We played the Beach and Lakes course. Great service, free range balls. Lots of water play. Wonderful beach views. No gps on carts, course conditions very good. Not crowded. Easy access if staying at waikoloa beach resort. We were able to walk on and get a tee time easily too. They do rent clubs if needed. read more

Took my son out for an amazing round of golf on the Waikoloa Beach Course. We did the discount Sunset tee time on a Monday. My 14 year old son was able to play for the junior rate which was $15 cheaper than the sunset rate. The course was in good condition and had several beautiful holes. We had a blast and were able to finish a full 18 in a little over 3 hours. Lucked out as there weren't many people on the course that late and those that were played fast. The clubs that we rented were nice King Cobras in good condition. The staff was very helpful. In fact the guy who gave us our clubs and cart even took the time to drive us to where the Beach course started as it was our first time on that course. read more

This was a great place for a quick 9 of golf. The beach nine was beautiful. Probably the best option out of all the nines, but I am sure the others are fun to play too. There is one hole on the beach that is spectacular, the rest are cool lava rock obstacles and landscapes. Totally worth it if you are thinking about it. The course layout is nice. Very challenging and good set up. However what course doesnt have a 9 hole turn in addition to not having a beverage cart. This is how people die.. or don't get their share of alcohol. But, when it's hot and there are no resources... that is not s good round of golf. Not worth the money unless you sneak all your own beverages and go early to beat the heat. read more

It is a shame that this once fabulous golf course has been run into the ground. The course itself is in poor shape but was is far worse is the attitude of the staff. With the exception of Randal in the pro shop it seems like the rest of the staff goes out of their way to be mean spirited and hurtful to the visitors. I played the Beach Course twice during my stay in late June. Very nice course with some tough holes. One very scenic hole that runs out to the ocean but we had problems with people walking the hole (for the views) from neighboring condos and had to yell at them to get off of the green. We almost tagged one of them with a golf ball because they were just dumb. If the wind picks up like it did when I was there, it can play really tough. I stayed at the Hilton property and played for $72 and booked it through my concierge. We had the first tee time both days at 7:05am but be warned, the clubhouse doesn't open until 6:30am and the restaurant doesn't open til 8am so eat before you come!! I brought my clubs but my son had to rent a set ($39) They were older Nike clubs but in decent shape. Cheapest balls in the clubhouse were $39/dozen Callaway's that are $19/dozen stateside. Driving range balls are included in the green fees. I suggest packing a small cooler because beer is $36 for a 6 pack from the cart girl. I packed a cooler the 2nd day and they didn't seem to mind. Also, after the 9th hole, you go straight to the 10th hole, it doesn't come back to the clubhouse until after the 18th. Very good service, very nice people and the starter really keeps things organized and moving. read more

Update: played Kong's Course today. The front desk's Steven was very nice and welcoming and a very different personality than the gentleman I dealt with last time. All else was same. Although a cart person showed up at the back nine. But Steven's demean or helped make up for the lackluster welcome I experienced the first day. I just called from California to make reservations for four for Monday, 6/25. The man, (I can't say gentlemen!) I spoke to was very rude, abrupt and didn't want to be on the phone. I explained to him that I had called a half hour early (and spoke with a very nice gentlemen!) and their computer froze and I was told to call back. When I called back to the exact same number I had called prior the very RUDE man answered. Not only was he rude he mumbled and I had to repeatedly ask him to repeat what he was saying, which only made him ruder. I would think that if you are a vacationeer and traveling far, which is most likely the majority of their clients they would have a better phone presents. I and others deserve better service. I will speak of this issue when we show up to golf!!! read more

I played on this course as part of a wedding party, on the morning of the wedding. It was truly amazing...and the wedding was great, too :) I haven't played Pebble Beach, or Bethpage, but I can't imagine them being much better than this. Wow. It was kinda pricey...but not enough to make you late on a rent payment. I think we played 18 for $75, which included the cart. The course was just beautiful...though you would expect that in Hawaii. The fairways and greens were spotless. The rough was mostly volanic rock, which added to the splendor. Even the sand was nice...I wasn't quite as bitter hitting from hawaiin sand as I am back at home, lol. Though, again, it's what you would expect in Hawaii. The best things here were the little things that you wouldn't necessarily expect. They supply you with an ice chest filled with bottled waters, give you resort tees to use, give you free range time before you play, and when you return the cart, they come down and bring you cool towels to wipe down with! Ahh, it was amazing. I'd give the Big Island, itself, 3.5 stars, but this course def. deserves a perfect 5 star rating. read more

