bites from any of the clippers and each tool was high quality. $20 for regular adult haircut. They also do a buy 10 get 1 free promo. After a haircut gone wrong by someone else, I had to search for a barbershop that had good reviews and decent price. I came across this place and decided to take my son as a walk-in. We were greeted and Phuong was able to cut my son's hair. She made his hair look sooooo much better. The price for this place is very much affordable. $22 for a regular haircut and $21 for military. It is cash but there is an ATM inside. I haven't found anything this price and from a professional. The barbershop is very clean. I was long overdue for a haircut and this barbershop was recommended to me. I came in a little after 8am on President's Day and was pleasantly pleased to see that there wasn't a line for haircut. I was promptly greeted by a barber as she was cutting someone's hair. I took a seat and was directed to sit in the barber's chair within 5-minutes of arriving. My Barber, Thao was warm, polite, friendly and not excessively chatty with me. Thao asked me how I wanted my haircut and I proceeded to rattle off my desired cut. My last haircut was in DEC 2022, so as you can imagine my hair was plenty long and thick; the hair gel that plastered my hair in place wasn't expediting the haircut either. In no time Thao had my hair trimmed to the desired length and she even straight edged the back of my head; fantastic work! I usually take my son, who is three years old, to a special salon that specializes in smaller kids. This time, his hair was getting out of control and I did not want to drive all the way to Kapolei just for a haircut. I tried A&A Barbershop which is right down the road from us. We went on a Monday after school around 3pmish. There was lots of parking available in Pearl Kai Shopping Center at this time. We were the only ones there when we entered. Phong was very nice even though she barely spoke English. She was patient and kind to my son and did a great job. You can tell she takes pride in her work making sure the haircut was right. She asked how I wanted my son's hair cut and it seemed she did not totally understand but she had lots of pictures on the wall and I pointed to the one I wanted and she delivered. I found this place by accident two years ago and I've been coming here ever since. It's a small barber shop. Most days, there are three banners. Phong, Kim, and Thao. My go to guy is Kim but I've had my hair cut by all three. For the price, the usually short wait, and the friendly staff, you can't beat this barbershop. What an awesome place! I was in desperate need of a haircut, out near Pearl Harbor and Yelp to the rescue! A&A Barbershop is in the way-back of a large strip mall, so I'd highly recommend you Google Map it. When you walk in, it looks like a traditional "old school" . They have 3 chairs (and 1 for shampoos) and some eclectic chairs to sit on while you wait. I've gone back a bunch for haircuts, at all different times and never had to wait more than 20-25 minutes tops. Most days it is 5 minutes. All 3 of the barbers do an amazing job at men's and kid's cuts. They even have a smock that has a clear window so the youngsters can play on their phone while getting a cut...GENIUS!! I have been going here every two weeks the past 10 months and haven't checked in or did my review until now. No reason just forgetful at times and wasn't much of a Yelper at the time. But let me tell you my experience now. Since arriving to the islands from Japan, I had a hard time finding the right barber to cut my hair without it being uneven, too short or not enough. I think I must have tried about 6-8 different barbers in various locations to find the one that comes close to what I am looking for. I guess It doesn't help that I have been spoiled in Japan to have an awesome barber who also makes house calls. So, one day last year in May I was driving around the Aiea area and happened to be in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center looking for food (go figure) when I saw the sign that said A&A Barbershop. I walked in and two ladies were cutting hair while about 3 other patrons waited. When my number was called, the elderly lady who I assume is the owner, directed me to the young lady who would cut my hair. Now mind you, I have been watching the both of them cut hair while I was waiting and all the patrons haircuts they completed looked good and was what I wanted. Ok so back to the young lady who would eventually be my barber. Her name is Vi and when she sat me down asked how I wanted my hair cut, she replied, "no problem." She used various blades and clippers and even scissors to cut my hair, which I know only experienced barbers do. So after about 15-20 minutes of cutting and clipping, she applied some shaving gel and to my surprise she whipped out a straight edge and cleaned me up. Once completed, she took a mirror to show me the back of my head and I acknowledged that it was great. I thought I was done, but now my new found barber Vi, asked if I wanted to have my hair washed and massaged. "WHAT?!?! HELL YEAH I do!!!" So, I had to move to another chair with a sink. I was prepped and soon my hair was lathered with shampoo and the massaging began. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep. She woke me up, towel dried my hair and asked if I wanted gel. I said yes just a small amount and she style combed it. I took my son here when he arrived from Japan and for him that was a terrible experience because he felt it was too short for him. After receiving many compliments from his friends and co-workers he decided to go again and has been a regular since. SMH. Teenagers! The haircut and wash cost me a total of $15. They offer military discount of $1. They have several other barbers there, but Vi and Phuong (owner) are the best. So, if you are looking for the right cut, give A&A Barbershop a try. read more

