But having noticed it sitting just steps away from our gym on numerous occasions. And vowing to one day give them a try. Plus the fact that we had just tried them last week, with takeout in Simi Valley. I stated in that last review that "they're now on my let's grab a bite to eat list." Today, rather than opting for the plates, we went with the same orders, only bowls rather than plates. My chicken and steak veggies. Her chicken veggies. And we were not disappointed. Man...I just can't with this place. I gave them EVERY opportunity to make it right and I've been ignored. Almost a month ago, I decided to give this place a try...healthy with vegan options felt like a win...I was so wrong. I did an Internet order and pick-up from the store. I ordered a salad, got no dressing; I ordered dumplings and paid for extra sauce, got no sauce at all; I ordered a side of shrimp, which I did not get. Now I get it, that's like $3 worth of stuff...but the cost wasn't the issue, it was what came next. I called when I got home and realized what I was looking at and all I got was "sorry, unless you want to come back in, there's nothing I can do for you." I told him I didn't want to drive all the way back to Canyon Country to rectify their mistake. Then he told me I could ask for the refund online. I thanked him and went to the website and didn't find any way to do that. I called back and he assured me that there was a way, or I could come back in. Instead, I opted for your online contact form. Gave a full depiction with my order number and all of the information I stated here. Heard nothing for 2 weeks, when I got a response email telling me that the information had been sent to the store and I'd hear back in 24-48 hours. That was 2 weeks ago and I have heard nothing. Around the same time, I tweeted at them and received a request to discuss in DMs, which I obliged. Sent them the screen shot of the order and told them the story. Was told I'd hear from the store in 24-48 hours. That was 2 weeks ago and I have heard nothing. Both times I contacted corporate, I was told the store would reach out to me in 24-48 hours...they haven't...so this is a store issue. The food was mediocre. The meat was overdone and it REALLY NEEDED the sauce and they didn't give enough of it. The service was and remains terrible. I think this place may have suffered due to prior past management. I am a little embarrassed to say that I had never tried Waba Grill before, and their commercials drew me in. Had lunch there for the first time yesterday. Had the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Veggie bowl. The chicken was tender, moist, and flavorful. The veggies were good too, just wish they were a bit more generous with the portion of veggies. The team working there were extremely friendly, greeting us as we entered. The woman who took our order ( sorry I didn't get her name) very thoroughly explained their menu items as we decided what to order. In all, a good experience. I will eat at this location again. I know thats not the healthiest choice but I was hoping I'd served with some basic quality. Wow I was shocked. I've had a lot better at the grocery store isle in a frozen bag. The dumplings were wet and they didn't bother with seemingly any prep. There were fake char spot where it was suggest it was once cooked. The insides of the dumplings made me pause. There is clear looking noodles to bulk up the shape of the dumpling. Wow filler, why? Even though I know these small rice noodles?? were not worms it certainly unnerved me when I found one that fell onto my shirt. It was enough that I kept opening them first because I was disappointed and fussy about it. There didn't seem to be hardly any meat. This blatant added filler made me feel gross as I paid about $15. It was served with a mysterious orange sauce that tasted like cheap BBQ? I assume it's supposed to be used to grill meat. Is soy sauce or dumplings sauce too expensive these days? I was confused so I avoided it. I will never eat are WaBA grill again. It seemed to boast itself as being some kind of health meca with everything being made fresh with quality ingredients but based on the giant jugs of premade sauces, crazy amount of plastic and blatant use of fillers. I was here to pick up a large catering order, not expecting to eat, but as I was packing up and getting set to deliver, the incredibly helpful staff, along with the owner had prepared me a meal to go. I was overwhelmed with emotion. This is one of the largest WaBa Grill locations I have been to and it was practically dead for a restaurant this size. I have been to the Northridge location which is a third of the size of this restaurant and it is always busy with customers going in and out. It made me wonder why. As I waited for my food to be prepared, I started to see why. There were only two employees working and one of the employees didn't seem to know how to prepare the food. He kept asking the other employee for directions. Their kitchen looked very outdated like it's from an old mom and pop restaurant. It doesn't look appealing to see your food being cooked on their equipment. As I expected, the food didn't taste as good as the Northridge location. The chicken was very dry and it didn't seem fresh. I had to put a lot of teriyaki sauce to compensate for the lack of flavor so I can eat my food. It's definitely not the quality I expect from WaBa grill. I pay for drinks and they never come in my orders and I pay for extra side sauce and never get the sauces unless they are packets versus the ones I pay and extra 30 cents per sauce or 80 cents per sauce . Called to place an order over the phone for pick up like I do all the time. Had to call 3 times to get ahold of someone. Then someone finally picked up, but no one actually answered. I didn't get a please hold or anything. Just background noise of the grill and chopping. I was on my way there, so I just stayed on the phone. I get there 8 minutes after they'd picked up the phone. I go inside and the server is bagging food for someone, but there's no other customer inside. After the other customer has their order, the server greets me, and I explained that I had been on the phone with them for 8 minutes and I showed them my phone with their phone number and the call. The server glanced at their phone to the right that we can both clearly see is still off the hook, and just says "weird, sorry about that." Normally I would just assume they were busy with online orders or something, but the kitchen had nothing cooking, and as I ordered my food, the cook came over to watch the transaction and then made my food immediately. Also, after I hung up, we could all hear the loud dial tone and STILL no one hung up the phone. I think it's safe to assume they weren't swamped. They have a sign out front that says to call for curbside pick up. How are customers supposed to call for curbside pick up when it takes 3 phone calls and 8 minutes to never get ahold of someone? The food is absolutely phenomenal, and the prices are unbeatable, but those are the only reasons I will be coming back here.
