Breakfast spot is right on, small town feeling and great service. We started with two really large cinnamon rolls that were finger licking good. Chicken fried steak with gravy was very delish. We will be back to enjoy this cafe.

If you are in Alturas and want a good breakfast for a good price then the Wagon Wheel Cafe is your place. Fast service, bottomless coffee, good choices from $5 to $10. They even have cute coffee mugs that they will sell you for five dollars.

We were in town for our daughter's volleyball tournament and ate here for brunch. Service was prompt and friendly, food was good! Glad we came here!

Good food, good service, welcoming atmosphere, and homey decor. If you're traveling through, this is the place to stop! My Denver omelette was hearty and this cinnamon roll yummy!

Had breakfast with family here. Use to come here years ago with my Dad. Walking in here is like going back in time. Old, needs a little TLC but, the staff is friendly, the food was good, cooked perfectly, not greasy, great prices. Nothing on the breakfast menu was more than $10. All the locals eat her so you know it's good. They even sell greeting cards and postcards by the counter.

Used to go regularly when I lived in Alturas. Have been back twice in the last couple months and it has not disappointed! Excellent food, huge servings and super friendly staff. My daughter ordered fish and chips, expecting three small pieces like all other restaurants. She got three pieces that were the size of an entire fish. She normally doesn't eat a lot so she figured there would be lots leftover - she finished almost two full pieces because it was so good. My club sandwich was huge. I couldn't fit my mouth around the whole thing, even after squishing it. I had to eat it in small sections. Plenty of meat - definitely didn't skimp! The salad was fresh and very tasty. Waitresses were super friendly. Extremely busy, but still friendly. The number of people (regulars) that continued to come in the entire time we were there shows that business is great, and that's due to an excellent staff and delicious food!

    Great classic menu!

I really like this place. A typical small town place where the locals come for breakfast, coffee and conversation. The usual waitress does an amazing job and insures your coffee is full and does it with a great attitude. I usually have the Bacon, Eggs, Hashbrowns and English Muffin and everytime it is cooked to perfection and served promptly. If in the area and needing a breakfast fix (I would imagine their lunches are good as well), stop in and sit a spell!

Good place to eat for a place in the middle of nowhere. Waitress was nice also. Their biscuits and gravy are off the chain.

We went on a pretty busy day…read more However, the place had cleared out a lot while we were there. My omelette had egg shells in it,,too much sour cream which was just not ok, and the eggs hadn't been whisked (much?). The hills and whites were obviously not blended. Next, it wasn't very tasty. Smelled like seafood-- which wasn't in it. The mushrooms were old. Being a chef myself, I recognize old mushrooms, when they've been cooked... these probably should've been tossed. Hubby had the chicken fried steak. It was burned and slathered in gravy. Tbh, it was just ok. My ham steak and omelette were served 12 minutes apart. My husband's food was delivered 12 minutes before mine, with my ham steak. Bizarre timing from the kitchen. The ham steak was ok. But not from a bone in ham, as they described. Overall, meh. Lovely service. Nice girl. She kept apologizing, but really just needed more help with a focus on food quality. Took 25 minutes with a mostly empty restaurant to deliver our bill. But here's the kicker. No debit or credit cards. CASH ONLY establishment. Hmmm....

Stopped at this place for some grubbin before heading back to Susanville. Asked what was good from…read morethe waitress and she stated the burgers and explained you can make your own... so that's what I did I said I'd take one with everything. She explained that there was an auction of cattle going on next door and that normally it's next weekend but due to the holiday they were having it today so that is why the place smelt of cattle... I just thought we were getting some really really fresh meat... lol Pattie's we're not frozen or pre formed, they were hand formed and were dripping In deliciousness. Inside the lil place was homey, people seemed to all be very friendly and everyone seemed to know one another. Great place and fast service.