Enjoyed playing the course from the tips. Not a difficult track, wind can have an impact on your score.....highly suggest playing the course in the morning before winds come into play. Upon arrival at the front desk, I was appalled by the unprofessional, discourteous staff at the front counter and disrespectful gentleman that waited on me. Unbelievable service is an understatement to say the least. I left a phone message for Kevin, the Director, about the negative service that I received, but have yet to receive a call back after two days. Just giving you a heads up that the staff, including the cart barn employee, are disrespectful of you, the paying customer. My first and last time playing this course until someone trains the staff at this course to conduct themselves in a respectful and professional, service oriented manner of the paying public. read more

I give Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Golf Course a 5 star rating because of their Family Golf Days making it fun and affordable for the whole family to play golf while in Hawaii. They just made their successful summertime family days available year round. Even right now as the busy visitor season gets under way. The Family Golf Day at the Kings' Course is after 3:30pm everyday. It's 9 holes so just enough golf for parents or keiki. It's $25 for the junior and $50 for the accompanying adult. You don't have to bring clubs to Hawaii with you ... the keiki get complimentary Nike Junior rental clubs and for the accompanying adult $25 for good rental clubs. Hitting balls at the range before you head out is part of the deal. I practice often at Waikoloa Beach Resort King's in late afternoon or evening. I was a junior golfer and I recognize the fun keiki or junior golfers of all levels have playing golf with mom and dad. After a day at the beach or other activities, 9 holes at the end of the day is perfect. I see the families as they are finishing their golf together and you can tell they have had fun. And of course keiki getting to ride in the golf cart with their mom or dad is a real highlight. On a side note, I often see a parent and keiki on the complimentary chipping green like I did last night. The enthusiasm the young kieki ... Ty was his name ... had for being with his dad who was having just as much fun nudged me to write this review for those of you who may be coming to the Big Island - so you might plan on enjoying Waikoloa Beach Resort family 9 hole play as one of your activities. Played on 8/4/2013. Used golf Hawaii card ($60) to get a two round discount of about $90 each round (king & beach course). Price is reasonable for the area but poor for the value. Course is not interesting, much like a flat muni course. The worse part is the condition also like a muni. The green is very slow. There is not much view either but to be fair, it's better then a muni. There are two staffs in the pro shop. A young lady is nice friendly and the older man looks like just got up from the wrong side of bed. Golf cart looks like 50 year old. Yes you get free ice chest with 4 bottle water but it's standard for the area. One bright side the starter is nice. Over all, I will not return. read more

Nice course. Employees suck. They told us when we called to book a tee time that they close at six. In fact they tried to talk us out of playing. After we convinced these fools that we know it's 430 in the evening and we don't care we just want to play eight or nine holes or less they finally let us come out. When we got there they told us we had to be done by six. Got it! No golf towels because their washer is broken. Nobody bringing beer or wine or drinks or anything out to the course so when we drove back to the clubhouse at 5 and it was closed. The Hawaiian full behind the counter said they stop selling alcohol when it's this late. ITS 5 o'clock?!?!? In other words they don't sell you beer on the course and even though the 19th hole is supposed to close at six they were closed at five. When we went into the pro shop to ask can we buy some wine or beer anywhere, again these assholes told us we had to be done by six. Got it!!! Bottom line we paid $250 to hear three fools tell us they close at six and oh by the way if you want beer sorry life's rough. Shitty people great course! Oh, and by the way they close at 6!! If it could be no stars, it would be. As a resident of Hawaii with a state issued ID, I was informed that I can not play golf here at the locals rates. They only recognize Hawaii drivers licenses. Well I don't drive so I am being penalized by not getting the better rate. So guess what I won't play here nor will i bring my guests visiting, to this course. So you can kiss my ass! read more