Guys, this is the best-kept secret in Aiea (until now, I guess :). This barbershop is located in the Pearl Kai shopping center across from the old Tower Records. What can I say, Phuong (barber) is the BEST--she was very sweet and friendly, but more importantly, she knows how to cut hair! She even uses a straight razor to finish up the sides and the back line. When my hair cut was finished, I asked her how much it would cost to trim my goatee and she replied in the sweetest voice, "No charge!". Amazing. Then just when I thought I was done, she asked if I wanted my hair washed--I asked and again she replied, "No charge!" Seriously, I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed getting my hair cut. And best of all, I didn't have to go home and fix any uneven parts of my hair with my crappy buzzer. Every 3 weeks I make the pilgrimage to A&A to get my hair did at the most consistent and reasonably priced barbershop I've ever been to. I go here for fades and have found that this place offers not just the most consistent cut, but they even go the extra mile in customer service and offer all their customers the option of getting there hair washed at the end of their cut, all for $12! I say again, twelve dollahz! The two barbers Phuong and Vicki are usually in the shop and always greet you with a smile and "hello! Long time no see" haha I guess 3 weeks is some time. The shop is AC'd and comes with a TV, which is usually on some sports channel. They know their audience. Until this place shuts down (which will be a sad day haha) I don't see any reason why I'd stop coming to my fave barbershop in Hawaii. read more

Ms Thao is my go to barber and she is very sweet and always asking how my day is. She even asks if I have plans to go to the beach later or how work is going. When she isn't there, her aunt, Ms Phuong is the one who cuts my hair. She is just as GREAT!!! I thought Thao was her sister when she's actually her niece! Haha!!! I was looking for a quick cut before I started work today and I found this place through yelp and saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try. Walked in at 10 and only one person getting their hair cut so the wait was fairly short. Once I hopped on the chair, Phoung (owner) asked me what kind of cut I wanted, referred to a picture, and reconfirmed with me (this happens rarely nowadays). She began cutting and we ended up talking story about her oofos clog shoes (super comfortable and perfect for her line of work). Got to talking about work and life and I was surprised she liked to talk, some other barbers out there don't even bother. I watched as she cut my hair and she has finesse! 15+ years of cutting hair and she's got the skill to cut clean and accurate in a timely manner. This is probably one of the best cuts I've gotten in the past year. I went for a fade all around and thinned out the top, shampoo, and gel all within 25 minutes! I am back, this time with my boys. They for sure are over due for a hair cut and I'm here for my 3 week routine. Here's a side note since I usually cut my hair after work. We decided to come on a Sunday when they first open, but found out they open at 8am not 8:30am. I been cutting my hair with my here for 3 years now, but never left a Yelp review. So this is over due. THIS THE BEST PLACE TO CUT YOUR HAIR! I tried other place, but Phuong always seem to get my hair on point just the way I like it. And the price can't be beat for the service. I always give $20. even though the price is only $14......Even back when it was only $12. I would highly recommend this place and Phuong is the best there, but Vi is also great. They make you feel comfortable and always give you the greeting of the day and they make you feel welcome. A&A Barbershop did an excellent job on my hair especially when I needed to get a haircut done last minute. The place is located right next to Pearlridge, and has lots of parking stalls. Process was easy; just sit down and wait for your name to be called and tell them what type of haircut you want. None of them asked me to do more services, just quick and straight to the point. I was really satisfied with my hair and they did a razor blade trim towards the end with shaving cream. Whole haircut took 45 minutes. I will be coming back not only because they gave me what I wanted, but because the process was easy and there was nothing that crossed my mind in terms of second guessing them. We're here...every Sunday. My husband who needs a weekly haircut religiously comes to this place & I along with him. There is almost always a wait, but definitely worth it. There are two veteran ladies who do an amazing job & definitely worth the wait & we do. When you Walk in the door, you're always greeted with a "hello, how are you?" My husband is very picky with his hair & it's hard to find someone who can do a proper fade like these ladies can. Men, this is a Perfect place if you wanna skip the fancy pellagrino's & scissors for a quick, cheap & quality. An extra shampoo after the haircut is an additional dollar & my husband sometimes leaves a bit soaked due to rushing, possibly trying to accommodate other customers waiting. Again, like I said it's an in & out type of place. Only downside is they take only cash & the store next door doesn't open til 10 am (they open at 9) make sure you have some cash prepared! read more
