This is a great spot to meet people before dining or a whale watch departure…read more So much history here dating back to sailing ships. They are reworking the benches two at a time. Making them very nice. It's incredible to think this is one tree.

Gorgeous park next to the courthouse in downtown Lahaina off the wharf. Absolutely a must-see if…read moreyou're wandering through the tourist shops or grabbing a bite to eat in the area. We were wandering the walk along the wharf & eventually came to this large park area under the canopy of Banyon trees with their incredibly unique, winding formations. The sun peeks through the canopies during daylight hours making it quite a "magical" experience with random sun bursts as you make your way around. There are plenty of benches set up to sit down & enjoy the relaxing scenery. In the evening hours, there are specifically placed lights that illuminate the intricate trees so day or night it's just incredible to walk through. Along with the beautiful trees, there are also an abundance of chickens & roosters milling around! That was quite entertaining for my little nephew who wanted to follow the young rooster with it's colorful feathers & fun clucking- perusing for crumbs/snacks the tourists drop. So many great photo ops here- but please do keep in mind to be respectful of other tourists who would like photos- I did notice some wanted to ignore the "NO Climbing" & other signage. We do need to remember to respect nature, not trash it & also allow others to get their photos WITHOUT you front & center hogging the tree... but, that's just my suggestion as we found it difficult to get photos without another camping for the "perfect selfie". Law enforcement is in the area frequently due to homeless population- you do need to be aware of your surroundings. But overall this is a beautiful place you don't want to miss if you are in Lanhaina & walking along the wharf downtown. The tree formations here are incredible & something you won't see anywhere else. The courthouse aside is also interesting to walk through- the vicinity has quite a historic feel. But this is a great place to stop, sit & relax with the most beautiful scenery- probably better during the weekdays as it was rather crowded on weekend afternoons.
