Public art in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. We came upon this tall structure and were amazed by its grandeur. "Wayfinding" by Linda Fleming is an art installation at Victoria Ward Park. It was unveiled in July 2024. We were walking along the Ala Moana Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge when this structure came into view. It depicts movement of the ocean and the sky. It's the first of four planned art pieces in the park.

Victoria Ward Park to be precise and as a great suggestion to go outside and explore it started at Choy's Monster then worked our way to Ala Moana Boulevard Bridge which took us over Ala Moana Boulevard to Victoria Ward Park one that most of us driven past as it got shifted across the street due to a condominium built at its former location though the size is much smaller I do feel like they tried to make it friendly and aesthetically pleasing by adding features like this art that we see from many angles as it towers impressively high to see is Wayfinding. Another definition of wayfinding is like navigating and as this work of art looks like either the wind and waves or a combination of it visually it certainly is stunning though as I looked at it closely I see many birds using it as a landing spot navigating itself to rest which in results of poop on it already which isn't very pleasing considering it's fairly new. Probably quite costly and to make and to maintain and keeping it clean will cost much more though absolutely beautiful just wished it was planned better.

In a very organized fashion, I received the invitation and quickly RSVPed to lock this into my calendar. For a reasonable set price, we enjoyed a fresh sashimi salad, udon, and a choice of poke bowl or Nigiri. I really appreciated the gently event reminders from Terry K. because it gave me time to assemble goodie bags for 20 guests. Thank you Li Y. for picking me up and so glad we were able to find parking. The food was delicious and the service was stellar. I really enjoyed the crisp salad with fresh sashimi on top! The yuzu salmon poke bowl was incredibly delicious over seasoned rice. The udon was perfect finish our pre fixed meal. This was an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends, including our former CM Emi :) Thank you to everyone who brought goodies to share too. Mahalo again Terry! Local Ghibli art…read more.. One thing I love about SALT in Kaka'ako are the murals and you can't miss them that are large as the whole side of the buildings but there is one that draws a lot of attention and it's really not that big at all. Pineapple Totoro and Catbus Mural which is located right on Coral Street between Highway Inn and The Boiling Crab "Da CatBus is painted in the local transit colors while Totoro is full dressed as a Pineapple is so fun and creative that tourists are always found taking pictures of and with the mural as we all love how it combines the cultures in a fun and playful way that is only found right here in Kaka'ako. Along with Kako plants and the stunning blue skies in the background artist @7sketches is a fun and playful piece that makes everyone smile and shine the local love we have here with artists to share with us all. Awesome Yelp Elite event! Thank you, StaceiLei, Yelp Hawaii, and Sky Waikiki :)…read more Tacos, margaritas, and a gorgeous view- I'm there! At check-in, we were given a Yelp Tamagotchi and tokens to redeem drinks plus food. We were given a tour of the hidden bar, which offers Omasake for $130 a person. It's by reservation only. During the event, the manager Manny shared several deals that they had going on. The Happy Hour deals were pretty good, especially for Waikiki. Pupu's and drinks priced under $15. What really caught my attention was the steak deal. It was too good to miss, so we walked over to the other side and ordered the Porterhouse steak. It was one of the best impromptu date nights we had in Waikiki! Live music, my teenage sweetheart, beautiful views, and a perfect steak. What more could I ask for? I was so happy to hang out with Yelp friends and meet new ones. The staff at the event were friendly. Thank you, Sky Waikiki, Sara, Manny, Yelp Honolulu, and CM StacieLi for such a great event.

I've been to SKY Waikiki several…read moretimes for happy hour on their balcony which I've always enjoyed but it was nice to get a different experience in a different part of their venue in the back bar/club area. The space is very spacious and gave us plenty of room to mingle and roam around. Started off the evening by getting checked in and picking out an adorable yelp tamagotchi pet - such a cute idea and kind gesture from Yelp! Through the evening we enjoyed refreshing margaritas from the bar and delicious birria tacos from La Birria. SKY partners with La Birria for late night tacos which is such a cool way to support local businesses together. The Management team also shared details about their seafood (p.s. if you haven't tried their oysters it's a must!) which is imported from Japan and their steaks that have the best value on island. Additionally, I learned they just started an omakase that also had a really great value - $120 for 15 courses - Wow! The omakase is held in their back speakeasy area which we got to view, the space is intimate and well designed. Overall had a fun night socializing, enjoying the venue, and swooning over the amazing views during sunset.

Titled "Earth Day Hawaii" this is a a sight that I can never resist to glance at every time I pass it which really isn't as frequent since you need to head into Waikiki on Kalakaua Ave driving past the Hawaii Convention Center and you'll see it on your left which is painted on the side of a condominium. Wyland Whaling Wall #67 apparently is what it is I just recently learned this and whenever I grab something from the 7-Eleven which is right beside it I do take a quick glance before I carry on my way to start my day and like how we appreciate seeing nature's beautiful rainbow which oddly I thought this mural had as well this artist rendition of nature is certainly greatly appreciated for all of us to enjoy. This is a nice little community in the Waikele area. It's close to Waikele Outlet Mall and easy to…read moreget to off the freeway. When you enter, you'll notice that there is a recreation center on the right. There are guest stalls located right in front of the recreation center along with some guest stalls in the sectioned off parking areas. The only downside of the parking is that it's not garaged parking and there is no shade. Your car will get HOT! For the amount of residents here, I feel that there is a lack of guest stalls. I came here for a party and many of the guests had to double park or park down the street. Still, it's a nice place to host a party and the breeze really helped with the weather. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to come here.

To…read moreour 44th President of the United States and who haven't passed this mural located on busy Ward Ave just a block away from Kapiolani Blvd. Though sadly not quite sure the situation of the building it's painted on as it looks closed it would be a shame to lose another beautiful work of art to development that's been going around the Kaka'ako area. Born and raised right here in Honolulu is something that I'm still in awe and though how fitting it was as I drove past it today August 4th to our 44th President just after 4pm. Thank you!

This show is one of many shows that occur in Hawaii throughout the year…read more Unlike the "all breed" shows, the Siberian Husky Club of Hawaii Specialty Show is a specialty show just for Siberian Huskies. This "conformation show" show is open to all intact, American Kennel Club (AKC) registered Siberian Huskies. The show occurs once per year in the fall (usually on a Sunday afternoon in October) at Thomas Square Park. This can be a good afternoon diversion to stop and watch a conformation show. More information on dog show schedules can be found at InfoDog.com if you are looking for show dates. Dog shows can be a bit confusing, so don't be afraid to ask someone nearby what is going on. Just don't bother someone that is busy grooming their dog or getting ready to take their dog in the ring. One thing that some people expect is tricks and obedience. Conformation shows are not about tricks or dogs running obstacle courses (that is obedience and rally shows.) Confirmation is the process of the judge evaluating which dog best represents their breed's standards. The shows are nice since they are usually in the shade and the people (handles, breeders, and dog owners) are all nice and happy to answer questions. Parking in this neighborhood can be a bit tough, but you can often park at the Blaisdell for free if there are no events going on.
