In my quest for a Super September, I finally plucked up the courage to book my health check with…read moreLloyds Pharmacy as part of a Pru Health package. The booking process was all done through Pru, but was really easy and convenient (once I had finally located a Lloyds Pharmacy that was close enough for me to get too). First thing to note; go to the right store! After planning my appointment around a day of meetings in Kings Heath; I felt super organised to get to the Pharmacy a full 10 minutes before my appointment... Only to be told I had gone to the wrong Pharmacy! The one on the High Street doesn't do the checks and it's a good mile away from the one on Vicarage Road that does! My bad, no fault of the pharmacy there. I managed to dash down Vicarage Road and got there just a couple of minutes after 2pm. Upon entry (despite the email giving me a strict warning about being late), I was advised by the lovely lady that I needn't have rushed; it wasn't a problem. Oh well... Again... At least I got some exercise in the afternoon! There is a little side room within the Pharmacy which they carry out the checks. First of all I had my blood pressure and pulse checked. After that, they carried out a blood test with just a little drop of blood from a prick test. Then came the dreaded health and weight check. The testers explained what she was doing as we went through, although at times she was a little confused about the readings (which didn't fill me with the upmost of confidence), but we figured it out together. The computers were obviously very old and the staff could have done a little more training as there was a lot of faffing about trying to input the data into the computer systems. This led to me being delayed longer than I would have liked initially. After all the information was complete, the pharmacist was called to explain the results to me. He was a friendly chap, but certainly did waffle on a little bit. I wouldn't have minded - but I had to dash off to another meeting so couldn't really spare the time to natter! Once everything had been completed, I ran out to grab a bus. Luckily I had a bit of a wait as I had left my jacket in the room! The staff had ran out to give it to me, which was really nice of them. All in all, the experience was OK. I did what I went to do, although an upgrade of the equipment, a more succinct explanation of the results and a little more training of the staff wouldn't go a miss in this branch.
