This was my first experience with Bella Cane. I will not go back. The outside of the building was…read moreunkept. That should have been my first red flag. Inside the door was a dirty floor mat. To the left of the door there were two crates, one on top of the other. I was told to take everything off my dog (an 11 year old Shitzu/Lasa Apso mix) and put him in a crate. Both crates had towels in them with visible clumps of dog hair and the bottom crate had urine in it.) The owner of the business was finishing up clipping a small dog and ignored me when I said my dog was terrified of crates and had severe separation anxiety. She basically said he would be fine. I should have taken my dog and left right then but he was way overdue for a trim. We had kept him away from other dogs because our other dog had cancer and we did not want to risk him bringing any illness home to her. (He is vaccinated but our other dog's vaccines could not be continued due to her illness. She had to be euthanized two weeks ago). I was texted to pick him up a little over an hour later. He was frantic when I got there. The two women there basically ignored me as I tried to calm him enough to get his harness and leash on. Payment was $50 and cash only. Nowhere was it posted that it was cash payment only. Thankfully I had just enough in my wallet. After payment, the two women turned their backs and both looked the one women's phone. My dog was so frantic that he panted the entire way home, threw himself from the back seat to the front, got on the floor of the passenger side and repeatedly went from the seat to the floor, panting excessively. As far as the actual grooming - he was still damp, he was shedding and his beard was still long and stained. The clipping was uneven. If I could give this business a zero, I would.

The Humane Society of Cambria County is closest to where I live and I decided that I wanted to go check and see what animals were available. I honestly had no intention of falling for one of them when I walked in, but somehow you bond. I walked in and the place is immaculate. Buzzing with noise as any animal shelter does. I asked if they had any cats available, and of course they did. I went back and walked up and down the aisle, double and sometimes triple looking at all the feline friends in need. I eventually found one that caught my eye and decided that I would like to see how we would do when we mingled. I went out and asked if I could hang out with one, they obliged. After hanging out in the kitty alcove I ended up falling for one that was in there already. With the visit over I went out and asked what the process was to adopt a cat. I was given an application to fill out and went ahead to complete it. This application is worse than both a job application and a rent application combined. I understand that they want to make sure that the animal is going to a responsible home and that way they weed out the bad prospects. But to ask for three references in regards to whether you can care for an animal is a bit ridiculous. Once I filled out my application, handed it over to them I was told that it would be up to seven days and they would make their decision. Seven days have come and gone...a long time ago. And I have not heard one peep from them. I know for a fact that they have called my references on the application as I was told by the people I had listed that they received a call. I, however, did not receive word on whether I was approved or denied. It would have been the decent thing to have done, even if I was denied to let me know one way or the other. All I have to say is that the fur baby would have had a good forever home, but it will never know that now.

I just happened to be in need of a service like this, the last thing on my mind at that time was what I was going to do with my little man. Their name put me at ease too. Pets After Life Services shortened to PALS is truly a great name. I had called the local vet office and they referred me here. This was the place that they used in times of need and I figured my little man could use the same services. I had called ahead to set up a time to bring him here and have him taken care of. Even though it was a hard time and I was scatter brained about everything, they showed compassion and took their time with me. They walked me through everything over the phone before I arrived. When I did arrive they showed me more compassion while I was in here. They showed me how much they care about your fur baby as much as you do. They told me everything that would happen and everything that would happen afterward. I was able to select the urn like container that I would receive little man back in. After they did what they did they called and I headed back to pick little man up. I received him in my selected urn like container with a certificate with his name on it, the Rainbow Bridge poem, and a detailed receipt. Honestly, I never want to be put in this position again, but they put me at ease in my time of need. I miss him every day, but I at least know I gave him the dignity he deserved in the end.
