I feel like I lost every trial that was attended and was forced to take a settlement I didn't want due to the lack of faith/confidence I had in my lawyer and court system (and not wanting to return to the court room for the reasons previously stated). I was told "not to worry" more often than not and felt that my questions and concerns were dismissed. Everything was done very last minute and it seemed like no one was ever on the same page. When negative outcomes happened I was told, "well it's not my fault" and "I couldn't have seen that coming". Truly hoping my child support hearing goes better than my custody and visitation trial.

You should think about having those not-so-fun conversations with your elders or spouse about their wishes if something were to happen to them. Think about everything that involves gathering one's personal property and assets. If you don't have a Will, General Power of attorney, Special Needs, Guardianship, Advance Medical Directive, Joint financial/monetary accounts, and or co-ownership of any assets. You may seriously want to think about having a Living Trust established. Don't be afraid to hire someone who specializes in family planning. The Dickerson & Smith Law Group located in Virginia Beach, VA. is a law firm you can depend on. The expense of having them draw up a Trust is minimal, compared to what it could cost by having to go through probate. Thank You, Dickerson & Smith Law Group, and I like to give Mr. D. Dickerson Jr. Esq. a special thank you for his counsel and for establishing our family's living trust. On January 8th at around noon I was contacted by Diane in their office that there had been an emergency and could I come at 2pm on Friday, January 11th. No problem. I called to confirm earlier today since they did not and was told she was in court but would be back for our meeting. I arrived at 2:02 after wandering around for a minute to find their upstairs suite. I was handed some in-depth paperwork to fill out which could've been sent to me and done beforehand like employer address, driver's license and husbands personal info. Annoying. But whatever. I finished and handed it back at 2:05. I had heard the receptionist inform her I was there but "had to fill out paperwork". At 2:17 I asked what was going on. At 2:22 I said I was annoyed and she walked back to check. I informed the receptionist I was annoyed and she said she was talking to her paralegal as she'd been in court all day and just got back. At 2:28 Christy opened the door and said I looked upset. I said yes, I had a few questions to ask her before we got started and she said I could go ahead and ask them. So I asked her if it was standard practice to keep her clients with appointments (that had already been resked by the way) waiting a half an hour, if she was under the impression by what her receptionist had said that I wasn't ready for our meeting and she had a bunch of time, or was what she was discussing with her paralegal something she could have possibly done after our scheduled meeting as my time is also valuable and I had left work early for this? She looked me up and down and said, "I'm going to go ahead and decline representation at this time for both of us." In a snide way. Like how dare I. So rather than answer my questions, apologize for keeping me waiting, or address that she had wasted my time. She chose to do that. I said I thought that was best as well since I didn't like how it was starting off either. And she wished me a good day in a pretty snide tone, and I replied in kind and walked out. I went back in to collect my paperwork after walking to the parking lot with all of my personal information as I don't want them having it. I dislike when someone in a perceived position of authority does this. Wastes my time. Treats me badly. Fails to own mistakes or apologize and can't stand to be called out on it. Like how dare I. And I was going to pay her $100 to be treated like that?!? No way. I've had doctors treat me this way as well in the past and it's not good business practice. Had she apologized for the wait or tried to say yes, what she was discussing with her paralegal was time sensitive but she realized so was mine and let's get started. It could've been smoothed over. Nope. None of that happened. Absolutely unsat. Zero stars if possible. Yikes! I think I dodged a bullet!

This review is long overdue. Attorney Plumlee was recommended to me by my personal trainer. One of…read morehis clients had great success with him, so I scheduled an appointment. To be very clear, this review is my opinion and my experience only. Thankfully, I did not retain him to represent me in a divorce. Initially, I sat and began explaining why I was there. The minute I called my spouse "my spouse," he took on a totally different demeanor than during our cordial introduction. He went as far as to tell me in no uncertain terms how off-put he was that I referred to my "spouse" that way because it was cold and distant (this is not verbatim because it has been over a few years). He did not take the time to understand what would cause a person to use that verbiage about the person she was married to, and our appointment quickly ended. Had Mr. Plumlee taken the time to find out that my ex was a serial philanderer, a textbook narcissist, a serial family deserter, a verbal abuser, an absent father and husband, a nasty alcoholic, and a scammer, I would like to think that he would have responded differently. What put my ex above the rest is the fact that when my oldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer, he decided it would be a good time to jump ship (shut our business down and leave my daughter with no health coverage [she was an employee]) and move on with his life. However, Mr. Plumlee had no interest in discussing the case further, so we never got to the meat of the matter. I made sure after that encounter that I never recommended him as an attorney to who I would give my valuable time and money.
