Sandra checked us in and made us feel welcome and ready to start our trip. Cody is engaging and friendly as he drove us from the end point back to the drop off. They explained the river and gave us a map. There's a few sand bars and tiny islands along the route to stop and have a rest, lunch and lounge. The Mississippi River is wide and calm. As adventurous kayakers, we enjoy a few rapids here and there, which this journey didn't have any. But for those who like a relaxing time on the water, this is the way to go!

STAR #1: The've posted a ton of information throughout about the park and its rich history. I really enjoyed learning about its significance to the indigenous peoples and trappers that settled in the area. STAR #2: Tons of grassy space for picnics, frisbee, and more! So go ahead and stay awhile! STAR #3: There's a small play area nestled back from the shoreline - so be sure to bring the littles! STAR #4: With docks and boat ramps aplenty, Peninsula Point Park seems to be a place fishermen flock too. STAR #5: There's abundant parking, though I'm sure it fills up fast on the weekends! Peninsula Point Park was definitely a hit and made for an excellent place to stop and catch some rays. I'll gladly make my way back next time I'm in Minnesota.

We were looking to get live bait & ended up getting a scoop of minnow. When we got to the lake we noticed that we were given quite a bit of dead minnows. Also the person ahead of us complained a bit about the price of his bait, not sure what he got, the cashier handled it well pointing out the posted prices. I don't fish often so I'm not sure what fair prices are for anything. Besides the quality of our bait I'd say this is a decent bait shop.
