Wagamama at Media City UK is a pretty typical Wagamama, it is in a nice location with plenty of seating and friendly staff.
My server, Aaron (who shared the same name as me) provided great service and we even shared a joke about having the same first name.
The ambience and vibes of this place are pretty cool, the typical benches are surrounded by a couple of booths for a more intimate feel, the booths also have plug sockets which can be pretty handy.
I decided to try the Chicken Raisukaree from the non-gluten menu, the staff seemed clued up regarding allergies and quickly went over the process, confirming it was an allergy.
Chicken Raisukaree - a mild, coconut and citrus curry, with chicken, mangetout, peppers, red and spring onions. served with white rice, a sprinkle of mixed sesame seeds, red chillies, coriander and fresh lime (description from Wagamama's website)
The chicken was cooked well and tasted good, although I wish there was more of it, the sauce was also fairly nice and considering it is a mild curry, it had a lot of flavours, which I loved. I do think the vegetables would have been better in smaller chunks, having to break away huge chunks of vegetables with no knifes available could have been made easier. (Strangely, they only had forks, spoons and chopsticks).
I was disappointed with the rice, it just seemed heavy and a little gritty, it wasn't light and fluffy as I'd have hoped.
While I liked the concept of being able to use a QR code to pay for the bill using my iPhone, I did have to give my details to pay - I don't know why they need my email address and phone number just to pay my bill, it felt like they were trying to get unnecessary personal information from me, while also making it take a little longer to pay my bill.
It wouldn't be my first choice to dine in the area, mainly down to the number of better alternatives nearby, but I can understand why it seems popular. 3* read more
