I have lived at Sandpiper Cove, a WT Realty apartment complex, for close to a year and a half at the time of this review (Original review edited and reposted to be allowed as a recommended review by Yelps automated review bot that only lets certain reviews to affect a business). Here are the pros and cons to this apartment and this company. Some of these pros have some negative feedback to them. While they are pros, they can also be cons;
Pros:
1. Near the water.
2. Swimming Pool (Only took them a year after I moved in to get it going/fixed. Who knows how long it was like that before I moved in. Was a safety hazard that wasn't kept up to make sure no kid got hurt by falling in.)
3. Cheap-ish rent to live here. (If you're on a lease.)
4. Big area in middle of complex for kids and bbq's. (No playground at all. There is a community playground a few blocks down the road.)
5. Cheap electric bills.
6. Zero water bills. (As long as you don't use more than the allowance given. Which they don't even tell you how much that really is.)
7. Lease (Once you have completed the lease agreement terms, whether that's a year or more, you are set at a month to month basis. Therefor you can leave at anytime with ZERO repercussions.)
Cons:
1. Inept maintenance crew. (Had a nice list of things that required fixing. They came, did a terrible job, failed to fix all of it, left a paper saying they did this and ordered that. Nothing else was done since then.)
2. Emergency 24 hour maintenance crew is lazy/has excuses to NOT come and fix something serious. (Hot water is serious right? I think so.)
3. ZERO help from Property Manager. (Concerning disrespectful neighbors and parking issues. There are some inept people with drivers license that can't park living here. It's like I'm at the BMV parking area in Sandusky.)
4. Inept neighbors. (Slam their doors almost daily. You live in an apartment, not a house. There are things you do and things you don't do. When moving in or out, they block cars from leaving instead of using the LOADING AREA PARKING SPOT. There was one inept person that parked the huge moving truck in several parking spots. Blocking access to park near the entrance to my apartment. Some of them have NO IDEA how to properly park their car in the parking spots provided. Nor park near their side of the apartment complex. It's not rocket science.)
5. Unsatisfactory, borderline zero, help from WT Realty (Same reason stated for Property Manager.)
6. Repaved some of the parking area but not all of it. (When they filled in a pothole directly behind my car, they didn't leave a note saying please don't park here due to new asphalt. No, they put up cones surrounding the new and yet to cure 100% asphalt and left it there for me and anyone else to drive over getting it on our car/tires.)
7. Parking (They allow only 2 cars per "household". Which is fine but given where my building sits, that is a ridiculous allowance. There is only ONE side to park on while other buildings have two sides to park on. So therefore VERY LIMITED parking available. Given that fact, common sense would kick in that WT Realty, the property manager and YES my very own neighbors would tell family or friends to park elsewhere and there would be only 1 car limit per "household". Why? Because some people that live here only have one car, work all day, go to school for the rest of the same day and are VERY tired. Walking clear across a parking lot after a 12-14 hour day in he freezing cold, hot summer days or downpour rain is unacceptable. But not one single person cares. Oh, you can approach the company and talk to someone and they go "Well I agree with you." BUT NOTHING IS EVER DONE!)
8. Disgusting hallways (Always dirty, never cleaned.)
9. Apartments look sub-par inside. (Carpet is the biggest downside.)
Why did I move in? Cheap and moderately decent looking at the time. I have been actively looking for a suitable place to move to. I have also been actively telling people if they are thinking of moving, do NOT move into ANY building owned by WT Realty. If you are not moved by this negative review, read the other negative ones. They are 100% accurate. (You may have to scroll down to the grayes out linl that says (Reviews not recommended.) There's a saying; Good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good. That defines this company.
This is my second reveiw (Update if you will as of this date posted. I have lived here for nearly 3 years.) of this company. Here is another con to living here after you live month to month;
1.) They fail to tell you you're living month to month after your lease expires.
2.) They do the above so they don't have to tell you they'll raise the rent until the last second when they leave a notice on your door stating they're raising the rent due to maintenance issues.
3.) The rent raises are too high.
4.) They force you to decide to leave their dump or sign another lease leaving you stuck. read more
